Chapter 67 Don't Look for Him

Chapter 67 Don't Look for Him

"Why did you look for him?" His voice was deep and steady, masking his inner disappointment.

"He left... no, what does that have to do with you?"

Shu Ning, who was behind him, was about to take out some herbs from her spatial storage for him.

He was concentrating on taking it out when he suddenly turned around the moment it was taken out.

After she found herbs and animal hides in her hand, she looked up and suddenly realized that he had turned around at some point.

Shu Ning paused for a moment, then pretended to be calm and continued to crush the herbs.

It was as if nothing had happened and he hadn't noticed anything.

The man was shocked to see the herbs appear out of thin air in her hand.

He suddenly grabbed her hand, looked incredulously at the herbs on the ground, then at her hand.

Could she really be the goddess she described?

Although he didn't know what a goddess was, he could roughly guess that she was similar to a beast god.

"You..." Shu Ning was grabbed by him, her hand was squeezed so hard it hurt.

Only after noticing the female's expression did he release her hand.

"You...are you really a goddess?" he asked doubtfully.

Shu Ning rubbed her wrist, which was sore from his grip, and said, "No, didn't I just tell you that I was just making that up?"

"Then what is this?" He pointed to the herbs and animal hides on the ground.

“This is my special ability,” she said, finding this excuse more convincing than that of a goddess.

Otherwise, if he really treats her like a goddess, he might become obsessed with her in the future.

Anyway, this beast world has many strange abilities. The Jiaolong clan can absorb the energy of the Xuanjing Stone, and the fox clan can release charm. It's not particularly strange that she made up one.

Hearing her words, the man looked at her curiously, "What kind of special ability is it?"

"Just think of it as me having an invisible space behind me, where I can put things in and take them out."

After finishing her sentence, Shu Ning continued arranging the herbs.

Hearing her explanation, the man seemed to understand. He looked behind her; it was empty, there was nothing there.

He looked down at her beautiful face again: fair skin, a cool expression, delicate features, and strands of hair falling as she lowered her head...

He seemed even more certain in his heart that she was the goddess she had described.

But the thought that she already had a beastly husband...

"Wait, you just said your beastly husband left you." He waited for her answer with a hint of expectation in his eyes.

"Hmm." Shu Ning crushed the herbs and continued to apply them to him.

Hearing her affirmative answer, a glint of light flashed in his eyes, and he was secretly delighted.

But the thought that the foolish man had abandoned her, leaving her, a social female, to search for him alone by climbing mountains and wading through rivers, made his eyes turn sinister for a moment, though he quickly recovered.

Hehe, then don't blame him.

"Don't look for him anymore," he said, looking at the female who was standing up after grinding the medicine.

"From now on, if you follow me, I will not only never abandon you, but I will also give you the best of everything." He lifted her chin with one hand, his fingertips slowly caressing her cheek, his words full of seduction.

Shu Ning felt him staring at her like that, and when she heard his words, she unconsciously tightened her grip on the herbs in her hand, and her breathing became a little rapid.

"What's between him and me is none of your business," she said calmly, then moved behind him to bandage his wounds.

Hearing her words, the man felt a pang of jealousy, but he pretended to be nonchalant and continued, "I won't easily let go of the person I've chosen."

Shu Ning frowned slightly, a fleeting, almost imperceptible expression flashing in her eyes, but she didn't respond to his words.

After bandaging him up, she looked around and pointed upstream, saying, "Let's move a little that way."

The man didn't understand, but he still led her forward.

"A little higher."

"Okay, this will do."

She looked around and said that they were quite a distance away from where they had been.

There are trees nearby.

Shu Ning stopped trying to hide it from him and took out tools and ingredients directly from her spatial storage, since they wouldn't be seeing each other again for a while anyway.

She first used a chainsaw to cut down some trees and store them in the space, then found some dry firewood in the nearby bushes.

Once prepared, light it easily with a lighter, then wash the marinated meat in the river to remove some of the salt, making it less salty, and finally skewer it and grill it over the fire.

The man watched as the female conjured up things he had never seen before out of thin air. He was surprised again, even though he had already accepted that she could produce things out of thin air.

When he saw her easily light the fire, his pupils dilated instantly as he stared at her in disbelief, before quickly regaining his composure.

This female really surprised him all the time.

He crouched down beside her, his gaze fixed on her. In the light of the flames and the glow of the setting sun, she seemed to be gilded, shimmering and sparkling.

He felt as if he could already see the goddess.

Shu Ning ignored the man's gaze beside her; all she wanted was to eat quickly and get some rest.

Then they sneak away in the middle of the night.

She handed him the grilled meat and said, "Eat up."

The man frowned as he looked at the sizzling, oily roasted meat in her hand. He took it, and although the aroma made him hungry, he didn't eat it right away.

Seeing that Shu Ning was also eating, he finally couldn't resist and started eating too.

The moment the roasted meat entered his mouth, his pupils dilated instantly. This was a taste he had never experienced before. The meat was even more fragrant after her processing, completely different from the raw meat he usually ate.

Shu Ning ate the grilled meat she had seasoned with salt and Sichuan peppercorns. The crispy exterior and tender interior of the meat, with its subtle saltiness and numbing Sichuan peppercorn flavor, made it even more delicious.

After finishing her meal, she quickly washed her face and prepared to find a flat spot to take some blankets from her spatial storage and kindly gave him one as well.

"Go to sleep," she said after spreading out the blankets.

Yan was surprised that she had even brought a blanket, and she brought one for him too.

I was immediately surprised and touched by her actions.

Looking at the sleeping female beside him, he felt an indescribable sense of bliss.

Although they weren't sleeping close together, her presence beside him made him feel more relaxed than ever before, and he drifted off to sleep as he thought about her...

In the middle of the night, Shu Ning opened her eyes and quietly used teleportation to move herself back to the place where she had first arrived at the river.

Even though she was already quite far away, she still dared not make any loud noises, as the Crimson Tiger's hearing was no joke.

She gently took out the branches and trees she had previously sawed, tore strips of animal hide, and tied them together side by side.

After some busy work, a simple raft was completed, and she picked out a handy stick to use as an oar.

Looking at the deep night, the pitch-black river, and the eerily quiet surroundings, Shu Ning felt a little scared, but she couldn't care less.

She didn't dare to delay, so she pushed the raft into the river and went straight up.

When she first got on, she wasn't quite used to being on the water and swayed slightly from side to side. But as the raft moved, she forced herself to stabilize herself, and the raft finally moved forward smoothly.

As she looked at herself about to enter the deep water, a sense of unknown fear suddenly overwhelmed her.

She tried to reassure herself that she had the ability to teleport and that she had already learned to swim.

Thinking of swimming reminded her of Mo Li, and a wave of bittersweetness washed over her.

And so, in the dead of night, by the river, alone, with a single log, a new journey began...
