Chapter 170 Eagle Clan Side Quest

Chapter 170 Eagle Clan Side Quest

After leaving the Abandoned Beast Domain, Mo Li carried Shu Ning and the others, and they were almost at the Wolf Clan. Worried that Mo Li's newly transformed dragon body was not yet fully formed, Shu Ning insisted on continuing.

Perhaps due to the fatigue of the journey, she felt that her body had consumed a lot of energy, and in the end, she asked Jin Tong to help her return.

Thinking of Jin Tong, she suddenly remembered that Jin Tong liked to eat sweets.

Eating sweets...

Her eyes suddenly lit up; Cake Jin Tong definitely had never eaten it before.

But to make a cake, you need raw materials.

She asked herself, "007, do you have flour and sugar?"

"No, do you have wheat seeds?" she corrected herself.

"Yes, but you need to complete a side quest to receive it," 007 replied.

"What side quest?" Shu Ning asked.

“Find Xiao Chong’s mother,” 007 said.

"Didn't Xiao Chong's mother disappear more than ten years ago?" Shu Ning wondered to herself.

“That’s right, but she didn’t die. After that great battle, Xiao Chong’s mother, Xiao Xian, fell into a deep sleep after accidentally eating black water lily seeds. She was found by Cang Ling, the leader of the Eagle Clan, and has been hidden in the Eagle Feather Rift Valley in the Eagle Clan’s territory.”

"Eagle Feather Rift Valley?" Shu Ning asked, puzzled. "What kind of place is that?"

"That was a cliff, and Xiao Xian was in the most dangerous place, the one that was hardest for ordinary beastmen to reach."

Upon hearing this, Shu Ning realized that, as she had expected, such a place was far beyond the reach of a beastman like her who couldn't fly.

At that moment, she glanced at Mo Li, and an idea flashed through her mind.

"What's wrong?" Mo Li asked, noticing her gaze.

"I don't have much food left in my storage space. We'll have to wait until we get back..."

“That’s easy. After we go back and rest for a while, I’ll go and hunt some game for you,” Mo Li said.

"Ningning, what do you want? I'll go and get it for you right now," Jin Tong said to Shu Ning.

"Either is fine," Shu Ning said.

"Okay." After saying that, Jin Tong ran into the forest next to her.

After returning to the wolf clan, she passed by the river and filled her space with a lot of water before going straight back into the cave.

Everyone else went back to their respective places.

Shu Ning gently pushed open her door.

Seeing Han She still lying there, Shu Ning reached out and touched his forehead.

At this moment, Han She opened his eyes. Seeing that he was awake, Shu Ning asked with gentle concern, "Where do you feel unwell?"

"I'm much better now." When Han She saw Shu Ning, a faint smile appeared on his pale face, and he looked at her with a slight movement in his eyes.

He then tried to sit up, but Shu Ning pressed him down, saying, "Don't move, if you're injured, just lie down."

"Mm," Han She replied.

"Are you hungry?" Shu Ning asked.

Han She shook her head. "I've already eaten."

Han She moved further in and looked at her.

Shu Ning then lay down inside.

Beneath the animal skin blanket, his arm pressed across her waist, like a giant python imprisoning its prey.

After taking a nap, Shu Ning looked at the sunset outside and was about to get up.

"Don't go..." A hoarse voice came from behind. At this moment, the cold-blooded snake clan was hotter than a furnace.

His vertical pupils were dilated from weakness, but his fingertips still gripped the hem of her clothes tightly.

"Okay, I won't leave." Shu Ning lay back down and turned to look at him.

She brushed the soft, fine hairs from his cheek with her fingertips. "You've been lying here for so long, aren't you thirsty?"

Han She's long, narrow eyelashes fluttered, his beautiful eyes looking at her. His Adam's apple bobbed, and he squeezed out a single, hoarse word, "Mmm..."

Shu Ning smiled, sat up, and took out a bowl of water from her spatial storage. "Here you go."

Just then, Jin Tong's voice rang out from outside the door.

