Chapter Sixteen: Intercepted
In the wind and snow, a figure walked through the ruins of East Valley. The protective gear on his body kept flashing. Seeing this, he raised his bloodied wrist and pressed it a few times. The field light of the protective gear flashed a few times and then went out with a "poof".
Barzel irritably ripped off the damaged protective gear and threw it away. He tugged at the strap of his backpack and looked ahead through the wind and snow. With this "golden sand," there would be enough seeds for two or three months.
He has already acquired a small spaceship, but he still needs some money. These three months should be enough for him to save up that money, and he will also have time to prepare some supplies for the seedlings.
Once everything is ready, he can remove her from the petri dish.
Having stayed inside for so long, she must really want to see the outside world.
Thinking of this, Bazel slightly tugged at the corner of his injured mouth, and quickened his pace forward against the wind and snow. He had fought several matches in the underground arena and was seriously injured, but the thought of leaving this place with Seed made him feel that no matter how badly he was injured, it was all worth it.
As he passed through the wasteland, some distance from the petri dish factory, Bazel looked at the unobstructed entrance to the wasteland and his pupils contracted. He ran forward and stopped in front of a signal pole.
The signal pole was already damaged, but he repaired and reinforced it, connecting the projector and signal jammer together to prevent anyone passing by from discovering the petri dish factory. But now the signal pole is broken.
The weather has been too cold these past few days, and the signal poles have frozen solid. Having stood in the abandoned area for so many years, the signal poles were already on the verge of collapse. After being frozen brittle, they were easily broken by a strong wind.
Bazel had hoped to return before the blizzard hit, but he was two days late.
Upon seeing the signal pole broken, he sprinted toward the petri dish factory. When he saw the broken petri dish and the culture liquid spilled all over the ground, his eyes instantly turned into vertical pupils!
Who is it?!
Who stole his seeds?!
The seed is so small that even if the container breaks on its own, it's impossible for it to leave the factory by itself.
Bazel's hand, resting on the jar, trembled slightly. His seeds, those were his seeds!
Suddenly, Bazel's gaze fell on the control panel in front of the tank. He saw the information flashing on the panel, the flickering flame, and the successful teleportation indicator. It was the Federation.
Bazel knew she was a spark when the seed was forming, but whether the seed grew into a spark or a beast, it would belong to him. He would do everything in his power to care for the seed and would never hand her over to anyone else.
Bazel clenched his fist, took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and mobilized the energy in his body to sense the energy of the fire.
For the past three years, he has often spent time with the Fire Seed. The Fire Seed's energy would appear from time to time, unconsciously communicating and exchanging with his energy, making him feel her energy very strongly.
Upon sensing a faint spark of energy, Bazel transformed into a gigantic beast resembling both a cat and a leopard, and rushed rapidly toward the direction of the sensed energy.
Judging from the energy sensed, the spark is still on Casa Star, which is some distance away, but not too far.
In the valley, Apa and the others ran forward quickly without stopping for a moment. Anno noticed that the road became narrower as they went further, and the wind and snow lessened considerably.
On either side of them were high mountains, and because the road was too narrow, the mountains blocked the light, making it appear somewhat dark.
She looked back and saw the young beasts following them in an orderly fashion. Tuka ran to the very back. She was a black fox with only one tail and a tuft of white fur on her forehead, making her very conspicuous in the icy snow.
After running for another ten minutes or so, Anno and the others emerged from the valley into a vast, snowy wasteland. Their view suddenly opened up, and not far ahead was a ruined area, which was the backup hiding place that Apa was going to take them to.
Apa sped up and headed towards the ruins.
Suddenly, his pupils contracted and he stopped abruptly, crouching slightly as he let out a low, warning growl towards the front.
Mike immediately jumped off Apa's back, transforming into a giant polar bear to block their way. The beast cubs also surrounded Anno, warily watching their surroundings.
Huo Yin's eyes turned into vertical pupils, and the hands around Anuo's waist tightened slightly.
Anno saw several dark figures appear ahead. As these figures approached, Anno realized that they were huge wild beasts. Some she could recognize; they resembled dogs, but there were subtle differences. Others looked like tigers and leopards, all staring at them with fierce eyes.
McApa recognized the beasts as Blackthorn's.
"It really is the spark."
Anno looked toward the speaker; a man was sitting on a large dog, looking at her with a glint in his eye.
This man is one of the leaders of the Blackthorn organization, named Isaac.
Isaac leaned forward slightly and took a deep breath. "What an exciting smell."
As soon as he finished speaking, Apa and the others bristled, bared their teeth and growled at them, ready to face their attack at any moment.
Isaac looked at them with disdain, chin raised, not taking the two adult beastmen and the group of cubs seriously.
"This is intriguing. How did you come to have fire?"
Isaac looked puzzled. The group in front of him was really strange. When he received Lu Sien's message, he thought it was a trap set by their enemy. Even if the message was true, the Fire Seed would at least be surrounded by beasts or alien species with high genetic levels.
But there were only two beasts that looked reasonably strong, leading a group of cubs.
"Hand over the fire obediently, and I'll spare your lives since I'm in a good mood today."
Apa barked at Isaac, his voice fierce and warning.
Even if he dies here, he will not let these people take the cub away!
Mike and Tuka took a step forward, emitting aggressive growls that indicated they would attack if they took another step.
"Um?"
Isaac narrowed his eyes slightly as he looked at the black fox in front of him. "It's you, little fox."
This little fox is one of the fighting beasts in their Black Thorn Hands. Although its body size is a little smaller than many beasts of the same age, its attacks are fierce and ruthless. It can even win matches against adult beasts, and its record is quite good.
Two months ago, she killed two of his subordinates and escaped from the underground arena, but she never expected to see him here.
Isaac raised his hand at them. "Perfect, let's take these little brats back with us."
