Chapter 111 Ye Yan's Story

Su Tang looked at the survey results sent by Zhao Yujin. The subject of the survey was Ye Yan, who was far away in Shanghai.

Su Tang had investigated Ye Yan before. Although the results were presented to Su Tang, they only included his military experience and honors, as well as what happened to him afterward.

But when she tried to find information from before that point, the page was blank, which meant that there were things she didn't have the authority to access.

She was using the Su family's authority. If there are restrictions under these circumstances, it can only mean that someone deliberately concealed what happened to Ye Yan, and that the person who concealed this matter has a very powerful background.

The more you deliberately conceal something, the more curious people become. It's like Pandora's box; even if you're repeatedly warned not to open it, people will still break the rules out of curiosity.

Although the Zhao family is a key figure in the government and not considered government officials, they still have the necessary authority and know more about things that are unknown to others than other aristocratic families.

So Su Tang approached Zhao Yujin and asked her to use the authority of both the Su and Zhao families to jointly investigate Ye Yan.

Zhao Yujin initially refused, but Su Tang, knowing her well, accepted the request without hesitation once she mentioned it was related to Xie Wei.

However, at the beginning, she did not have much authority in the Zhao family, so this matter was temporarily delayed. When she obtained the token to mobilize the Zhao family's secret guards, Zhao Yujin began to investigate the matter.

Unfortunately, the Zhao and Su families only granted Zhao Yujin slightly more information than Su Tang. The extra information was right in front of Su Tang, and even someone as composed as her trembled slightly when she saw it.

Ye Yan was actually one of the victims of the 'Heavenly Court Project', and the only surviving test subject.

The 'Heavenly Court Project' was an inhumane experiment that began sometime in the past but ended a little over a decade ago. Su Tang didn't know much about it; most of what she knew came from clan records and what her elders told her.

It is said that a heretical organization is carrying out this plan, and the sole purpose of this plan is to create a god!

Initially, this organization only trained geniuses from all over the country. Later, they recruited young talents, and then they started recruiting three- or four-year-old children. This was a good thing, and the country supported it.

It's unclear when this organization started believing that the very beginning of humanity was the creation of gods. It's also unclear how they obtained a group of pregnant women and used them for experiments, shaping the children with spiritual power.

However, how could they withstand such immense power in such a fragile state? As a result, many pregnant women miscarried or even died on the spot, and those who were still breathing were also killed.

Later, the government discovered this and joined forces with powerful families and capable individuals from various regions to suppress the organization. Ye Yan was discovered during this suppression campaign. At the time, he was just an infant less than a year old. Heaven has a benevolent heart, so he was taken back by the officials.

Later, that organization was also known as the heretical organization.

Because of the government's initial investment, this was a huge scandal for those in power, so those involved in the extermination operation chose to remain silent about it. Only reclusive families, who were not afraid of death, dared to talk about it openly.

Given that it involves the 'Heavenly Court Project,' it's no wonder that those in power would set such high access levels.

By now, the whole picture is clear. So what are the hidden records in the latter part? Su Tang guessed that they were nothing more than the training that the government had done for Ye Yan. This part might require the military's authorization, and she had no interest in looking into it.

Meanwhile, Ye Yan, far away in Shanghai, was at the Ouyang family home. He was drinking tea with one hand and his other hand was close to Ouyang Xue's. He felt a lump in his throat when he met the murderous gaze of the Ouyang family head.

“Father, that look will scare Ye Yan,” Ouyang Xue said, unable to help but speak up when she saw her father looking at the person he liked with that kind of gaze.

"Cough cough...cough cough cough!" Ye Yan choked on his tea. 'Oh no!'

Sure enough, when he looked up, Ouyang's father's murderous gaze had turned into one of gritted teeth, as if he wanted to tear him to pieces.

Seeing Ye cough, Ouyang Xue thoughtfully patted Ye Yan's back, while her other hand was also busy, handing Ye Yan a tissue.

If looks could kill, Ye Yan would probably have been torn to pieces by now. Ouyang's father looked like a giant dragon about to breathe fire.

"I...I can do it myself." For the first time, Ye Yan felt like he was teetering on the edge of life and death.

"You! And Xue'er! You two sit separately, far apart from each other," Ouyang's father said.

Seeing this, Ouyang Xue could only look pitifully at her mother.

Mother Ouyang understood and waved her hand, gesturing for her to sit down next to her.

"Alright, this is Xue'er's first time bringing a friend home. After all, he's Xue'er's savior. You should calm down. I think Xiao Ye is well-behaved and has proper manners. He doesn't seem like a wild boy from outside," she whispered to Ouyang's father.

Seeing Ouyang Xue sit down next to his wife, finally no longer next to that brat surnamed Ye, and hearing about how this kid had saved his precious daughter, his depressed mood from the day finally eased a little.

After chatting with Ye Yan for a while, he couldn't help but admire the shrew who had kidnapped his daughter for his knowledge and skill.

After the chat ended, Ouyang's mother wanted Ye Yan to stay at Ouyang's house for a few more days, but Ye Yan refused without hesitation.

Ouyang's father looked at Ye Yan with eyes that said, "You're a sensible kid."

Back at the hotel, Ye Yan lay on the bed, letting out a sigh of relief. He placed one hand under his head, stretched out the other hand, spread his fingers, and stared blankly at the ceiling through the gaps, somewhat lost in thought.
