The outcome was inevitable. Because they had violated the laws of Heaven, their relationship was ruthlessly crushed. The Heavenly Court punished them with a cruel curse: since they had disregarded the laws and secretly met, they were transformed into the blossoms and leaves of a single plant. However, this flower was so strange that the blossoms would appear without the leaves, and vice versa, for generations to come, the blossoms and leaves would miss each other.
Legend has it that after countless reincarnations, the Buddha arrived one day and saw a flower on the ground, its splendor extraordinary and fiery red. The Buddha approached it and examined it carefully, discerning its secrets with a single glance. Neither sad nor angry, he suddenly looked up to the heavens and laughed three times, then reached out and pulled the flower from the ground. The Buddha placed the flower in his hand and said with emotion, "In your previous life, you missed each other but could not meet. After countless reincarnations, you loved each other but could not be together. The so-called separations and reunions are nothing but the fading of fate. You bear a curse from heaven, binding you together even when your fate ends, yet remaining together even when it ends. I cannot help you break this cruel curse, but I will take you to the other shore, where you will bloom in abundance."
On his way to the other shore, the Buddha passed by the Sanzu River in the underworld and accidentally got his clothes wet. There, lying on the other shore, was the red flower he had brought with him. When he reached the other shore and unwrapped the flower, he discovered it had turned pure white. The Buddha pondered for a moment, then laughed heartily, saying, "Great joy is not as good as great sorrow; remembering is not as good as forgetting. Right and wrong, how can one distinguish? What a beautiful flower! What a beautiful flower!" The Buddha planted this flower on the other shore and named it Mandragora Flower. Because it was there, he also called it Bana.
But the Buddha was unaware that he was on the Three Evil River, where the flower, faded by the water, had shed its red color into the water, wailing incessantly all day long, causing great sorrow to all who heard it. Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, possessing extraordinary powers, learned that the Mandragora flower had sprouted. He came to the river, took out a seed and threw it into the stream. Soon, a flower, even more red than the previous one, sprouted from the water. Ksitigarbha took it in his hand and sighed: "You have escaped and achieved great freedom. Why do you carry this boundless hatred in the already boundless sea of hell? I will make you a guide to lead them to the cycle of reincarnation. Remember your color. There is already a Mandragora flower on the other side, so I will call you Manshazhuhua."
From then on, there were two completely different kinds of red spider lilies in the world. One grew on the other side, near the Wangchuan River of the Naihe Bridge, and the other grew by the Sanzu River.
"Love is not cause and effect; fate determines life and death." Su Xiaoniu's slightly sad voice echoed in my heart: "There is a flower that transcends the Three Realms, not within the Five Elements. It grows on the other side of the Weak Water, a dazzling crimson. It is the flower of the other shore. The flower blooms on the other side of the water, the flower blooms without leaves, the leaves grow without flowers. I miss you and cherish you, but we cannot meet. I walk alone on the other side of the water."
Su Xiaoniu taught me about the red spider lily, but her last words were so melancholic. I have a bad feeling. Also, why is the Lycoris radiata at the bottom of the Sanzu River? Shouldn't it be on the surface? If this is Lycoris radiata, then what are those little red flowers on the surface?
Whatever it is, it doesn't matter to me. The most important thing now is to get up quickly! I struggled hard, trying to break free from the vines of Lycoris radiata that had wrapped around my legs, but the harder I struggled, the tighter it wrapped around me, almost strangling my legs.
Su Xiaoniu said: "Use your Yang blood to smear the Seven Star Sword, and you can cut off the ties of love."
Love? I was a bit slow to react, but I didn't care. I decisively bit my finger, smeared the blood on the sword, and then slashed the Seven Star Sword down with force. I heard a "PIA" sound, and the vines were instantly cut off, spurting out bright red blood, splashing directly all over me.
I was stunned at the time. Blood was actually spurting out from the vines? This...
Before I could react, a "woooooo" crying sound suddenly came from the bottom of the river. This sound was not the voice of those water ghosts, I was very sure! What surprised me most was that when the crying sounded, the nearby water ghosts ran away at once, as if they had seen some terrible demon.
