Chapter 131 The Passively Combined "Natural Face Couple"

Two cars were driving one after the other on the road leading to the town hospital.

In the previous car, the driver was Huo Yunchao, the passenger was Xue Qiandai, and Rong Xiao, all alone, sat in the back, occasionally glancing at the two people in the front row who were interacting.

"Beautiful lady, why did you come today? Didn't you say you wouldn't have time until the day after tomorrow?" Xue Qiandai's eyes sparkled, and the corners of her mouth remained upturned.

"We wanted to see you. We actually set off when you sent your location, but we didn't tell you because we wanted to surprise you."

What a wonderful surprise!

"So what are your plans for the next few days?"

"There's a press conference tomorrow morning at the Huanglong Sports Center in Hangzhou. The rest of the time is yours." Huo Yunchao drove steadily, keeping his eyes on Xue Qiandai as he spoke.

Xue Qiandai's eyebrows formed crescent moons, her heart filled with joy. "Then I want to visit West Lake, and I also want to stroll along Su Causeway and Bai Causeway."

Rong Xiao kicked the car seat, feeling like he was superfluous. "Can't you two be a little considerate of other people's feelings?"

Huo Yunchao looked at the arrogant Rong Xiao through the rearview mirror and said, "You can choose not to ride in our car. If you're going to be a third wheel, you should be self-aware and turn down or turn off your lights."

"Hmph!" Rong Xiao threw a punch at the air, then pulled his hand back and breathed on it. "For Consort Dai's sake, I won't bother with you."

It's infuriating! Neither the Consort Dai, whom he likes, nor the Consort Huo, whom he doesn't dislike, have any respect for him.

The next car was borrowed from Director Cheng. Qin Shu was the driver, Jian Yan was in the passenger seat, and Jian Yan's parents and the old lady were crammed into the back.

The old lady had been sizing up the young man ever since he got on the bus. Although he seemed a bit frivolous, she appeared to really care about her granddaughter. And his clothes and demeanor suggested he was quite wealthy. Perhaps her grandson's future would depend on this future brother-in-law.

"Hello, are you Xiaoyan's boyfriend?" the old lady asked.

Qin Shu seemed not to understand, "What did your grandma say?"

Jian Yan was too embarrassed to answer, her face flushed, and she whispered, "She asked you what you do."

"Ah," Qin Shu raised his voice, afraid the old lady wouldn't hear him because of the car noise, "Programmer, the one who writes code."

The old lady had heard from her neighbors that programmers in big cities have a lucrative future. "Their monthly salary must be very high. How many years have they been working?"

Qin Shu then turned to Jian Yan for help.

Jane, the translator, skipped the first question and said, "She asked how many years you've been working."

Qin Shu thought about it seriously. Actually, he and Huo Yunchao were the same age. They had only graduated from graduate school not long ago, but he had been starting his own business for three years.

"Grandma, I just graduated."

The old lady looked at her and deflated like a punctured balloon. "She's so old to have graduated; her intelligence must be lacking. And graduating right now means she has no savings or connections." She said, "Xiaoyan, stop talking about it. Break up while you're still young and find someone with a better family background."

Jian Yan looked at Qin Shu, who was still laughing, pinched her brow, and reluctantly translated, "My grandma said, young man, you have to work hard!"

Qin Shu responded.

The old lady wasn't satisfied with just breaking up the couple, so she patted her son and said, "Your daughter has always been stubborn. You should advise her to break off the relationship as soon as possible, lest she get too deeply involved and can't extricate herself. I don't care, though. I'm already halfway to the grave, and you'll still have to rely on your daughter and son-in-law to take care of you in your old age."

Mr. Jian looked out the window. It was the hottest time of year, and the leaves on the trees looked listless. People were wishing for a typhoon to bring rain, and he felt very irritable. "Mom, Xiaoyan knows what she's doing, so don't worry about it."

Jane's father was fairly open-minded, but he really didn't have much say in the family.

Jian's mother interjected, "Xiao Qin, drive faster, I'm afraid they'll hit my son."

Her Mandarin wasn't perfect, but Qin Shu understood. He glanced at the girl beside him, her lips tightly pressed together, standing alone, and suddenly felt a pang of heartache. "Don't worry, there's no hurdle you can't overcome. Don't you still have me and Lao Huo?"

With Old Huo and Old Qin together, aside from everything else, we're rich.

A strange sense of peace.

Jian Yan stared at her feet and said, "Qin Shu, thank you."

Two cars carrying eight people made quite a spectacle as they entered the town hospital.

The town hospital wasn't large. The man who was hit was in his twenties. He was in the orthopedic clinic, his arm in a cast, leaning against the bed with his eyes closed.

There were also two other young men, one wearing a tank top and with his hair in a braid; the other had a fierce look and tattoos on his arms. These two were clearly the victim's "family members".

Jian Yan's younger brother, Jian Yao, squatted on the ground like a helpless little pitiful thing, waiting for someone to come and redeem him.

"grandson!"

"son!"

Grandma Jian and Mrs. Jian asked in unison, pulling Jian Yao up from the ground and carefully checking him over. "They didn't give you any trouble, did they?"

Jian Yao's eyes were panicked and darted around. "I, I... Grandma, Mom, please give them money and get me out of here. I don't want to go to jail, sob sob sob."

The two family members clearly hadn't expected so many people to come. The woman with the braid took a step back, while the tattooed man cracked his knuckles, revealing the muscles in his arms, as if he wouldn't give up until he got paid.

Grandma Jian was terrified and cried to Jian Yan, "Xiao Yan, why don't you hurry up and give us the money to save your brother?"

Qin Shu and Huo Yunchao exchanged a glance, then he said gently to Jian Yan, "You two keep quiet, leave the rest to me and Lao Huo."

Jian Yan hummed in agreement.

Qin Shu slipped away.

Huo Yunchao looked around, his voice carrying an imposing air, "Who among you is a family member? Who has the authority to make decisions?"

The tattooed man stepped forward, looking menacing: "I'm telling you right now, my brother was hit by that kid from the Jian family. He was injured and missed work, not to mention there might be some aftereffects. Nobody will let this go until he pays 100,000 yuan. He'll be going to jail and facing a lawsuit."
