In the courtyard, Wu Er, who was holding several pelts, stared blankly at the unconscious wolf cub in the cage for a moment.
The wolf cub is gray with smooth fur.
The furs that Wu Er was holding were also gray and very smooth...
I glanced at the little wolf in the cage again, and then recalled the bloody flesh I had seen when I came in. Several images flashed through my mind.
Suddenly, he felt a churning in his stomach, and couldn't help but bend over, letting go of the fur he was holding, which fell to the ground.
Wu Er almost vomited, and it took him a while to calm down.
If you only look at those chunks of meat, you won't have such a strong reaction, but if you see live animals, your mind will be filled with those bloody images, which is really unbearable.
I don't know who would skin a wolf alive in this place; it's truly disgusting!
If it weren't for the need to survive the winter, Wu Er would never have come to a place like this, much less steal anything.
After shaking his head to completely banish the disgusting images that flashed through his mind, Wu Er picked up the fur that had fallen to the ground.
"Let's hurry up and go."
Wu Er muttered something under his breath, then turned away.
Having taken enough of the furs, he naturally didn't want to stay there any longer, so he headed out of the courtyard.
Just as Wu Er reached the back door and stepped halfway out of the courtyard, a voice came from behind him.
"Ooh~"
Feeling guilty for stealing, Wu Er was even more startled upon hearing the voice, instinctively turning his head to see where it was coming from.
Looking back, the wolf cub that had been unconscious in the cage had woken up and was now staring at Wu Er.
And that cry just now was also from this little wolf.
This relieved Wu Er, and then his gaze fell on the little wolf.
The little wolf lay limply in the cage, its limbs bent, its black eyes fixed on Wu Er.
Wu Er pursed his lips and looked at the bloodstained fur in his arms.
My heart softened involuntarily.
......
"I'm back."
Wu Er, carrying a pile of things, shouted in front of the gate of a dilapidated little temple.
"Senior brother is back!"
Someone inside the temple responded, followed by a series of footsteps. The footsteps were fast, and the person walking seemed to be in a hurry.
Then, with a creak, the peeling temple door was pushed open.
"Senior brother!"
When the door opened, a ten-year-old boy was revealed; he was very handsome.
The dark gray clothes he was wearing didn't suit him well, and they were covered in patches and didn't fit his size.
A gentle light appeared in Wu Er's eyes. He reached out and touched the boy's head, saying, "Mingmu, have you and your junior brothers and sisters been obedient?"
Xiao Mingmu blushed slightly after being patted on the head, then lowered his head shyly and said, "Of course I'll be obedient..."
"I think so too."
Then, Wu Er and Xiao Mingmu went into the courtyard of the small temple and closed the temple gate.
"Senior Brother!"
"Senior Brother!"
"Big...Senior Brother!"
After several more calls, four more children ran out.
Three boys and one girl, all very young, the oldest being eight and the youngest three.
"Why are you all out here?"
Wu Er looked at the group of children, tilted his head, and gave them a doting smile.
The children ran towards Wu Er and hugged his legs.
Four children came over and surrounded Wu Er, naturally pushing Xiao Mingmu to the side.
After being pushed aside, Xiao Mingmu looked at the group of people holding Wu Er, pouted, and seemed a little unhappy.
Wu Er looked at the four children beside him, reached out his hand, and patted each of their heads one by one.
"Xiao Wu, are you crying again?"
Wu Er patted the head of the oldest child among the four and said, "You are the third oldest, and you are eight years old. Don't cry all the time."
Zhang Wu, who was being patted on the head, immediately felt a lump in his throat, and his eyes began to redden, making him look like he was about to cry.
Then Zhang Wu blushed, shed a few tears, and stammered, "I...I understand."
Seeing this, Wu Er smiled helplessly, then patted another boy's head and said, "Xiaoping, you're the smartest. Go and coax your third senior brother."
The fourth brother, Li Ping, immediately nodded, then reached out his chubby little hand to wipe away Zhang Wu's tears, and the two of them walked to the side.
"Senior Brother, did you see the carriage today?"
The youngest of the boys, Yan Zheng, the fifth, was sucking on his finger and asked Wu Er a question in a daze.
Wu Er laughed and replied, "Dog Egg, when we're rich in the future, we'll buy you a horse-drawn carriage so you can watch it all you want."
Yan Zheng grinned when he heard this, but then seemed to realize something and stopped laughing.
He said angrily, "My name isn't Gou Dan, it's Yan Zheng. Senior brother, you should call me by my full name."
After saying that, she pouted her little lips and made an angry face, which looked very cute.
Wu Er was amused by Yan Zheng's adorable appearance and had a mischievous idea. He said, "Okay, how about I add my surname and call him Yan Gou Dan?"
Upon hearing this, Yan Zheng snorted, took a few steps back, and turned his head away.
"Brother Dai Shi."
A muffled call came from among the group, and the girl, Wo Ningyan, stared wide-eyed at Wu Er.
She is only three years old and her speech is still unclear.
Then Wo Ningyan reached out her hand and said, "Brother Shi, hug... hug..."
