In a private room of a bar in the western part of Nancheng, a man sat on the sofa, playing with dice in his hand. His expression was calm, and in just a few seconds, his eyes glanced at the door three or four times, as if he was waiting for someone.
A moment later, the door to the private room was pushed open, and Xie Wei walked in dressed in a formal suit.
When the man saw Xie Wei enter the room alone, he raised an eyebrow and quickly got up to greet him.
"I am Chu Jin, the vice leader of the Shark Gang." Chu Jin took the initiative to walk up to Xie Wei and extended his hand. "Young Master Xie, I've been waiting for you for a long time."
Xie Wei ignored the hand placed in front of him, walked straight to the sofa behind him, sat down, put one leg on top of the other, and placed his hands on his knees.
This isn't the capital city; politeness doesn't matter here. Might makes right.
Besides, he's not really here to discuss business today, so there's no need to be so polite with him.
Seeing that Xie Wei was ignoring him, a fierce glint flashed in Chu Jin's eyes, but he quickly returned to his normal expression.
He gave the doorman a look, and the man closed the door and left.
Chu Jin sat down opposite Xie Wei. For some reason, when facing Xie Wei's posture, he always had a feeling of inferiority, as if he was the one who invited him and the one who was the master of this place.
His confidence in the West District further confirmed his belief.
A short while later, the doorman brought over a bottle of wine.
"I heard that Young Master Xie recently reached a cooperation agreement with the Rose Gang?" Chu Jin picked up a wine glass on the table and began to pour wine for Xie Wei.
Xie Wei did not accept the wine offered by the other party, but simply replied with a faint "hmm".
Seeing Xie Wei's attitude, Chu Jin was not annoyed and continued to speak to himself.
"I wonder if Young Master Xie would be willing to change partners."
"After all, the Rose Gang is just an unknown nobody who suddenly appeared out of nowhere. They don't have a deep enough foundation, and they might be wiped out in some battle one day."
Chu Jin narrowed his eyes slightly, as if hinting at something.
"Oh?" Upon hearing this, Xie Wei seemed intrigued, took the wine, and placed it in front of him.
"Young Master Xie, could you please tell me the details of the cooperation? I can also demonstrate my sincerity in offering this service."
These words made some sense, and the tone was humble, as if he were asking for something. But anyone with common sense would know that he was trying to trick Xie Wei into revealing information.
Xie Wei was naturally the one who understood. He just smiled slightly, lit a cigarette, and pretended to be thinking.
Smelling the other person's cigarette, Chu Jin knew it was no ordinary cigarette. He swallowed hard, his throat starting to itch, and he lit one himself.
"Then what kind of conditions can your gang offer?" Xie Wei exhaled a puff of smoke and said calmly.
Seeing that Xie Wei did not answer his question directly, Chu Jin's eyes narrowed and his brows furrowed slightly, but he still had a smile on his face. At least the other party had shown interest, which was a good start.
Chu Jin held up two fingers and whispered, "No matter what conditions the Rose Gang offers, my gang will offer double. Moreover, I can help Young Master Xie negotiate further, and I'm sure the amount can reach three times."
This is a classic example of "pie in the sky"—first, offer someone a tempting deal, and then after the two cooperate, even if they don't get the desired benefits, as long as they receive slightly more than the original amount, the other party won't complain.
"It is indeed a good suggestion," Xie Wei said with a smile, exhaling a puff of smoke so that Chu Jin could not see his face.
"Right?" Chu Jin thought his chance had come when he heard Xie Wei say that, and happily continued to ask, "Then what are the details of our cooperation?"
Xie Wei took another deep breath, pretending to be deep in thought, then beckoned the other person to come closer, instantly creating a tense atmosphere throughout the private room.
Chu Jin lowered his head as Xie Wei instructed, waiting for the other party to speak.
Xie Wei said something that made his hair stand on end and goosebumps rise.
"I want that bottle of stuff, the more the better!"
Upon hearing this, Chu Jin was stunned at first, then stared blankly at Xie Wei for a moment, opening his mouth and then closing it again.
Smoking a cigarette, Xie Wei observed Chu Jin's expression. Chu Jin's hesitant manner amused Xie Wei. He wasn't in a hurry; he understood the principle that haste makes waste.
Like boiling a frog in lukewarm water, he has plenty of time, but sometimes he still needs to show some impatience.
After a while, Chu Jin noticed Xie Wei's brows furrow and his smile fade. Chu Jin began to feel anxious.
"Young Master Xie, you also know about that thing?"
Xie Wei looked at him with the eyes of someone looking at an idiot, and Chu Jin blushed, realizing that he had asked an inappropriate question.
"My opinion doesn't count in this matter..."
Upon hearing this, Xie Wei pretended to straighten his clothes, seemingly feeling that there was no need to continue the conversation, and prepared to leave.
Seeing Xie Wei like this, Chu Jin immediately became anxious, "Wait a minute!"
Xie Wei glanced at him, as if giving him a chance, and stopped what he was doing.
Chu Jin breathed a sigh of relief. "Although I don't know what conditions the Rose Gang agreed to, I'm afraid you've been played. They definitely won't fulfill what they promised you."
"oh?"
"The source of that thing is not in the hands of any gang..." Chu Jin stopped there, clearly leaving out what he wanted to say, but it was easy to guess.
"But if you need it, we can act as a middleman and get what you need for you, how about that?"
Xie Wei finished his cigarette, put it in the ashtray, and nodded...
Seeing his reaction, Chu Jin immediately poured himself a glass of wine, raised it slightly, and said, "Then I wish us a pleasant cooperation!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Xie Wei chuckled, then leaned back on the sofa and said calmly, "I don't remember saying I wanted to cooperate with you."
"You tricked me!" The person opposite was taken aback at first, then reacted, his eyes widening with anger. He stood up and said fiercely, "Do you know who tricked me is now..."
Before the other person could finish speaking, Xie Wei kicked the table, causing it to slam into the other person's knee, making the other person unable to speak from the pain and only able to glare at him angrily.
Xie Wei stood up, straightened his trousers which were wrinkled from the exertion, and said casually, "I don't know, and I don't want to know. I only know that I will definitely live a good life. What do you think?"
Xie Wei's nonchalant tone only fueled the other party's anger. However, since they were not on his turf, and Xie Wei was no pushover, he could only swallow his anger and finally utter a single sentence.
"You just wait! You'll regret what you've done today!"
Watching the man leave, Xie Wei completely ignored his words. Looking at the wine in front of him, he pointed slightly with his finger, and the wine glass burst open, spilling wine all over the table.
