Chapter 379: Back to the Capital

Chapter 379: Back to the Capital

Fu Linghe slept very late yesterday, but when Yun Zheng woke up, he was no longer by her side.

She rubbed her sleepy eyes and found that he was standing by the window with his back to her, his slender figure outlined in a hazy shape by the morning light.

The curtains were only slightly ajar, and the sunlight slashed across the floor like a golden sword.

Fu Linghe stood there motionless, with the phone pressed to his ear, talking in a very low voice.

Yun Zheng could hardly hear what he was saying.

Yun Zheng gently propped herself up, and the mattress made a slight sound.

Fu Linghe turned around immediately, saw that she was awake, quickly hung up the phone, and walked to the bed in two steps.

"Awake?" He sat on the edge of the bed and reached out to help her sit up.

There were two obvious dark circles under his eyes, his silver-gray hair was a little messy, and his shirt collar was open, revealing a shallow scratch on his collarbone.

There is no doubt that this is the trace left by Yun Zheng!

Yun Zheng was about to speak when a familiar feeling of nausea suddenly rose in her throat.

She suddenly covered her mouth, but Fu Linghe reacted faster than her. He grabbed the trash can at the head of the bed and held her back firmly with his other hand.

"Slow down..." His voice was strained.

This time it was just dry heaving. Yun Zheng leaned back on the pillow, panting, and found that Fu Linghe's face was even paler than hers.

"I'm fine," she forced a smile, her face pale.

"Are you hungry?" Fu Linghe looked at her, his eyes flickering with anxiety. "I asked the kitchen to prepare a few more dishes. There must be one that you like..."

His words came to an abrupt end as Yun Zheng suddenly grabbed his wrist.

Her fingers were cold, but she held him firmly.

"Fu Linghe," she whispered, "look at me."

Fu Linghe's Adam's apple rolled, and his obsidian eyes met her gaze.

Only then did Yun Zheng realize that his eyes were full of red bloodshot and his pupils were trembling slightly.

"You didn't get enough rest last night," she stroked his tense cheek, "Go get some sleep, okay?"

Fu Linghe shook his head and stubbornly picked up the thermos cup on the bedside table. "Drink some water first, then try this."

He opened the lid of the cup and a fresh lemon scent wafted out.

Yun Zheng was surprised to find that she did not feel nauseous immediately.

"I've looked up a lot of information," Fu Linghe said, carefully supporting the bottom of the cup. "Lemon water with honey, kept at 37 degrees Celsius, has minimal irritation to the stomach and can relieve morning sickness."

Yun Zheng sipped the lemonade, and miraculously, her stomach didn't churn.

Fu Linghe stared at her without blinking, waiting for his reaction.

"It tastes good." Yun Zheng said softly.

Fu Linghe's shoulders relaxed visibly.

Yun Zheng drank half a cup and stopped drinking. Fu Linghe took the cup and put it aside.

"Did you hear what I just said to you? Go to sleep."

She held the man's hand tightly, and her tone was not a negotiation but an order!

Fu Linghe reached out and ruffled her messy hair, with a smile in his tone, "Be good, I can't sleep, I'll sleep after I get on the plane."

"I've packed everything. You can eat something first. After breakfast, we'll set off, okay?"

Yun Zheng knew that he really couldn't sleep, so she didn't force him and nodded slightly.

The servant quickly pushed breakfast up, and a variety of breakfasts were placed on the exquisite tray.

The aroma of food instantly filled the room.

Yun Zheng's stomach immediately churned again. She covered her mouth suddenly, her face pale.

Fu Linghe was quick to grab the trash can and firmly supported her back with his other hand. He said in a tense voice, "Slow down..."

But this time, Yun Zheng couldn't control herself at all. Her stomach was churning. She bent over and retched into the trash can. Her throat felt burning and tears were forced out.

She vomited so hard that she almost vomited out all the acid in her stomach.