"Ningning, I've brought you the meat you wanted."

"Okay, wait a moment." Shu Ning took the bowl that Han She had finished drinking from, got him a fresh bowl of water, and then stood up.

When Shu Ning opened the door, she saw that Jin Tong, Mo Li, and Xiao Chong, the three beastmen in front of her, had all hunted a lot of beast meat for her.

"So many!" Shu Ning exclaimed in surprise. Seeing the bulging animal skin bags beside her, she asked in confusion, "What are these?"

Jin Tong opened the bag, revealing a lot of mushrooms and fruits. "Eat these slowly for now, and let us know if you need more."

"Mmm, enough to eat for a long time!" Shu Ning said happily, looking at the pile of food in front of her.

Then they got busy. Shu Ning and Xiao Chong washed the mushrooms and fruits, Mo Li gathered firewood to start a fire, and Jin Tong cut meat to make soup.

Shu Ning glanced at Xiao Chong as she washed.

I wonder how he would feel if he knew his mother was still alive.

"Ningning, just wash me. You sit over there and wait for me to finish so we can go back together," Xiao Chong said after noticing that she was washing slowly.

“Xiao Chong,” Shu Ning said.

"What's wrong?" Xiao Chong asked while washing.

After a moment of silence, Shu Ning decided to tell him about it, "I dreamt about your mother while I was sleeping just now."

At this moment, Xiao Chong paused in washing the mushrooms, a complex emotion flashing in his deep eyes before returning to brightness, and a smile appeared on his lips. "Oh? Is that so? What did she tell you?"

"She told me in a dream that she is now in a deep sleep..."

Shu Ning told Xiao Chong about his mother's experiences with the Eagle Clan.

Finally, he said, "Xiao Chong, that place is a cliff, it's very dangerous. Only Mo Li can fly there right now, let's ask him to come with us tomorrow."

After pondering for a moment, Xiao Chong said, "Okay."

After washing the mushrooms, Xiao Chong carried the animal skin bag and led Shu Ning back home.

On the way back, Shu Ning looked up at Xiao Chong and asked, "Xiao Chong, do you miss your mother?"

Xiao Chong did not answer her immediately, but looked into the distance, then looked down at her.

"When I was little, I would feel envious when I saw that other people had their own mothers, but I don't think that way anymore when I grow up, because the Holy Mother is very good to me and treats me like a mother."

“Brother Xiao Chong, your mother must love you very much, otherwise she wouldn’t have entrusted you to my mother to raise,” Shu Ning said.

"Mm," Xiao Chong replied.

They then returned to the entrance of Shu Ning Cave.

After the soup was ready, Shu Ning brought a bowl in for Han She, placed it on the stone table to the side, and helped him sit up.

Shu Ning blew on it to cool it down before handing it to him, saying, "Let us know when you're done drinking it; we'll be right outside."

"Mm," Han She replied.

Afterwards, Shu Ning went outside and chatted with them while they ate.

Shu Ning handed Mo Li a skewer of grilled meat, saying, "Eat more, Mo Li."

Mo Li looked at Shu Ning with a puzzled expression, his thin lips slightly raised, "You're being so proactive today, tell me, is there something you want from me?"

Shu Ning smiled at Mo Li, not expecting him to guess her thoughts so quickly. Just as she was about to speak, she heard Xiao Chong's voice.

“It’s me,” Xiao Chong said. “I discovered that my mother is still alive, but she is currently asleep in the Eagle Clan. I need your help with this.”

“No problem,” Mo Li replied without hesitation.

He had heard of the places where the Eagle Clan lived; they mostly nested on cliffs, places that were extremely dangerous and impossible for flightless orcs to reach.

“Okay, then I’ll leave it to you tomorrow,” Xiao Chong said.

"I'm going too!" Jin Tong exclaimed immediately, her eyes lighting up.

“Jin Tong, Mo Li’s dragon transformation isn’t fully mature yet. Too many people will be a burden for him,” Shu Ning said.

"Alright then..." Jin Tong's raised tail drooped down again.
