Chapter 40 Liu Sixi Becomes an Apprentice

"Big sister, from now on this entire Wutong Town is yours. You can tell us who to beat up, and we'll beat up whoever you want."

The little beggar in the lead spoke with a sycophantic look on his face.

"Who's your eldest sister? I don't need you to beat anyone up. Just don't bully others in the future," Liu Sisi replied.

"Yes, we understand. Then, we'll be going now, sister."

After saying that, the little beggar wanted to run away with his brothers.

"Wait a minute," Liu Sisi called out to them.

The little beggar who hadn't managed to escape turned around and said with a fawning expression, "Whatever you command."

"May I have your name?"

“Liu Sheng,” the little beggar replied.

"I understand. You can go now. If I ever need your help in the future, I'll come here and draw a square mark on the wall."

"Okay! Got it." Liu Sheng said and ran off as if his life depended on it, ignoring his friends behind him.

"Little brother, open your eyes!" The adorable Liu Sile really listened to his sister, who kept covering his eyes without saying a word.

Sister, you're amazing! Liu Sile just heard you chase them all away. They were even calling you "Big Sister!" Haha.

"Ruan Xicheng, come on, I'll take you to change into some clean clothes and get you some food."

Liu Sisi decided to go all the way and, seeing how pitiful the child was, took him back to her shop to clean him up. His face was so dirty you couldn't even recognize him.

"I," Ruan Xicheng said, seeing how dirty he was, afraid that he might have soiled the girl's clothes, so he hid behind and followed.

"How old are you?" Liu Sisi asked on the way back.

“I’m ten years old,” Ruan Xicheng said in a voice as soft as a mosquito’s buzz.

"Ten years old? You're two years older than me, how come you look so small?"

"I," Ruan Xicheng didn't know how to answer. He was always hungry, so of course he was small.

Back at the shop, Liu Sisi asked Liu Sile to take him to the back of the house to fetch water for washing up. She then went to the clothing shop to buy him a clean set of clothes and gave them to him so he could change.

Liu Sisi's family members were also puzzled when they saw her bring a little beggar home.

"Daughter, what is this?" Madam Wu asked.

Liu Sisi then recounted what had just happened to them.

“He’s a pitiful child too,” Wu said after hearing the news.

As they were talking, Ruan Xicheng had already washed up and changed into clean clothes.

Liu Sisi looked at that face with its exquisitely delicate features and exotic charm, and her eyes showed amazement.

He thought to himself, "What a handsome guy! He'll be a heartthrob when he grows up."

Mrs. Wu had already prepared rice noodles for him.

"Come on, child, have a bowl of rice noodles!" Wu saw that Ruan Xicheng was thin and small. She heard from her daughter that he was already ten years old, half a head shorter than the two brothers Liu Siping and Liu Si'an, who were about the same age.

"Child, where are your family members?" Mrs. Wu wanted to ask about his family situation and see if she could help look for them if she could find them.

Ruan Xicheng sat down and took a bite of rice noodles. He thought it was so delicious that he had never eaten anything so good before.

He ate heartily, but when he heard Wu ask about his family, his hand paused while eating the rice noodles, and his eyes immediately filled with tears.

She choked up and didn't answer.

Seeing that the child did not answer, Ms. Wu did not press the matter further. She did not know the other person's situation, and perhaps the other person did not want to talk about their family.

When they returned to the village that evening, Liu Dashi brought him back as well. He didn't want to talk, so he let him stay with them for a few days.

We can send him away once he's willing to talk. It's just a matter of adding another pair of chopsticks. As long as he behaves himself and doesn't cause trouble, it's fine.

When Liu Sisi got home, she saw that Doctor Jiang was already able to move around freely.

After all, he was a doctor, and with Liu Sixi's meticulous care, he recovered quickly by following the prescription Liu Sixi gave him and applying the herbs Liu Sixi had collected from the mountain.

However, even Doctor Jiang himself felt that the recovery was unusually fast, and he was somewhat puzzled as to why. He didn't think about it any further, only assuming that it was because Liu Sixi had taken such good care of him.

During this time, he could see that Liu Sixi had a talent for medicine, was diligent, and had a strong interest in it, so he decided to formally take Liu Sixi as his apprentice.

Liu Sixi was overjoyed to hear this. As soon as Liu Dashi and the others returned, she told her parents and asked them to help prepare the apprenticeship ceremony.

"Grandpa Jiang, your leg is completely healed!" Liu Sisi asked as soon as she got off the carriage.

"Yes, Grandpa is all better now! He can take your fifth brother as his apprentice tomorrow."

Doctor Jiang also liked Liu Sisi very much. During his stay here, he had a very good impression of Liu Dashi's family, which was part of the reason why he was willing to take her on as a disciple.

"I'm so sorry to have troubled you all these past few days. I've been eating and drinking at your house for so long without paying. I'll go back and get some silver to make it up to you," said Doctor Jiang.

"You're too kind. I just heard from Sixi that you're taking him on as your apprentice tomorrow. That's the greatest compensation we can receive."

With Doctor Jiang soon to be his son's mentor, Liu Dashi no longer cared about such things.

Ruan Xicheng, hiding behind, said somewhat reservedly and in a low voice, "Miss Sisi, you have already helped me a lot. I can't stay at your house forever. I just hope you can teach me some martial arts so that I can protect myself."

Liu Sisi has always practiced her skills on her own and has never taught anyone before! She really doesn't know how to teach.

Suddenly, a brilliant idea flashed through her mind, and she took out the martial arts manual "The Ethereal Shadowless Step" from her sleeve—or rather, from her spatial storage.

I opened it and took a look. It's similar to her "Jade Goddess Palm" book. It's mostly pictures, so he should be able to understand it!

Liu Sisi handed the manual to Ruan Xicheng and said, "Take it and practice! As for whether you can master it, that depends on your own talent."

But you've learned that you must never do evil, otherwise if I find out, I'll deal with you myself.

"Understood, I will keep your words in mind."

Liu Dashi knew that his son's apprenticeship was a big deal, so he immediately decided to hold a proper apprenticeship ceremony for his son.

The next day, he didn't go to the shop, since his sons were home and could help out anyway.

He went to the county town to buy the six gifts required for the apprenticeship ceremony, as well as everything his son needed to prepare for the ceremony, and arranged everything according to the etiquette for students of the Tianlong Kingdom to become doctors.

Nothing can be missing. This is a divine physician! All the medical students in the entire Tianlong Kingdom want to become his disciples. Since his son has such great fortune, he will naturally do his best to help him.

After the apprenticeship ceremony, Doctor Jiang took Liu Sixi to Medicine King Valley. He had been traveling for too long and Medicine King Valley needed to be repaired.

Doctor Jiang only accepted two apprentices. One was the son of a high-ranking official, who could not be his successor.

The other one is Liu Sixi. He likes Liu Sixi very much and plans to groom him as his successor.

He owns his own businesses, with many pharmacies across the country, all managed by others. He's used to being laid-back and doesn't want to spend all his time in the shops.

He only wanted to travel around. If he encountered someone in need of medical treatment on the road, he would treat them. If the person was poor, he would waive the consultation fee. If the person was wealthy, he would accept the consultation fee without hesitation.
