"Is my aunt treating us to dinner tonight?" Xia Minmin asked.
"Well, to be precise, it should be your uncle who treated us to dinner."
"I never expected that Brother Wu would actually succeed in taking over! I never would have guessed. He used to like to play with me when my aunt took me to the supermarket. I never imagined that his real intentions were not what they seemed."
"Your uncle bought you so much good food, you're obligated to help him out, aren't you?"
"Okay! I won't eat food bought by other people again next time."
Xia Minmin saw her father from a distance, pacing back and forth in front of the supermarket, glancing towards the elementary school every now and then.
"Dad, I did it!"
"I skipped a grade!"
Xia Minmin dropped her schoolbag and rushed towards her father.
Xia Jianguo caught his daughter who rushed towards him and lifted her high in the air. "Dad, put me down. I'm a little embarrassed."
Li Chunmei picked up Xia Minmin's schoolbag that she had thrown on the ground and said, "Jianguo, Minmin is not a little girl anymore. Be careful not to hurt your back."
"I wasn't happy, I just wasn't paying attention for a moment."
Li Chunmei turned to look at Xia Minmin, "And you, no matter how happy you are, you can't just throw your schoolbag on the ground!"
"Okay, Mom. I promise it won't happen again."
The owners of several shops next door came out after hearing the noise.
"What happened to your family? You seem so happy, tell us so we can share in the excitement!"
"Oh, it's nothing serious. My daughter Xiaomin skipped a grade and will be going to sixth grade when school starts!"
Xia Jianguo's words were very humble, but his expression was anything but humble.
Congratulations! Congratulations!
"Thank you! Thank you!"
"Jianguo, you have to treat us to a meal!"
"Next time! Next time!"
