On the weekend, Xie Wei came to Mu Qingcheng's house, wanting to invite people out for a walk.
"Uncle!" Mu Yao suddenly appeared from around the corner.
She had just seen Xie Wei about to enter the house on the security camera, and she had been hiding in the corner of the entryway, waiting for Xie Wei to come over, wanting to scare him.
To everyone's surprise, Xie Wei wasn't scared at all. The moment she popped up, he flicked her head with a light tap, not too hard, not too soft.
"Where's Xiao Chengzi?" After the two confirmed their relationship, Xie Wei always called Mu Qingcheng that, without avoiding Mu Yao.
"Mom isn't home. I heard she's busy with work outside. Didn't she tell you?"
Hearing Mu Yao say this, Xie Wei seemed to remember this matter. He recalled that Mu Qingcheng had mentioned the charging road at the time, so it seemed to be about road construction.
Xie Wei rubbed his temples, his plans to go wrong.
Xie Wei watched as Mu Yao dyed her hair back to black, tied it into a high ponytail, and carefully held it around her neck. She wore a long-sleeved white shirt as a base layer, with a beige autumn-style knitted vest on top, a gray pleated skirt, white socks, and fluffy slippers. She carried a small bag and looked like she was about to go out.
"Going out?"
"I'm going to study at the Capital Library," Mu Yao said proudly, her head held high. She was only a high school student, yet she had already made great progress.
"Why aren't you at home?" Xie Wei asked, somewhat puzzled.
"Without the right atmosphere, I can't concentrate on learning," Mu Yao stated her reasoning confidently.
Sometimes it's like that; if you can't do something on your own, you need external help to focus.
Xie Wei obviously hadn't encountered this situation. He was exceptionally talented at everything he did, and once he set his mind to something, he would focus on doing it well.
Xie Wei nodded to indicate that he understood, then went into the house. He was about to call someone to bring the computer over when he remembered something and turned off the screen of his phone.
Since Mu Qingcheng wasn't there, Xie Wei needed to find something to do while waiting for her.
But this is Mu Qingcheng's home. If someone sends a computer over, it will almost certainly reach her parents. They'll find out sooner or later anyway.
Just as Xie Wei was still struggling with his decision, Mu Yao spoke up.
"Uncle, are you very free?"
"It's alright, at least I can find something to do."
"Then come with me to the library. I can ask you any questions I have." Mu Yao suddenly remembered the tool in front of her, and her eyes lit up as she looked at Xie Wei.
"No, it's too much trouble," Xie Wei refused without thinking twice, giving what he considered a perfectly reasonable reason.
Don't force me to call you dad.
...
The Imperial Library.
Exit from the main gate of No. 1 Middle School and walk straight to the left, passing through the pedestrian street near No. 1 Middle School for about four kilometers.
The library's exterior alone suggests it cost a fortune to build. Xie Wei had been inside, and without specialized classification and search tools, the sheer number of books would be overwhelming.
There's a one-story-high staircase at the entrance, leading to the library door. As soon as the automatic door opens, a strong smell of books wafts out. Some people like this smell, while others think it's an industrially produced smell that's harmful to health.
Nowadays, not many people can sit down and spend an afternoon reading. Even in the capital's library, there aren't many people reading at this time, and it feels empty everywhere.
The library has six floors. The fifth floor has private study rooms with excellent soundproofing, so there's no noise from outside to disturb inside, and vice versa. These rooms are specifically for people who take online classes or work.
The two went up to the fifth floor and found a study room. They sat by the window and looked out at the tall buildings and the people coming and going. It was a real pleasure for anyone in the room.
Xie Weiss's long fingers slid across the mouse, looking at the planning proposal for Nancheng on the computer.
The computer was delivered during lunchtime.
Mu Yao, who was standing next to her, took out a workbook from her bag and started doing practice questions.
After some time, Mu Yao finished a test paper and wanted to stretch. When she turned her head, she saw Xie Wei's serious profile.
When Xie Wei is serious, he has a very serious face, which is quite different from his usual gentle and calm demeanor. At this moment, he appears rather solemn.
The files on the computer seemed to displease him; his handsome face was slightly furrowed and raised, his expression resembling that of his homeroom teacher when she reprimanded them during a class meeting.
Thinking of this, Mu Yao found it amusing. She tilted her head and looked at him more closely. His eyelashes were thick and bushy, his skin was very fair, and the corners of his mouth were pursed straight. He must be a very good kisser...
'Your kissing skills are excellent...' She stared at his lips, her gaze seemingly unable to look anywhere else, her cheeks flushing pink.
"Hmm?" Noticing the gaze and sensing the other person's unusual behavior, Xie Wei looked at Mu Yao. "What's wrong? Is there a problem?"
"Ah! Oh, right!" Mu Yao quickly flipped over the test paper she had just finished, pointing to a question, "This...this question."
"Let me see," Xie Wei leaned closer to glance at the question, and immediately had a solution in mind. "This question is like this..."
Mu Yao didn't just randomly point to a question out of shyness; she had left it blank because she didn't know the answer, planning to ask Xie Wei when he had time. So she listened attentively as Xie Wei explained.
The problem is not simple. It may seem easy at first glance, but if you work through it carefully, you will find that no matter how you do it, you are going around in circles. In fact, there are only a few correct solutions. At the high school level, there is only one solution. It is tedious and boring, so it is normal to find it difficult.
Xie Wei initially thought the girl was peeking at him, but now it seems she might be annoyed because she was worried about disturbing his work.
The girl is very considerate.
