When Jianyan saw her grandmother, who had changed 180 degrees, her opportunistic behavior was utterly embarrassing.
"Give me an answer, Jian Xiaoyan, whether you're going or not." Qin Shu resumed his carefree and jovial demeanor.
"Jian, come with me." Xue Qiandai quickly offered a way out, worried that Jian Yan might feel embarrassed.
Jian Yan nodded in agreement.
The group left the hospital in a large procession.
Qin Shu deliberately lagged behind a few steps, called out to Jian Yao, and kept a certain distance from the main group.
Jian Yao was timid and dared not look him in the eye. "Brother-in-law... sister."
He had been holding a lot of anger in his stomach, but this address relieved most of it. Qin Shu rubbed his mouth and said, "Kid, you're not young anymore, are you? Can't you give your sister a break? At the very least, you can't collude with outsiders to cheat your sister, can you?"
Jian Yao stared at Qin Shu in disbelief, his eyes mostly white. "Brother-in-law... I don't understand what you're saying."
Qin Shu grabbed Jian Yao's head with one hand and bumped it against his own chest. It looked like a very intimate action between boys, but in reality, Jian Yao was in so much pain that he almost cried.
"Don't play dumb, they've all confessed. A real man takes responsibility for his actions, at least act like a man. From now on, I'll keep your sister's earnings safe. If you want to mess with your sister, you'll have to get past me first, okay?"
"Why should I?" Jian Yao bristled, only realizing he'd inadvertently confessed when he met Qin Shu's eyes. He lowered his head. "I know. You're so capable, how could I dare?"
"Also, you're such a grown-up, stop thinking about sponging off your parents. Go out into the big city, gain some life experience. Can your parents and grandma take care of you forever?" Qin Shu, acting as Teacher Qin, taught by example.
Jian Yao seemed to have finally figured it out, "Brother-in-law, can I follow you? You seem really awesome!"
"You'll have to ask your sister if she agrees." Having said that, Qin Shu caught up with them in a few strides.
Upon arriving at the parking space outside the hospital, Director Cheng's car was to be returned. This time, however, Jian Yao was also present.
"What did you just say to my brother?" Jian Yan asked Qin Shu.
Qin Shu scratched the back of his head, looking around at the scenery. Jian Yao sidled up to him with a grin, "This is a secret between men."
Fortunately, Jian Yao did not expose Qin Shu's secret.
We part ways here.
Jian Yao drove the Jian family back home. Qin Shu and Jian Yan got into Huo Yunchao's car.
The car sensed its owner's mood and sped off towards Hangzhou.
With three people in the back row, it was inevitably a bit crowded, especially for Rong Xiao, who was struggling to move around and kept glaring at Qin Shu in the middle. He was quite unhappy that Qin Shu had stolen his thunder today. "You're crowding me."
Qin Shutang rolled his eyes with an air of self-righteousness, "You're fat and you still blame others for taking up space?"
Rong Xiao: "...Are you blind or something? Have you ever seen a fat person with such a great figure?"
Qin Shu glanced out the window, then looked at Jian Yan out of the corner of his eye, and said, "Young Master Rong, have you noticed that there's someone in the car who seems particularly superfluous?"
"Consort Dai! Xiaodou... Jianyan!" Rong Xiao clutched his heart, pointing at Qin Shu, "Am I still your partner? I've been bullied! Someone's bullying me!"
Xue Qiandai had a terrible headache. She turned around from the passenger seat and was about to speak when she heard Huo Yunchao coldly say, "Call me Consort Dai again, and believe me, I'll leave you on the highway."
Rong Xiao immediately covered his mouth, remaining silent as a cicada in winter, his eyes brimming with tears.
In this somewhat disharmonious carriage, amidst the tense situation, Rong Xiao heard a particularly heartwarming sentence: "Xiao Xiao, thank you for today." Thank you for protecting me in this crucial moment.
Sure enough, the tense atmosphere dissipated. Jian Yan's words were worth a thousand.
"Jian Yan, you're the best!" Rong Xiao's handsome face flushed slightly with emotion, making his lips and teeth appear even more red and his teeth even whiter, making him even more charming.
Qin Shu tilted his head, secretly wondering if he had gained another formidable rival? Damn, he seems quite powerful!
*
They arrived in Hangzhou at 8 p.m. Their destination was the Lou Wai Lou Hotel on the shore of West Lake, and the traffic on the way there had been terrible.
Once inside the private room, Xue Qiandai leaned against the window, gazing at the vast expanse of West Lake, with its rows of painted boats and twinkling lights—a scene of paradise on earth. All the day's fatigue and unpleasantness vanished.
"My beauty, you really know how to choose a place; it suits my taste perfectly."
Huo Yunchao sat down next to her, and even though the bone china bowl was almost a mirror, he still rinsed it for her. "I'm glad you like it. After we finish eating, we'll go for a boat ride."
Is this some kind of romantic gesture? Xue Qiandai was practically mesmerized by his gaze.
"Jian Xiaoyan, let's go on a boat trip and see all ten scenic spots of West Lake." Qin Shu said through gritted teeth. Anyone can show off their love, right? He completely forgot that she was the official couple, while he, Qin Shu, was still nameless and unmarried.
Jian Yan glanced at Rong Xiao; that would leave him all alone, which wasn't ideal. "You guys go ahead, I want to get some rest."
Why would someone take a cruise ship alone? Was he really going to be with this weirdo who looked more like a monster than a woman? Qin Shu felt a chill run down his spine; goosebumps were rising on his skin.
Seeing Qin Shu's discomfiture, Rong Xiao's mood immediately brightened. "Jian Yan, if you don't like boat trips, I can accompany you to see the stars."
Qin Shu: "...There are no stars today. The weather forecast said that a typhoon will make landfall."
They even brought up typhoons.
Xue Qiandai was on the verge of collapse, her finger jabbing her palm. "Stop. From now on, no talking while eating. Whoever stirs up trouble again will have to pay for their own five-star hotel stay. My beauty, where are you staying?"
"Next door, the Shanwaishan Hotel."
No wonder people say, "Of all the places in Jiangnan, Hangzhou is the most memorable." Even the names of hotels and restaurants are so romantic and full of cultural heritage.