Fu Linghe's expression was even uglier than hers. He hugged her tightly, stroking her back gently with his fingers, and said in a low, hoarse voice, "Zheng Zheng..."

Seeing this, the servant immediately took the breakfast away and replaced it with a bowl of light millet porridge.

Fu Linghe took the bowl, scooped a spoonful, blew it gently to cool it, and handed it to her lips. "Try this?"

She hasn't eaten anything since yesterday, and she's pregnant, so how can she bear it?

Yun Zheng forced herself to drink two sips, and her stomach finally stopped churning immediately, but her face was still as pale as paper, and a thin layer of cold sweat broke out on her forehead.

When Fu Linghe looked at her like this, his heart felt like it was being tightly grasped by someone.

He put down the bowl, gently wiped the water stains from her lips with his fingertips, and whispered, "Zheng Zheng, why don't we stay in Country A for a while and go back when your condition stabilizes."

Yun Zheng shook her head stubbornly, her fingers tightly gripping his sleeve. "I want to go back."

She didn't know if it was because of her pregnancy, but she inexplicably wanted to go back to the capital and couldn't wait to return to her and Fu Linghe's home.

Fu Linghe looked at her stubborn eyes and finally compromised.

He sighed, held her in his arms, and whispered, "Okay, let's go back."

——

Two hours later, at Country A Airport.

The Mohist people had already been waiting in the VIP lounge.

Ning Zhi's eyes welled up when she saw Yun Zheng. She quickly stepped forward, gently hugged her daughter, and asked in a choked voice, "Why do you look so bad?"

Yun Zheng forced a smile and said, "Mom, I'm fine. I just have some severe morning sickness."

Ning Zhi touched her face distressedly, turned to look at Fu Linghe, and said in a rare serious tone, "Promise me that you will take good care of her."

Fu Linghe nodded, his voice low and firm, "I will."

Mo Shi'an stood aside. Although he was reluctant to leave his sister, he just patted Fu Linghe's shoulder and whispered, "Be careful on the road."

Mr. Mo and Mo Chenfeng called Fu Linghe aside.

Old Master Mo looked dignified, his gaze sharp. "Fu Linghe, Zheng Zheng is the apple of our Mo family's eye. Since you've chosen to be with her, the relationship between the Fu and Mo families, which is as hostile as fire and water, cannot continue like this."

Fu Linghe looked calm and nodded, "I understand."

Mo Chenfeng said calmly, "After you return, you'd better say hello to Mr. Fu first. We will go to the capital in person in a while to discuss your affairs."

Fu Linghe's eyes darkened slightly, and his tone was steady: "I will take care of it."

Mr. Mo nodded and said nothing more.

He walked to Yun Zheng's side, his wrinkled hands tightly gripping the dragon head of his crutch, his knuckles turning white.

He looked at Yun Zheng's pale face, his Adam's apple rolled a few times, but he didn't say a word in the end. He just tremblingly took out a brocade bag embroidered with a pair of lotus flowers from the inner pocket of his Zhongshan suit.

"Grandpa went to the temple specifically to ask for this." The old man pressed the brocade bag into Yun Zheng's palm, his dry palm wrapped around his granddaughter's cold fingers. "It contains a blessed talisman for pregnancy protection."

Yun Zheng suddenly felt her palms getting hot.

"Thank you, Grandpa." Her voice was choked with sobs, and the silk thread of the brocade bag hurt her palms.

Ning Zhi suddenly turned around and took out an insulated bag from her bag, which contained twelve crystal clear ice boxes neatly stacked inside.

"This is the sour plum jelly my mom made overnight. She used the best variety of green plums."

She stuffed the ice boxes one by one into the side pocket of Fu Linghe's briefcase. "If she vomits a lot, just hold a small piece in her mouth. Don't let her eat on an empty stomach."

Fu Linghe nodded silently, watching his mother-in-law's nails, dyed red, leave a few messy water marks on the ice box.

