Chapter Eight

Chapter Eight

She slowly leaned closer to examine it carefully. "Hmm...it seems like there are words on it. Was it natural? It's quite beautiful."

Sorry, she really doesn't recognize the characters; she's illiterate. Thank you.

However, as long as she didn't say anything, no one would know. Chika silently praised herself for her cleverness.

Listening to her perfectly steady heartbeat, Douma's lips curled into a smile. The more naive she was, the more he wanted to tease her. "Um, no, no, it's the day after tomorrow."

He freed one hand, his fingertip lightly touching the corner of his eye. "You want it? But there's no room right now. How about I give you a Lower Moon Two?"

As he spoke, his canine teeth gleamed, carrying a hint of danger. Yet, his eyes were as pure as a child's, a contrast that stirred a strange feeling within Qianxia.

"Lower Moon Two?" Then what lower moon is he?

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven?

Okay! I'll write this down and ask Sanemi when I get home.

Qianxia pursed her lips and shook her head repeatedly, "Forget it, it's easy to damage your eyes if you do things recklessly. Your parents are too carefree."

Even Machi, who's skilled at telekinesis, wouldn't dare to have surgery on her eyes. How can someone in this world actually have a number system like "one, two, three, four, five, six, seven"?

That's outrageous.

At this point, she did not realize that the "adult" was not an "adult" and was not the so-called guardian.

Her words startled Douma slightly, then he burst out laughing, "Hahaha, yeah, that's pretty much going too far."

Seeing him laugh, Qianxia breathed a sigh of relief. She took a few steps back and reached out her hand to him again, "Let's go, I'll take you away from here."

This time, Doma did not refuse and gently grasped her hand.

The icy temperature of her palm made Chika's heart tremble, but she was quickly distracted by other things.

As he stood up, Qianxia felt a sudden darkness before her eyes. The candlelight cast a long shadow behind the boy, and Qianxia was completely enveloped in his shadow.

Chinatsu instinctively exclaimed "Wow!" "You're as tall as Hisoka, how tall are you?"

She hadn't noticed when the boy was sitting, but now that he stood up, she realized that he was actually two whole heads taller than her.

"Hmm... I don't know." Douma tapped his chin lightly with his iron fan. "But I can compete with everyone next time."

They know absolutely nothing when asked!

Qianxia nodded helplessly, "Okay, that's fine. You have long legs, so keeping up with me shouldn't be a problem."

Doma grunted, hiding his face behind the open iron fan, a slight smile playing on his lips.

The show is about to begin!

The stench of blood entered her nasal cavity, and Chika's ears twitched slightly as she quickly caught the sticky swallowing sounds coming from the shadows.

"An evil spirit is coming."

No sooner had the words left his mouth than the roof suddenly exploded, and amidst wisps of smoke and dust, a monstrous demon with a gaping maw and drool dripping from its mouth descended from the sky.

"Stay here and don't move. By the way, could you lend me your clothes for a moment? Thanks."

She quickly gave instructions, and without caring whether Doma wanted to or not, she tiptoed and went to pull at his coat.

Doma did not resist; on the contrary, he was quite happy to cooperate and draped his outer robe over her.

The moment the coat was removed from Douma, it suddenly unleashed a strong aura of a superior demon, leaving Chinatsu's low-level demon completely dumbfounded.

Chika pulled her slightly oversized outer robe to the side and drew a dagger from her waist.

Ugh! This stench was so strong it cleared up her slightly stuffy nose.

Qianxia snorted coldly, and her Nen energy suddenly erupted, with blue arcs of electricity exploding all around like a spider web.

She touched the ground with her toes, and the blade in her hand drew a crescent-shaped arc.

The moment the head flew up, the rotting blood congealed into eerie blood coral in mid-air, scattering on one side of the door, reflecting an eerie rainbow in the moonlight.

The demon's head rolled to the ground, and as it dissipated, a hint of confusion remained in its eyes.

He died without ever understanding what had happened, why this human suddenly exuded the aura of an Upper Moon demon.

He dared not move!

Doma looked down at him, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.

The sandalwood beads emitted a faint corroding sound, scorching the pale skin until wisps of blue smoke appeared.

He had thought that his aura would be isolated, making him undetectable to humans.

But to my surprise, it couldn't even distinguish ghosts.

"This is really..." Douma chuckled softly, his colorful, glassy pupils slightly contracting.

What a surprise!

