Chapter 11 Walking the Ghost

When I ran back, Su Xiaoniu explained the purpose of the five red strings. It turned out that placing the black donkey hoof on the toilet ceiling and connecting the red handkerchiefs at the four corners with red strings was intended to create a simple "Five Elements Soul-Calming Formation." The placement of the five positions wasn't random; they corresponded to the five elements of the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches. By trapping ghosts in this "Five Elements Soul-Calming Formation," their ghostly power would be greatly diminished.

Then wrap the five red lines around the big willow tree to suppress the corpse qi of the body buried under the willow tree.

At this moment, Huo Yan was not only trapped in the "Five Elements Soul-Suppressing Bureau," but her body was also being suppressed, significantly impacting her ability to unleash her powerful ghostly powers. Not only was she suffering from various negative influences, but she was even unable to speak. As long as I held onto those five red strings, I could walk Huo Yan like a dog, forcing her to her knees and beg for mercy!

I suddenly felt a little excited. Everyone else was walking their dogs or cats, but I was walking a ghost!

By the time I'd circled around and reached the big willow tree, Huo Yan was still ten meters away. Her hair was disheveled, her face was pale, and she was floating in the air, lunging at me with her teeth and claws bared. She nearly scared me to death.

"Being in the Five Elements Soul-Calming Bureau, her movement speed has been affected unprecedentedly. Otherwise, someone as slow as you would have been caught up by her and torn alive!" Su Xiaoniu was really rude in her words. Damn it, I didn't bother with her for now. I quickly grabbed the five red lines wrapped around the willow tree.

Huo Yan cried out a few times, "Eh, ah, ah!" I didn't understand what she was saying, but a chill suddenly ran down my back, giving me the creeps. I quickly twisted the five red strings in my hand tightly and pulled them hard to the left.

I heard a "thump" and bravely turned around to see Huo Yan had fallen to the ground, hitting the left side of the big willow tree. But soon, she floated up from the ground. However, the look in her eyes when she looked at me became extremely resentful, as if she regarded me as her rival in love, which made me feel uneasy.

However, I finally realized that these five red strings did have the ability to suppress Huo Yan. I now wrapped the five red strings around the big willow tree, suppressing Huo Yan's body, and thus indirectly manipulating Huo Yan's behavior. As a result, most of Huo Yan's actions were restricted by me.

In other words, if I ask Huo Yan to go east, she must go east. If I ask her to go south, she definitely cannot go north!

"Damn, that's awesome!" I was so excited that I praised Su Xiaoniu for teaching me good things and started to play tricks on her!

Huo Yan gave me a resentful look, then opened her mouth and blew a fierce "ha" at me, extending her claws and suddenly pounced on me again. We were already very close to each other, only about seven or eight meters away. If I wasn't careful, I would most likely be killed.

But now I am possessed by Su Xiaoniu, and my senses are not the same as before. Seeing Huo Yan rushing towards me, I suddenly pulled the five red lines upwards. Huo Yan screamed "Ah", and her whole body involuntarily pounced into the air, and then her head hit the willow tree hard, making a deep hole in the tree.

"Crash!" The willow tree, struck by the immense force, began to shake like a violent storm. I was so frightened I stared blankly. Damn, are ghosts that powerful? This willow tree was so massive, and Huo Yan's ghost was so light, yet crashing into it unleashed such a tremendous force. It was incredible.

If this hits me, won’t I be killed?

Su Xiaoniu said I was too ignorant. She laughed at me and said, "After death, the soul is freed from the constraints of the body, and all its potential is restored at this moment. Its strength is ten to a hundred times that of a human, or even higher. Don't look at Huo Yan's ghost as light and airy, like a breeze without mass. But if those breezes gather and become a tornado, you can imagine how powerful it is."

What Su Xiaoniu said made so much sense that I was speechless.

Huo Yan fell down from the tree with a bang. I saw that her face was distorted by the impact. Now, her face was no longer pale, but with a hint of bruises. I was surprised. It turned out that ghosts could also get bruised and swollen from being hit?

But this thought only lasted a short time before Huo Yan floated up from the ground, slowly drifting to the top of a tree branch. After staring at me with resentful eyes for two seconds, she suddenly and fiercely pounced on me from below. This time, she pounced from above, so fast that I was almost unable to react.

"Take two steps to the right and the red line will come down!" Su Xiaoniu's anxious voice suddenly sounded in my ears. I hurriedly took two steps to the right, and then pulled the five red lines in my hand down.

There was a loud "bang" and a hole appeared next to the tree roots. The ghost Huo Yan was in the hole, with his head on the ground and his feet facing upwards, twitching all over.

But I couldn't laugh at all, because just because I hesitated for a moment, Huo Yan's ghost claws tore off a piece of skin on my right shoulder. Although the wound was not big, it hurt so much that I gasped.

At this time, Su Xiaoniu said, "Alright, we've almost got her. She's completely unable to fight back now. Take the pickaxe and dig under the tree. Stop when you see blood."

Are you asking me to dig up the body? But what does the blood mean? Even if I were to dig up the body, Huo Yan had been dead for four or five years. How could there still be blood on the body?

I didn't quite understand Su Xiaoniu's intention, and she didn't tell me, so she just let me dig.

I pulled the small iron pick from my waist and began digging under the willow tree. But I was still terrified. Every time I dug, I turned back to look at Huo Yan, afraid she would suddenly burst out of the mud pit and kill me. Su Xiaoniu told me not to think too much and to dig hard. Huo Yan couldn't get up now.
