Chapter 4 How about getting the marriage certificate today?
Fu Linghe's words hit Yun Zheng's heart unexpectedly.
She slowly raised her head, her gaze met Fu Linghe's eyes as deep as the sea, and for a moment she was somewhat lost in them.
Yun Zheng didn't know what kind of magic potion she had been fed, but she actually believed him subconsciously!
"Okay, it's getting late, let's eat something first." Fu Linghe's voice came slowly, like the warm sun in winter, melting the ice and snow wherever it went.
The small mole on the man's nose seemed to have some magical power, and it could easily steal Yun Zheng's attention.
Just as Fu Linghe turned around and was about to leave, the fog that was entangled in Yun Zheng's heart seemed to be blown away quietly by a breeze.
She suddenly came to her senses and called out to him, "Mr. Fu!"
Fu Linghe stopped when he heard the voice, turned around and looked at her, with a barely perceptible expectation in his eyes.
Yun Zheng looked at the man steadily, a hint of timidity in her already wavering expression. She asked seriously, "Aren't you afraid of being laughed at by others if you marry me?"
Yun Zheng knew very well that this circle was the most hypocritical. To put it bluntly, arranged marriages were just a transaction where both parties got what they wanted. Marriages valued family background and whether the two families were well-matched, while feelings became the most insignificant thing.
Fu Linghe stood there quietly, his eyes fixed on her face. His expression dimmed for a moment, but after a moment, he raised his eyebrows and smiled, "It's not anyone else's turn to make irresponsible remarks about my marriage."
He paused slightly, his eyes softened, and his voice grew deeper and richer. "Yun Zheng, I know you've been through a lot lately, so when you think about things, you can't help but put a filter on yourself."
"Yun Zheng, your life experience shouldn't be a shackle that holds you back. Just like a kite soaring in the sky, from the moment it's released, it belongs solely to the vast sky, no longer bound by a single string."
"You are very good. Don't doubt yourself easily because of a few words from others."
Yun Zheng was stunned for a moment, obviously not expecting to hear such words from Fu Linghe.
She stared at Fu Linghe blankly, and time seemed to freeze at this moment.
Deep down in Yun Zheng's heart, something was quietly loosening. It was the inferiority complex that had been built up by other people's words in recent times.
The original Yun Zheng was confident and bright. Even if she lost her identity as the eldest daughter of the Yun family, she would only be proud.
She opened her mouth, but didn't know how to respond for a moment. However, her eyes, which were originally full of worry, gradually showed a different light, like the dawn light penetrating the clouds at dawn.
Fu Linghe looked at her, with a seriousness in his deep eyes. He leaned forward slightly, shortening the distance between him and Yun Zheng. He raised his eyebrows slightly, and a subtle arc appeared at the corner of his mouth.
"Don't put too much pressure on yourself. Wanting to marry you is my business. As for whether you agree or not? The right to choose is in your hands. I have no right to interfere."
He straightened up, his hands casually shoved into his trouser pockets, his expression relaxed and at ease. "I, Fu Linghe, don't have a habit of forcing others. In real life, robbery is illegal."
Yun Zheng took a deep breath, as if mustering up her courage. She looked straight into Fu Linghe's eyes and said firmly, "I agree to marry you!"
Fu Linghe's body suddenly froze, his eyebrows trembled slightly, and his eyes, which were as calm as a mirror, began to ripple, like a gust of wind sweeping across the calm sea, causing thousands of waves to surge in an instant.
He quickly recovered from his brief moment of daze, his thin lips curled up slightly, the arc of his mouth just right, adding a touch of seductiveness to his already handsome face. "Is it convenient for us to get the certificate today?"
"Are you in such a hurry?" Yun Zheng tilted her head slightly, a few strands of hair on her forehead gently sliding down her cheeks, her tone filled with a hint of surprise.
"I'm afraid you'll regret it, so I'm single."
Fu Linghe took a step with his long legs, shortening the distance between them. He raised his hand and gently smoothed the hair on her forehead.
Fu Linghe's warm fingertips touched her forehead, and the delicate touch was like an electric current, spreading throughout Yun Zheng's body.
She subconsciously shrank back, her cheeks flushed slightly, and her heartbeat accelerated involuntarily.
"Is it inconvenient today?" Fu Linghe lowered his eyes slightly and looked at her with a questioning look.
Yun Zheng shook her head and said softly, "It's convenient."
"As long as it's convenient." Fu Linghe secretly breathed a sigh of relief. He reached out and held Yun Zheng's slender hand. This action was natural as if he had done it a thousand times. "Let's go get the certificate after dinner, Mrs. Fu."
Yun Zheng was not mentally prepared at all, and his calling her "Mrs. Fu" really made her a little at a loss.
A trace of panic flashed in her eyes, and her fingers unconsciously curled up slightly in Fu Linghe's warm big palm. She wanted to pull them out but was still greedy for that bit of warmth.
Fu Linghe naturally noticed her subtle movement and tightened his grip on her hand slightly, as if giving her silent comfort.
The two moved to the dining room, where the table was already filled with exquisite breakfast.
Fu Linghe gentlemanly pulled out the chair for her, and only after she sat down did he walk around and sit down opposite Yun Zheng.
He leaned forward slightly and switched the positions of the custard bun and the pan-fried bun in front of her. The whole process was smooth and there was no deliberateness at all.
Yun Zheng was a little surprised. It wasn't that she didn't like pan-fried buns, but she was not used to eating greasy food in the morning. Custard buns became her favorite and most common breakfast.
How did he know?
Fu Linghe seemed to see through her doubts and said softly, "This is Changji's custard bun. It tastes pretty good. Try it."
His tone was steady, without any hint of abnormality. Seeing how calm he was, Yun Zheng stopped thinking about it and just thought it was a coincidence.
She didn't say anything else and ate the breakfast in front of her in silence.
As soon as Yun Zheng put down her cutlery, Fu Linghe considerately handed her a napkin.
"Thank you." She thanked him politely, took the tissue and wiped the corners of her mouth elegantly.
"I'll accompany you back to get your household registration book, and then go to the Civil Affairs Bureau." Fu Linghe's low and magnetic voice was filled with extreme tenderness.
When Yun Zheng heard the word "household registration booklet", a hint of bitterness instantly appeared in the depths of her eyes. Her thoughts seemed to be pulled by an invisible hand, and she fell into a state of absent-mindedness for a short time.
She lowered her eyes slightly and said softly, "No, I brought my household registration book with me."
Fu Linghe was slightly startled, somewhat surprised. In his expectation, given the family's current attitude towards Yun Zheng, why would they hand over the household registration booklet to her for safekeeping? This was really beyond his expectations.
She got up and walked back to the master bedroom, took her handbag, took out the brand new household registration book from the bag, placed it on the table in front of Fu Linghe, and gently pushed it towards him.
Fu Linghe subconsciously reached out to pick it up, flipped it open casually with his fingers, and glanced at it inadvertently. He saw the words "Yun Zheng" prominently displayed on the household name page.
His brows furrowed slightly, and an indescribable emotion surged in his heart. He continued to turn the pages, but found that the entire household registration booklet contained nothing except Yun Zheng's lonely page.
Looking at the blank pages of paper, Fu Linghe's heart suddenly tightened.