The demon's head rolled to the ground, and Chika's first thought was that she had to get out of there as soon as possible. She turned her head and was met with a stunned, handsome face.

"Hurry up and go!" Qianxia shouted, reaching out to grab his hand.

Doma instinctively hid his hand, which was riddled with holes. He looked at the figure that had rushed towards him like a whirlwind and tilted his head with interest. "You go first, I'll just follow you."

"You! Tsk! I'm talking to you like that."

Chika shook off the blood-stained blade and glanced at the boy's muscular arms.

The bulging muscles and delicate face created an eerie contrast, and his tall stature and the act of trying to hide behind her were also unexpected.

She clicked her tongue; this person was truly no match for Sanemi.

Being good-looking is of no use whatsoever.

Commonly known as, "a complete idiot".

"Keep up." Qianxia sighed, turned around and left.

To be honest, she missed Sanemi a little.

Admiring strength is a habit ingrained in the bones of the people of Meteor Street.

Their actions came too late; as they turned a corner, they bumped into a group of humans carrying lanterns.

Doma retreated and hid in the shadows around the corner, leaving his followers to stare intently at Chinatsu.

"The sacrificial offering has escaped!"

The man in the lead had a ferocious expression, and the lantern in his hand shook violently, revealing a gleaming blade with a "whoosh".

"Kill her! Use her blood as a sacrifice to the God of Bliss!"

The sound echoed in the narrow passageway. Doma leaned against the long pillar, his lips curving into a wider smile.

If it were the Demon Slayer Corps swordsmen, they would probably do everything they could to avoid harming her. He was curious how this girl, who wasn't a Demon Slayer Corps member, would handle this hunt.

The thought had barely formed when the group pounced on her, and Qianxia's figure vanished from the spot.

The clouds suddenly dispersed, moonlight poured down like a waterfall, and blood splattered like ink, blooming into bewitching, bright red spider lilies on the bluestone slabs.

The girl's figure appeared and disappeared in the moonlight, and the short dagger reflected a chilling light that was hard to look away from.

Doma's pupils constricted slightly, and his Adam's apple bobbed.

At that moment, he could once again clearly hear the heartbeat of his heart, which had been silent for a hundred years.

What...wonderful art...

"Chinatsu!"

A rough shout came from not far away, carrying the familiar scent of breathing techniques.

Chika stumbled as she stepped on the slippery blood, her sword-wielding posture instantly becoming disheveled.

With a yell, she finished off the last person and turned to charge at Doma.

She grabbed him, turned around, and ran, shoving him back into the original room.

"You stay here quietly. I'll get someone to rescue you later. Remember, you've never seen me before, nor have you ever seen me kill ghosts or people, understand? Keep it a secret for me."

Before Douma could even react, the door was slammed shut.

Sanemi's roar grew louder as it approached, sending chills down Chinatsu's spine. Of all times, it had to appear just when she was caught up in the killing frenzy.

She took off her blood-stained white outer robe, wiped herself with the clean inside, and then ran back towards her previous cell.

After turning two corners, he came face to face with Sanemi, who was grabbing one of his ears and scolding him. Veins bulged on his forehead, and his voice burst with thunderous rage.

"Are you stupid? You joined the Demon Slayer Corps? You've learned to lie after all this time? Didn't your trainer teach you to see yourself clearly?"

The owner of the ears was the pig-headed boy he had seen in the prison cell, and he was now stubbornly arguing his case.

“I have actually seen people cut off the heads of demons without using breathing techniques, brother. Believe me, I’m not lying to you.”

Hearing this, Qianxia felt a tightness in her chest and abruptly stopped in her tracks.

What is the name of the pig-headed man, Sanemi?

elder brother?

No wonder she felt that the pig-headed boy looked somewhat familiar; it turned out he was Sanemi's younger brother!

The moment their eyes met, the air seemed to freeze. Compared to Sanemi's furrowed brows, Genya's eyes lit up as if he had discovered a new continent.

He pointed directly at Qianxia: "Brother, she is..."

Chika's heart tightened, and cold sweat broke out on her back. If Sanemi knew that she had been pretending to be weak all along, he would probably chase her down the street with his Nichirin Blade.

In a flash, she had a brilliant idea.

"Sanemi! Brother! Brother!!"

Chika let out a loud "Awooo," a sharp, dry howl erupting from her throat.