Mo Shian stood next to the luggage cart, the boarding pass between his fingers already crumpled.

He suddenly strode over, took off the mutton-fat jade peace locket from his neck, and hung it around Yun Zheng's neck. "Wear it, it will keep you safe."

Yun Zheng touched the jade pendant which still had body temperature, and suddenly found a fresh wound on her brother's right ring finger.

It was left behind when he personally carved the ice box for her to hold plum jelly this morning. There was a small kite pattern carved on the inside of the sandalwood lid.

"Brother..." She was interrupted by the flight attendant and Fu Linghe as soon as she opened her mouth.

"Mr. Fu, you and your wife can board the flight now."

Mo Chenfeng raised his hand and looked at his watch. This man, who was always decisive and resolute, was standing there without moving.

Half of a velvet box was exposed in his trouser pocket. It was a custom-made smart bracelet that he had picked up this morning and could monitor heart rate and blood pressure.

"Dad?" Yun Zheng looked at him puzzledly.

Mo Chenfeng suddenly handed the box to Fu Linghe, "The data will be synchronized to the Mo family medical team every day."

Fu Linghe nodded solemnly and put the bracelet on Yun Zheng.

The moment the platinum chain clasp closed around the wrist, the mobile phones of everyone in the Mo family vibrated, and the medical team's real-time monitoring system was activated.

The glass door of the VIP channel slowly opened, and Ning Zhi reached out and grabbed her daughter's wrist.

Her lips trembled, and her well-maintained face looked a little old in the morning light, but in the end she said nothing.

Old Master Mo slammed the ground hard with his cane, then turned and walked towards the floor-to-ceiling window.

"It's time to go." Fu Linghe gently put his arm around his wife's shoulders and felt her thin body trembling slightly.

Mo Shian suddenly grabbed the suitcase and said, "Send it to the jet bridge."

Without waiting for anyone to react, he had already strode towards the security checkpoint, and the wheels of his suitcase left two shallow water marks on the smooth ground.

So the family walked through the VIP channel in silence.

Ning Zhi adjusted Yun Zheng's scarf as she walked, Mo Chenfeng checked the surveillance data on his mobile phone from time to time, and the old man walked faster than anyone else with a cane.

"Keep in touch with us when you get back." Mo Shi'an emphasized as he handed his carry-on case to the flight attendant, his fingers leaving slightly moist fingerprints on the handle. "Whenever you want to go home, tell me and I'll pick you up."

Yun Zheng nodded.

Before the hatch closed, Ning Zhi suddenly stood on tiptoe and shouted inside, "Take good care of yourself and eat well..."

As the plane taxied, Yun Zheng saw through the window that the Mo family's car was still parked at the edge of the apron.

Four figures stood beside the car. Mo Shian's coat was blown up by the wind, like a kite ready to take off at any time.

Fu Linghe fastened her seat belt and brushed her wet eyes with his fingertips. "Sleep for a while?"

He adjusted the seat angle to the most comfortable one and took out the sour plum jelly prepared by Ning Zhi from the side pocket of his briefcase.

When the sandalwood box lid was opened, a faint scent of plum mixed with mint filled the cabin.

Yun Zheng was holding a cool jelly in her mouth when she suddenly discovered that Fu Linghe also had a fresh wound on his left ring finger.

It was scratched by the zipper when he secretly stuffed special products from Country A into the compartment of her suitcase this morning.

"You are injured too!" She held her husband's hand, the blood had solidified into dark red lines.

Fu Linghe rubbed her cheek with his knuckles, "Silly girl, this is not a serious injury."

Outside the porthole, the Mo family members were still standing there watching them.

Yun Zheng put her hand against the cold glass, and the smart bracelet on her wrist felt slightly warm.

Fu Linghe gently covered her with a blanket, and the lemon water in the thermos was maintained at a perfect 37 degrees.

Yun Zheng closed her eyes in the sweet fragrance of honey, still holding the amulet given by her grandfather in her palm.
