Chapter 189, /.

Bei Ji's sudden apology startled Si Yan slightly. Before she could react, Xi Qing's face turned ugly. He gritted his teeth and suddenly rushed forward, grabbing the cold braised pork with potatoes in front of him.

Si Yan: "..."

Seeing this, Bei Ji quickly rushed forward and hugged a pile of potatoes in the cave. The two little ones, carrying the food, ran out.

This sudden change caught the exhausted Si Yan off guard. She hurriedly got up to chase after them, but the two little ones had already run far away, and she was too tired to keep up.

Si Yan returned home in a huff, poked at the fire, feeling both furious and helpless.

She reheated the soup her two children hadn't drunk, took a few sips, ate some meat, and then went to bed.

The hard, animal-hide stone bed wasn't comfortable to sleep on, and Si Yan got up after only a short while. She stretched and decided to address the issue of bed comfort first.

The vegetation around the cave was quite lush. While weeding, Si Yan collected a lot of clean hay, shook off the dust, and put it in the sun to dry. After drying for a while, she wove the hay together.

Hay mats don't need to be woven too finely; a coarse weave actually makes them fluffier and more comfortable.

Before long, the hay mats were woven, and Si Yan hung the hay on the tree branches to continue drying.

Si Yan had just finished drying the straw mats when she heard a noisy commotion outside.

Hearing the faint voices of two little cubs, she quickly ran out.

Not far away, under a large tree, a tall, plump female grabbed Bei Ji and Xi Qing. Bei Ji and Xi Qing were dragged around in a very disheveled state by the plump female, and there seemed to be sweet potatoes scattered all over the ground.

"That cold-blooded snake-beastman nobody wants is out stealing again!" said the fat female bear.

Si Yan rushed over: "Stop! How dare you touch my baby!"

Xiong Nai looked at Si Yan strangely. Si Yan was a notorious bad female in the tribe, lazy and wicked, and didn't care about her cubs at all.

Seeing that Xiong Nai still wouldn't let go of her two cubs, little Xi Qing and Bei Ji struggled desperately, Si Yan ignored them and pounced on Xiong Nai to grab his hair. Xiong Nai's scalp hurt from being grabbed so much that he had no choice but to put the two cubs down.

"Si Yan, are you sick? These two little snakes are stealing things!" Xiong Nai said.

Having finally managed to break free, Xi Qing and Bei Ji quickly ran to the side, picking up the sweet potatoes from the ground and keeping a safe distance from Si Yan and Xiong Nai.

This wicked female never interferes with their affairs; if they cause trouble, she never asks why she beats them!

That wicked female will definitely help Xiong Nai fight them.

Xi Qing and Bei Ji stubbornly huddled together.

Si Yan saw that the two children were far away from her, and could tell that they didn't seem to care about her and were even avoiding her.

With a twitch at the corner of her mouth, Si Yan decided to deal with the people who bullied her two children first.

Si Yan continued to pull Xiong Nai's hair, asking coldly, "Why are you bullying my little one!?"

Xiong Nai hadn't expected this seemingly small and thin female to be so strong; she had actually hurt her. She was very unhappy: "I bullied the little one? Si Yan, you be reasonable! They stole my Red Earth Fruit! They're thieves!"

Red ground fruit is sweet potato.

Si Yan looked at the sweet potatoes they were holding: "Did you steal someone else's red field fruit?"

A hint of disdain and anger flashed across Xi Qing's face, while Bei Ji lowered his head.

Previously, whenever someone accused them of doing something wrong, the bad females would never intervene and would only believe outsiders. Getting a bad female to help them was practically impossible.

Si Yan glanced at the two children's expressions before turning back to Xiong Nai and saying, "They didn't steal your Red Earth Fruit."

Xi Qing and Bei Ji suddenly looked up at Si Yan.

Xiong Nai said, "Impossible!"

Si Yan: "You saw them steal it with your own eyes?"

Xiong Nai: "I put my red berries on the big leaves over there, and when I came back they were gone. But then I saw them walking over with the red berries. If they didn't steal them, who did?!"

Si Yan coldly said, "So you're saying they stole it even though you didn't see my little one steal your Red Earth Fruit?"

Xiong Nai: "Xi Qing and Bei Ji are notorious thieves in the tribe. There can't be anyone else like them!"

Xi Qing and Bei Ji turned away with grim expressions.

Si Yan asked with a stern face, "How long were you gone?"

Xiong Nai: "It won't be long, just a little while."

Si Yan said, "Then we shouldn't have gone far. You wait here."

Si Yan released Xiong Nai and walked closer to the large leaf. She touched the leaf and used her plant-based abilities to sense it, indeed detecting a faint scent of sweet potato. She crouched down to examine it herself and saw some small footprints left on the ground.

“Come and look,” Si Yan called out, “what kind of footprints are these?”

Xiong Nai rushed over and saw that there were indeed some plum blossom footprints next to the big leaf.

Xiong Nai asked doubtfully, "These look like the footprints of a bear cub. Could it really not be Xi Qing and Bei Ji who stole them?"

Si Yan saw the direction of the little footprints and ran over quickly. She parted the grass and sure enough, she saw several little bear cubs hiding in the grass, eating sweet potatoes with gusto!

Xiong Nai exclaimed in surprise, "It's Xiong Rou's baby!"

The ground was a mess; the sweet potatoes had been almost all eaten.

Without saying a word, Xiong Nai picked up the four little bear cubs on the ground. The little bear cubs didn't expect to be discovered, so they punched and kicked and howled like ghosts.

Si Yan glared fiercely at the four bear cubs. Perhaps Si Yan's gaze was too frightening, because the four bear cubs finally felt scared and quieted down.

Xi Qing and Bei Ji were still standing far away when Si Yan said sternly to Xiong Nai, "Xiong Nai, you need to apologize to Xi Qing and Bei Ji!"
