Chapter Fifteen: Hiding
Within two minutes, the young beasts had prepared all their belongings.
Hicks took out a black trench coat in a sealed bag. It was the coat he had used to wrap the Fire Seed cub yesterday, and it still smelled of her Fire Seed and the residual scent of the culture fluid.
Seeing everyone's tense expressions, Anno knew that something urgent must have happened.
From the petri dish factory to the watchtower, she observed that the surrounding environment was not much better than in the post-apocalyptic world she had experienced in the past.
The technology was more advanced, but the environment was just as harsh. The human traffickers she encountered in the petri dish factory and Huo Yin's experience also made her realize that the world she was reborn into was still bleak.
Hicks squatted down in front of Anno, patted her head, put her favorite transforming ball into her hand, and said gently, "Little one, later Brother Apa will take you and Tuka and the others out to play. Apa will turn into a big dog to play with you. After playing for a while, many uncles and aunts will come to pick you up to go to your new home. I have some things to do. After I finish, I will go to see you."
Anno knew it wasn't a trip, but seeing Hicks's gentle coaxing, she nodded.
Standing beside her, Huo Yin took her hand. He had already sensed the presence of people nearby and knew that danger was approaching. He would protect the little one and not let anyone hurt her.
Hicks activated the protective device worn by Anno, which formed a protective force field around her. This device, given to her by her mother, was the best protective device the military had ever provided, capable of protecting her from the harsh environment and external attacks.
After checking the cubs again, Hicks opened the door and jumped into the snowstorm. He instantly transformed into a huge gray wolf upon landing, a trench coat with the scent of fire lingering in his mouth. He turned to look at Anno and the others.
A blizzard was raging outside. Although Anuo was protected by protective gear and didn't feel cold, she could feel how strong the wind was. The gale almost knocked her to the ground. Huo Yin held her hand tightly and placed his other hand behind her back to help her stand up.
She watched as Apa transformed into a beautiful white dog, lay down in front of her, and gestured for her to sit on his back.
Mike came over, picked her up, and put her on Apa's back. Then he put Huo Yin on the back as well, and then they all sat down together.
Mike wanted to follow the cub to protect her, but his beast form was a polar bear and he wasn't good at running, so he couldn't keep up with their speed. Huo Yin was also just a half-beast hybrid and couldn't fully transform into beast form.
Apa saw that they were seated, got up and ran forward, jumping off the edge of the mountainside. The other beast cubs also transformed into their beast forms and followed him down, traveling along the path at the bottom of the valley.
Huo Yin put his arm around Anuo and whispered in her ear, "Don't be afraid, it's safe."
Anno gently squeezed Huo Yin's hand to show that she wasn't afraid; she had jumped from even greater heights before.
Hicks watched them all leave before running off in the opposite direction.
Lu Si'en and the others lingered near the watchtower for a while, still searching for traces of the fire.
Although they were only a few hundred meters away from the watchtower, Mike and his men had set up many obstacles and projectors to conceal their presence in the vicinity, and they circled around the area for quite a while.
Lu Si'en sensed the faint energy fluctuations of the fire seed as he passed over the obstacles, only to be stopped by a pile of ruins.
He looked at the ruins in front of him, sneered inwardly, and walked straight through them.
The projector trick won't fool him.
With so many projectors around here, it seems there's a secret base they don't want anyone to discover.
When he looked through the projector and saw the watchtower below the hillside, he knew who was hiding there.
Casa has many people from the Federal Security Department, but Casa is now the territory of various gangs, and they never dare to make any rash moves.
It turns out that the security department had hidden the Fire Seedlings.
As Lu Si'en was heading towards the watchtower, he smelled the scent of the fire that made his blood boil, the scent drifting away in the opposite direction from him.
They ran away?
The group of beastmen subordinates behind him also smelled the strong scent of fire and became restless, wanting to chase after him.
Lu Si'en bared his teeth and growled at them, and they immediately lowered their heads and backed away.
As the scent receded into the distance, Lu Sien glanced at the watchtower below. He ordered his deputy, Dick, to stay behind with a few men to scout the area, while he led a group of men to pursue them.
Besides these people, Lu Sien has already notified the Black Thorn organization that the Fire Seed Cub is near his current location, and no matter where they run with the Fire Seed Cub, they will be intercepted by their people.
Lu Si'en smelled the scent of fire wafting through the snow and sped forward, his figure moving so fast that only a blur could be seen.
Anno and his group were making their way through the valley to a backup hideout for Mike and his crew, where they would wait for the Federation to arrive.
At the same time, Mike sent a red signal to Hicks' mother, Commander Lockin, indicating that the Spark's situation was not good.
Outer space.
Lokin stood in front of the control panel, staring coldly at the projection in front of him.
The projection was a holographic map of the area where Anno and his group were located, with a red dot moving through the valley.
That was the signal Max had installed on the Fireseed Cub's quantum computer, allowing rescuers to pinpoint her location precisely.
Looking at the flashing red dot, Lokin and his entourage all wore solemn expressions.
Casa was originally in a gray area, with a chaotic and complicated situation. The fact that the Fire Seed Cub was born in such a place made them feel uneasy from the moment they set off to rescue it.
The flashing red dot in front of them made their hearts leap into their throats.
Logan felt they couldn't afford to waste any more time and said to his adjutant, "Activate the warp shuttle, I'll go first."
