"The Night of Revenge" is set in the Republican era and tells the story of Fu Heng, a wealthy young man who is also a military officer in the New Army, and Gong Qingtan, a well-bred young lady who is also a teacher at a prestigious university.

In "The Night of Rebellion," the second male lead, Du Xi, is a classmate of the second female lead, Fu Lanke, whom he met while studying abroad. He returns to China with Fu Lanke to serve their country. Although there are no intimate scenes between the two, Du Xi has a one-sided crush on Fu Lanke, while Fu Lanke has not made it clear.
Given Zhuge Qing's status, he should be the male lead.