The crisp sound of "bang" came from a slightly bent knee hitting Xuanmi's jaw. Before Xuanmi could even groan, Xuanmi rolled his eyes and fell to the ground.

With a crisp "thud," came the sound of Chika crashing into Sanemi's arms like a little cannonball, clinging to him with her hands and feet.

Chika wrapped her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist, clinging to him like a koala.

She buried her face in his neck, her sobbing accusation exploding out loud, "Awooo!! Why did you take so long to come! You scared me to death! That evil ghost, he... he carried me on his shoulder and kept hitting my head with his fists! My forehead is all bruised! And that ghost, he stinks like a salted fish that's been rotting for three months, it's so disgusting, I'm covered in stench now, it stinks everywhere..."

"Where have you been? Why are you so late? Is my hair not shiny enough, or did you not take out enough cotton...? Say something! Why won't you say anything! Are you admitting your incompetence?!"

"Practice makes perfect! You know that...?"

Sanemi, feeling utterly incompetent and weak, felt like dying. Her head was buzzing, and the veins on her temples throbbed with each startled sound.

What was he doing? Why didn't he dodge?

I hesitated for just one second, and how did things turn out like this?

How did he suddenly become incompetent and useless? Are there really people in the world who would turn around and blame others like that? Where did he come from?

"And then there are those who say they want to sacrifice me to some god, to make my blood splatter everywhere, to hang my head on the wall to dry in the wind! To pull out my fingernails, to peel off my skin and make a beauty drum..."

Douma, who was squatting on the roof, propped his head up and almost burst out laughing. This guy really knew how to mess with people. Drying the wall? A beauty drum?

It's unbelievable that she could make this up.

"You! Shut up!" Sanemi couldn't take it anymore; his already throbbing head was buzzing even more.

He grabbed her by the collar and said, "Get down!"

"No!" Chika yelled, twisting her arms behind his neck like a pretzel and wrapping her legs tightly around his waist. "I'm scared!"

"You really are something!" Sanemi gritted his teeth in anger. He had never seen such a shameless person. "I have important business to attend to. The ghostly aura here is overwhelming. There must be a Crescent Moon Demon here. I need to find him and kill him."

Chika let out a long "Oh," and said, "Go ahead~ I didn't lock your legs, just walk forward as fast as you want."

"How am I supposed to walk with you hanging on me?! Are you out of your mind? Get down!"

"I don't!"

"Get down!"

"don't want!"

When Shinobu Kocho, Obanai Iguro, and Giyu Tomioka arrived, they were greeted by this absurd scene.

Sanemi stood with his legs slightly apart, one hand gripping his Nichirin Blade tightly, the other futilely pushing against the humanoid pendant in his arms.

The "human-shaped pendant" remained motionless, like a piece of chewing gum that couldn't be shaken off. Xuanmi lay sprawled to one side, his eyes rolled back, unconscious.

"Sanemi Mama~" Obanai Iguro couldn't help but tease, his voice filled with undisguised laughter.

Shinobu Kocho and Giyu Tomioka glanced at each other simultaneously, the three of them looking at each other in bewilderment, a subtle awkwardness filling the air.

On the rooftop, Douma rested his chin on his hand, watching the scene with great interest. Three Pillar-level swordsmen gathered together; tonight was truly extraordinary. He sighed softly, his gaze lingering on Chinatsu.

What an interesting little thing. In her eyes, there seems to be no difference between humans and demons. Doma's slender fingers gently tapped the fan ribs, a hint of regret flashing in his eyes. He also longed to be held so tightly; if it were him, he would tenderly meld her into his very bones, never to be separated again.

However... Douma narrowed his eyes, a playful smile curving his lips.

However, these swordsmen probably haven't seen the little one kill anyone yet. Judging from her appearance, she seems to be consciously hiding herself.

That's interesting. How can you let yourself see such a beautiful scene all by yourself?

He pondered for a moment, focusing on the established plan.

"Alright, alright, let's do it this way. Little one, I'll let you off the hook for today~"

As the night breeze swept by, the figure in red vanished like smoke.

As if sensing something, Chika suddenly looked up at the roof.

Red bricks and tiles, a silver moon, only fallen leaves lingering.

"What is it now?" Sanemi followed her gaze but didn't see anything.

"It's nothing!!" Chinatsu let out a soft "woof" and buried her face even deeper into Sanemi's neck, "Sanemi Mama~"

".......roll!!!!"

......
