Chapter 18 Winter Vacation

After coming out of the memorial hall, Jian Yunxi and his family climbed to the highest point of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum - the observation deck.

Standing on the observation deck, one could see the Purple Mountain and Xuanwu Lake in the distance. Jian Yunxi stood on the observation deck, stretched out her arms, and felt the breeze coming from above. She really wanted to capture all the beautiful moments.

After the tour, Jian Yunxi and his family took a short break in a teahouse near the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, and then went to a famous food stall nearby to eat Jinling Roast Duck.

Jinling Roast Duck is very different from Beijing Roast Duck. The duck skin is golden and crispy, and the duck meat is tender and juicy. It is served with a special marinade that is sweet and salty in the right amount and full of fragrance.

Jian Yunxi felt that Meiling's porridge had a fragrant and glutinous texture, sweet with a hint of freshness. She also heard that it could beautify the skin and moisten the lungs, so she couldn't wait to have two more bowls.

As the journey was coming to an end, at the last stop in Nanjing, Jian Yunxi and his companions came to the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders with heavy and solemn hearts.

Outside the museum, the solemn architectural style contrasts sharply with the surrounding hustle and bustle, as if silently telling the unforgettable history.

As they stepped into the museum, the dim light, the displayed historical materials, the real images, every detail deeply shocked them.

Although Jian Yunxi studied modern Chinese history and read about the cruelty of war in history books, the pain she felt was far less than what she saw with her own eyes.

Jian Yunxi stopped in front of each exhibit and read the text descriptions carefully, feeling increasingly depressed.

Especially when she saw the remains of the victims in the "mass grave" site, she couldn't help but shed tears.

She thought that everything had been deeply engraved in her mind, and her determination to study hard became stronger.
