Chapter Eleven

Chapter Eleven

Chinatsu didn't know whether Sanemi was a good child or not.

But Genya is definitely a good kid.

Bad kids don't come home and start working before they've even had a chance to sit down.

For several days in a row, I did laundry, cooked, and cleaned the house, keeping it spotless inside and out.

And what is Chinatsu doing?

She was standing with her arms crossed, munching on an apple, watching Xuan Mi run around inside and outside, directing the battle as she went.

"Oh yes, yes, over there."

"Oh right, right, over here."

"Ah, yes, yes, that's exactly what I mean."

Xuan Mi: "..."

He was a little confused about whose house this was.

"Alright, you go ahead and do your own thing. I'm going to check on your brother." After letting out a small burp and giving Xuanmi her instructions, she patted her bottom and prepared to slip away.

She was going to check what Shimi, who had been missing for days, was doing. Normally, if she were tormenting Genya like this, he would have already smacked her with a stick.

Seeing that she was really about to leave, Xuanmi subconsciously grabbed her sleeve, looked left and right, and after confirming that no one was around, his eyes pleaded.

Chika stared at Genya, and then...

"Snap! Snap!"

She grabbed the apple and devoured it, leaving not even the core, chewing and swallowing it whole.

"I'm done eating, that's all."

Xuan Mi: "..."

Fearing he wouldn't believe her, Chika opened her mouth and stuck out her tongue, "Ah—whoa~ look, it's gone."

“I didn’t mean to take the apple from you,” Genmi said, his expression indescribable. “I don’t like apples either.”

Chika blinked. "Oh, I see. Why didn't you say so earlier?"

She pouted and spat out a few seeds.

Genmi said helplessly, "You didn't even ask."

He froze after saying that, "..."

They were misled.

"Chika!" he tried to steer the conversation back on track. "When are you going to teach me that? We've been back for several days now."

He frowned, looking bewildered. "All you ever do is make me clean. Does that help with your studies?"

“It works! How could it not work?” Qianxia scratched her chin, looking certain. “Because that’s how I got through it.”

Then she began, spouting nonsense with a straight face, “Look, mopping the floor requires the use of core strength and the power of pushing off with your toes.”

She stood on tiptoe, gesturing for Xuanmi to look at her feet, and bounced twice, saying, "This will make you run faster."

"Sweeping can train your arm strength; you need to use even force to sweep clean. Cooking can improve your knife skills and..."

I can't come up with anything else.

"Anyway, cleaning is a great form of exercise~" Qianxia smiled. "Listen to me~ I'll teach you after you've built a solid foundation."

Xuanmi stood there dumbfounded, holding the broom. "So that's how it is."

"Oh, I see."

The sudden sound made Qianxia jump.

She looked up.

Unbeknownst to them, Sanemi was sitting on the roof, propped up on her knees and looking down at them. Obanai Iguro, in the same position beside her, tsk tsk tsk~ The child who lies will be eaten by the snake.

Qianxia turned to look at Xuanmi, "When did they get up there?"

She didn't feel anything at all, what's going on?

Xuanmi gripped the broom tightly, looking nervous. "You said cleaning is a good way to get exercise."

Chinatsu, "..."

She felt nothing at all. Was she truly too lax in her cultivation? Or were these two just too strong?

"Thump—"

A small pebble fell and hit Chika squarely on the head.

"What are you doing!" She covered her head, looking angrily at the culprit, Sanemi. "Don't hit my head with a rock."

“Your brain is lazy and stupid. If you don’t get some practice, you’ll become a wooden fish,” Sanemi sneered. “Since you say that cleaning is good for exercise, you’ll be in charge of cleaning the house starting today.”

"I don't need to!" Qianxia refused, tilting her head back. "I don't need to exercise, I'm still a child!"

Sanemi raised his hand and threw another stone. "If you're not going to train, then get out of here and go to the Butterfly Mansion!"

Chinatsu twisted her waist to dodge: "..."

The world is tough, and people's hearts are no longer what they used to be!

"I have a mission that requires me to go on a long trip. The Serpent Pillar will look after you during this time," Sanemi instructed the two. "Got it?"

Chika's eyes lit up suddenly, sparkling, "Yay! Yay! Yay!"

The first day Sanemi wasn't home! Went shopping.

The second day Sanemi wasn't home! Went to eat ramen.

It's the third day since Sanemi left home! I went to the night market.

Yay!

In stark contrast to the jubilant Chika, Genya hung his head, his fists clenched until they turned white, and his teeth grinding together.

He also longed to go on the mission, but the gap in their abilities seemed like an insurmountable chasm.

Sanemi took in the starkly different reactions of the two men and snorted coldly, "What are you all standing there for? Go pack your bags right now!"

"Huh?" Qianxia looked up suddenly, her face full of surprise.

Xuanmi's eyes lit up instantly, and he couldn't wait to straighten his back.

No... do you want them to go on the mission together?

What about her shopping plans?

"Oh dear!" Chika suddenly collapsed to the ground, her face half-covered by her sleeve. "I...I was injured a few days ago, I'm afraid..."

"Then let's go to the Butterfly House."

"No need, I'll rest at home for a few days..."

"We can only go to the Butterfly House."

"I have trouble sleeping in unfamiliar beds..."

"Move the bed to the Butterfly House."

"You're ruthless!" Chika gritted her teeth, jumped up, and pulled Genmi towards the door. "Get ready! Let's go now!"

The room was filled with a cacophony of clanging and banging, clearly indicating someone's anger.

Koba Iguro glanced at Sanemi with her inner eye, "Why does she hate the Butterfly Mansion?"

Sanemi casually tossed pebbles aside. "She doesn't dislike the Butterfly Mansion. She just doesn't want to go there and be lazy."

It's so nice here; no one cares about your eating, drinking, sleeping, or using the toilet. Butterfly Mansion doesn't offer such a good deal.

A short while later, Genya, carrying large and small bags, and Chinatsu, empty-handed, emerged.

"Let's go! Let's save the world! Let's destroy all the evil spirits!" Qianxia raised her fist, her face full of righteous indignation.

Sanemi raised his hand and delivered a sharp rap on the head.

"Ouch—that hurts! Don't hit my head!"
