Shi Jin pointed around and said with a bit of dissatisfaction:
"This area is completely barren, and I don't know where to go."
Obviously, she was now in a shameless manner. Anyway, she had nowhere to go, so even if the two children did not welcome her, she would stay here.
When the child in the white robe heard this, the originally calm expression on his face suddenly became a little more lively, and he asked in a suggestive tone:
"Well, what do you think?"
Shi Jin was somewhat confused by the question:
"What?"
"Of course it's a wasteland. Do you think that's a good thing?"
"Only the devil thinks it's good."
Shi Jin replied unhappily.
Hearing this, the other child in a green robe suddenly lit up:
"Yes, yes, that's what I thought."
He looked Shi Jin up and down:
"You must be hungry, right?"
While asking this, the child had already picked out a random white chess piece from his own collection and handed it to Shi Jin:
"Take it."
"No, take mine!"
Seeing this, the child in white robe also took out a black chess piece and handed it to Shi Jin.
All of a sudden, strange multiple-choice questions appeared in front of the girl.
"Okay, okay."
After thinking it over, facing the hopeful gaze of the two children, Shi Jin held the white chess piece in his hand.
Obviously this one looks more harmless.
"Hehe~"
"Tsk, you have no vision."
The next moment after the white chess piece was taken, Shi Jin felt a warmth surge into his body. His original fatigue was swept away, and his already weak organs began to perk up, as if there was an invisible energy flowing through him.
She was about to say something, but saw the child in green robe signal her with his eyes.
Then the two children started a chess game that Shi Jin could not understand.
The time near the chessboard seemed to be cut off from the universe, and the surrounding world became a place as unattainable as the beautiful scenery outside the window.
Shi Jin forgot the passage of time. She held the chess piece as if her life would never run out.
The game gradually progressed to the middle stage. Although Shi Jin was a complete layman, he did understand everything.
She had already noticed the changes in the surrounding scenery. Every chess piece placed by the two children was enough to bring about a slight change in that desolate world.
Every time the green-robed child dropped a piece, Shi Jin could see vitality flourishing around him, and the trees, flowers and plants that had originally died became green again.
Every time the white-robed child made a move, the world around him seemed to be blown by a cold wind, and some lives that were full of vitality just a moment ago withered and decayed in an instant.
The two players were evenly matched in the game, and each had the upper hand at times. Although Shi Jin could not understand the chess game, he could feel the current situation through the changes in the surrounding scenery.
Gradually, the child in green robe seemed to have completely gained the upper hand. Even though his opponents would sometimes launch counterattacks, it would only bring a cold winter to the already lush outside world rather than complete withering.
Finally, after an unknown amount of time had passed, the child in green robe made his last move, completely declaring his victory.
The white chess pieces on the board shine brightly, as if they have become lives with their own consciousness at this moment.
It devoured the trapped black chess piece, and then slowly turned into nothingness with a satisfied roar.
The barrier around her seemed to break at this moment, and the gentle spring breeze blew across Shi Jin's neck, making her shiver lazily.
Looking around, the old tree that had been dead has now regained new life, with old and new branches intertwining with each other and clusters of leaves overlapping each other.
The white-robed child first showed a look of astonishment on his face, and then he sighed in frustration:
"This time, I lost."
He dropped the black chess piece he was playing with and slowly stood up.
The child in green robe also left the cushion with a smile on his face, as if this victory brought him great joy.
"When is the next round?"
The green-robed child asked happily.
"Then you have to ask her."
The white-robed child, who had always had a bad attitude, suddenly pointed at Shi Jin. He leaned over and picked up the black chess piece he had thrown on the chessboard and said:
"Take it."
"ah?"
Shi Jin made a reluctant sound.
She always felt that the meaning of this white-robed child was not that good. If she took over his chess piece...
Just as he was about to reject the other party for the second time, he suddenly heard a gentle voice:
"Take it. Nothing is eternal in this world. The vitality at this moment is only a precursor to the next withering."
Shi Jin took the chess piece, and sure enough, another force began to take root in his body.
At this moment, Shi Jin realized that even if he had taken the black chess piece at that time, the final outcome would have been the same.
But my state will go from being full of vitality to another extreme, and I will be like a lifeless stone statue over a long period of time.
The green-robed child continued:
"You may have to help us guard the chessboard later."
Shi Jin's concept of time was already somewhat fuzzy, she just asked ignorantly:
"Until when?"
“If anyone finds this place, I will give him a chess piece at random.
"When all the chess pieces are sent away, it's time for the next game to begin."
The figures of the two people became fainter and fainter, and finally disappeared in the vibrant woods.
The only traces left by the two men were a long path with vegetation that was obviously more lush than the surrounding vegetation and another path filled with withered and yellow grass.
