Chapter 25 Mr. Poirot's Deduction Time

Mingzhi sighed, sounding just like a math teacher facing a clueless student.

"If he wants to dress up as the 'Dark Baron' for this event, he should have a full set of clothes in addition to the wig."

"Then why did you steal Mr. Jiang Yuan's cloak and hat?"

“Because those clothes originally belonged to him! When we dressed up Mr. Jiang Yuan, only the wig wasn’t used.” Feeling cornered, Yoruichi Toyama stubbornly persisted, “If he is the murderer…”

He stopped halfway through his last sentence.

Mingzhi shrugged, his expression saying, "See? We've come full circle."

“We just said, if Mr. Maeda is the murderer, he wasn’t the only one without an alibi in the first round of investigations. He was far from being exposed, so he shouldn’t have come forward at this time.”

"However, he jumped out, wearing clothes stolen from Mr. Jiang Yuan and a wig, making his identity immediately known to almost everyone."

"Such a reckless action can only be explained as a spur-of-the-moment decision. If it was a spur-of-the-moment decision, where did he get his wig?"

Mingzhi paused briefly before continuing in a concluding manner.

"As you said, that outfit and wig likely belong to the same person, and they are also the person who has the easiest access to her personal belongings for Mr. Maeda—"

"—Akiko Sayama, Mr. Satoshi Maeda's fiancée."

Yoichi Toyama was stunned for a moment before letting out a long sigh.

"So you, a police officer, can also engage in theoretical discussions!"

"But Miss Sayama..."

“That’s enough, Moi Ami,” Akechi interrupted him with a smile, while straightening his suit and bow tie. “Mr. Poirot’s reasoning time is over.”

"Next, let's see how that little detective performs."

...

"Ah, Officer Akechi, you've come at the perfect time!" As soon as he entered the hotel lobby, he saw Detective Yokomizo looking beaming, a far cry from the dejected look he had when he was reprimanded by Akechi earlier.

"Mr. Mori has found the real culprit. I'm calling everyone involved to gather here and await the great detective's deduction!"

Akechi and Toyama Yoru exchanged a glance.

His face clearly said, "See, did my scolding him work?"

Yoruichi Toyama suppressed a laugh and patted him on the shoulder to comfort him.

"Let's hear the 'detective's reasoning' first..."

As they were saying this, the people who were going to participate in this exploration trip began to arrive one after another.

Kogoro Mouri stood confidently in the spotlight, chest puffed out and belly bulging, making even Detective Yokomizo seem like his sidekick.

Xiao Lan is still nowhere to be found.

Conan, however, remained in a pensive pose, pacing with his head down, as if there were still unsolved mysteries.

"Little detective, what are you looking for?" Yoruichi Toyama greeted him.

The real mystery show should feature Conan, but judging from his current state, he probably hasn't fully figured it out yet, and Kogoro tricked him into a false alarm.

To ensure a perfect performance later, Yoruichi Toyama didn't mind helping him out.

Conan looked up, instinctively flashing a feigned childlike smile: "Yoruichi-nii-nii..."

As soon as the words left his mouth, he realized it was wrong and immediately rolled his eyes.

"You have time to criticize me, but you should also try to improve yourself, you overseas-educated detective!"

"Could it be that you're traveling with this Metropolitan Police Department Commissioner and don't want to steal his thunder?"

...Take this unfortunate kid for example, he doesn't learn a single lesson, he takes advantage of any slight.

Yoruichi Toyama chuckled as she walked over and petted the big head like she was petting a cat.

"I'm no match for the famous detective 'Sleeping Kogoro'!"

"I'm sure it will be a fantastic deduction show later on."

"Huh?" Conan, who had experienced Yoruichi Toyama's sharp tongue firsthand, was a little stunned, then sighed.

"Yes, wonderful..."

"The brilliance of a clown's performance..."

The last sentence was spoken very softly, almost a muttered monologue.

As he approached the hotel entrance, Yoruichi Toyama called out, "It's very windy outside, don't go wandering around."

"Wind?" Conan seemed to be still lost in his own thoughts, only repeating it unconsciously.

“This place faces the Pacific Ocean, and during this season, it receives monsoon winds that blow from the ocean to the land,” Akechi casually added. “The locals call them ‘Hime-kaze’.”

"'Ji Feng'?..."

Conan suddenly looked up and ran towards the door.

Not long after, his excited voice was heard: "Found it! My pen, it really is here!"

In the blink of an eye, Conan came running back with his short legs, holding a pen that had been smashed to pieces, and bowed to Yoruichi Toyama and Akechi.

"Thank you, Yoruichi-nii-san, and police officer, I've figured everything out!"

Watching him continue running towards the detective from Yokogawa, Mingzhi couldn't help but cough.

"I remember... I'm not much older than you, am I?"

"Why are you the older brother and I'm the police officer?"
