Zhao Dayong's eyes darted around, his hands gripping the shoulder strap tightly. "Hehe, I didn't cut it. I was just helping out by delivering it. I'm heading back now!"
Before he could finish speaking, he ran off like the wind.
Zhao Honghui didn't call for a stop, since he was going to the grass-cutting area anyway.
Today, after returning from the commune, he originally intended to go directly to the foot of Daqingshan Mountain to find Xie Yuyao, since he could explain the situation to the brigade leader through Secretary Liu.
But as soon as they arrived at Qingshan Village, they were spotted by villagers harvesting soybeans in the fields. They swarmed around them, eager to find out what was going on in the commune, and he and Secretary Liu were instantly surrounded.
Upon learning that the commune leaders had agreed, everyone cheered until they were chased away by the brigade leader.
They returned to the fields and worked even harder, everyone hoping to finish harvesting the soybeans as soon as possible so they could have more time to make dried fruit.
The brigade leader told his wife, Aunt Tian, to call Li Weidong and Xie Yuyao to the brigade headquarters for a meeting immediately.
"I'm here!" Li Weidong, who was working in the distance, saw the commotion and walked over. "Xie Zhiqing said she didn't want to get involved in the follow-up matters, so there's no need to call her, right?"
Accountant Li immediately expressed her dissatisfaction: "Why? Is she still angry about last night?"
"Of course not, it's just that she's been working so hard these past few days and is a bit tired."
The brigade leader remembered seeing two female educated youths with injuries on their faces that morning. He figured they must have been making a scene all night, so he didn't say anything more and the five of them went to the meeting together.
In the meeting room of the brigade headquarters, after several discussions, the packaging, pricing, sales channels, and key personnel arrangements for the dried fruit were finally finalized.
Seeing that the dried fruit matter was almost settled, Party Secretary Liu dropped a bombshell, telling the group that the commune director supported the construction of a dried fruit factory.
The team leader wasn't as excited as Secretary Liu had been when he first heard the news. He said, "Even if Xie Wazi has the production method, where will the initial investment come from? Besides, winter is coming soon, and the heavy snow will block the roads, so nothing can be done. Opening a factory will have to wait until next year."
Party Secretary Liu hurriedly said, "The key lies with Xie Zhiqing. If she has the skills, we can start preparing. We don't need to build a factory at the beginning; we can just have someone work from home."
"I'm going to find Xie Zhiqing now," Zhao Honghui said, standing up.
Li Weidong also stood up, "I'll go."
Zhao Honghui: "Let's go together."
Upon hearing this, Li Weidong looked intently at Zhao Honghui, who raised his dark eyes and met his gaze directly.
For a moment, a meaning that only men could understand was revealed in their eyes.
The captain looked around, picked up his pipe and tapped it on the table. "I think it's almost noon, so let's adjourn the meeting. Li Weidong, after lunch, bring Xie Wazi over to discuss the factory construction."
"OK."
After the meeting, Li Weidong returned to the fields to inform the educated youth team about the commission situation for securing orders.
Zhao Honghui, however, remained focused on his goal and headed straight for the foot of the mountain, where he encountered Zhao Dayong.
After Zhao Dayong left, Xie Yuyao noticed that the children's baskets were all empty, so she asked, "Where did you all go playing this morning?"
"Sister Yuyao, we saw a wild rabbit, but we can't catch it no matter what we do."
"It made me fall several times, and my knees are sore."
"If only there were traps, the rabbits would fall into them and be unable to escape."
......
Xie Yuyao glanced at the little girl's knee after she fell, and seeing that there was no scrape, she pulled down her trouser leg. "Don't be discouraged, next time I'll take you to dig traps."
"Yay!" the children shouted excitedly, as if they had already caught their prey.
Xie Yuyao picked up a sickle and helped them cut grass. Listening to the children arguing about where to go and where to dig traps, she felt very relaxed and happy.
In the midst of her busyness, a pair of inappropriate men's black leather shoes caught her eye. She looked up and saw it was him!
Xie Yuyao stood up, and seeing the other person extend their hand, she said in a magnetic voice, "I'll cut it, give me the sickle."
She hesitated for a moment, then handed the sickle to the other person.
When the slender fingers and the broad palm touched unexpectedly, Zhao Honghui felt a shiver run down his spine, as if he had been electrocuted.
He quickly walked a few steps, squatted down, and deftly began cutting grass, the skin around his ears turning slightly red.
Zhao Chunling, who was cutting grass behind the big tree, heard a familiar voice, walked around the tree trunk, and her eyes widened instantly:
Her nephew, who was as cold as an iceberg, was actually squatting in the field cutting grass!
"Honghui? What are you doing here?!"
Zhao Honghui glanced at her. "I need to talk to Xie Zhiqing about something."
"What is it?" Zhao Chunling looked at him suspiciously.
"Why aren't you home yet, what's going on at the brigade headquarters?"
"I haven't finished cutting yet." Zhao Chunling was a little embarrassed, afraid of being lectured again, so she ran behind the tree. "I'm going to get back to work!"
Zhao Honghui frowned deeply. Thinking of a possibility, he suddenly turned around and glanced at Xie Yuyao, then looked around at the person beside her.
Only now did he notice that there were several piles of cut grass next to Xie Yuyao, and Xiao Ke from Widow Li's family was putting them into a small basket.
Where has the big bamboo basket gone?
Xie Yuyao, unaware of what was happening, looked puzzled in her eyes, which resembled Wang Quan's. "What are you looking for?"
"Where's your basket?" Zhao Honghui felt uneasy, even though he already knew the answer, he still asked.
Xie Yuyao's eyes flashed, "Someone helped me get down the mountain."
"It's Zhao Dayong!" Zhao Chunling, who had been listening intently behind the tree, poked her head out and said.
She mistakenly thought Zhao Honghui had cut grass but didn't have a basket to carry it, which is why she asked where the basket was. She's now confused about their relationship, but if Honghui knew that Xie Yuyao and Zhao Dayong were getting close, given his sense of justice, he would definitely try to persuade them to stop.
