Chapter 219: Deep Sea
Inside the wooden cabin, Anno sat at the table eating seafood.
Mingxi sat to the side, opening the seashell for her, using her sharp fingernails to cut open the fish's belly, and slicing it into sashimi.
Anuo has never been picky about food. Although it was raw, Mingxi had specially chosen seafood that could be eaten raw. On a small stove next to them, a pot of seafood soup was simmering.
Several bottles of seafood dipping sauce were still open on the table. Mingxi had just secretly taken them from the coastal shop through the spatial portal, leaving behind a few round pearls.
Judging by the quality of those pearls, they're probably enough to buy that shop.
Anuo saw the brand-new dipping sauce bottle on the table and knew that he had gone out to get it. He didn't hide anything and told her directly.
Anno watched as the handsome merman traded precious pearls for just a few bottles of dipping sauce, and her heart began to soften again.
The poor mermaid had never interacted with anyone since birth.
"Don't you live with your own kind?" she asked him, sucking on a piece of tender clam meat.
Mingxi pried open a seashell and placed it in front of her, then shook her head. "I can't be with them."
"Why?" Anuo poured some soy sauce and wasabi on the clam meat and continued to slurp it up. The seafood that had just been caught from the sea was different; it was so delicious.
"As far back as I can remember, I've had one goal: to find something."
Mingxi stared at her and said, "For decades, I didn't know what I was looking for, but now I know what I'm looking for."
Anuo paused in her eating, turned to look into Mingxi's gentle golden eyes, and her heart softened again.
What Caesar's incarnations experienced, once their consciousness returned to the main body, was equivalent to the main body also experiencing it once, because essentially, consciousness is Caesar, only the incarnations had no memory of it.
Each of his clones was so lonely, repeatedly searching for her traces in fixed locations within the consciousness implanted by Caesar.
From the time Mingxi could remember, she had been searching for her in every location in the Tianhe Star Sea.
He even broke through the limitations of consciousness and went to land.
In this timeline, Caesar clearly sensed her core aura, which is why his clones are even more powerful, and some even possess his spatial abilities.
"It's a deal. After we finish this meal, you'll take me off the island."
Anno snapped out of her thoughts and continued eating.
There is another version of her in this timeline. Given the high degree of similarity between this timeline and her own, she will appear before the Zerg in a similar manner decades from now.
In this timeline, Caesar and all the Zerg kin will wait for their little overlords, while she will return to her own timeline.
In this timeline, there will be an Anunu who feels sorry for Caesar and returns to her parents' embrace.
In her own time and space, there is only Anunu, and her Zerg family and friends are all waiting for her.
The location of this island cannot be determined by the quantum computer, as its magnetic field is blocked. However, Mingxi can open a spatial portal. She asked him to take her out, but he refused.
I had to coax him a lot before he finally said he would take her away after she finished eating.
Once they get out of this shielded area, they'll be able to contact Caesar and the others.
She didn't mean to run away from Mingxi; if she did, and Mingxi suddenly fell asleep and her consciousness returned to her body, that would be troublesome.
She had to keep an eye on him, but she needed to stay in touch with Caesar and the others so they wouldn't worry.
When my mother and the others arrive, we can just leave.
Seeing that she couldn't eat anymore, Mingxi finished the rest of the seafood.
"Let's go, let's open the portal and leave."
Anno waited for him to finish eating, then pulled him up and asked him to open the spatial portal.
Mingxi looked at her for a while, then took her outside.
At this moment, the sky darkened, thick clouds covered the sky, and lightning flashed within the clouds, signaling an impending downpour.
Outside the wooden house, there were many golden jellyfish. Mingxi grabbed one at random and put it on her head.
Anno: Huh? Why are you wearing a golden jellyfish mask?
As Anuo was wondering, Mingxi hugged her waist, opened the spatial door, and led her inside.
After two seconds of darkness, Anno's vision cleared.
She was surrounded by countless golden jellyfish and various kinds of fish. She finally understood why Mingxi had put the golden jellyfish on her; it was because it had brought her into the sea.
She sighed inwardly and removed the jellyfish from her head.
Mingxi's expression changed, and she wanted to stop him. She grabbed his hand, smiled, and shook her head at him.
Her true form is the Sparkling, which is considered a relatively "weak" branch among the Zerg, but that is only in terms of strength. Like the Golden Sand Jellyfish, the Sparkling can survive both on land and in water.
However, she has never reverted to her original form, so she is not quite used to it yet.
Mingxi saw that her lower body had transformed into a semi-transparent, gauze-like form, somewhat resembling a fish tail. Several gauze-like fin membranes swayed on either side, dotted with starlight and shimmering with a faint glow.
Her hands also became transparent, their shape unchanged, but beautiful patterns appeared on them, still gleaming with a white light.
Mingxi placed her hand on her face, looking at her with sparkling eyes, "So beautiful."
When he brought her to the cabin, he removed her shapeshifter, but he didn't know she had this form.
He knew very little about life forms other than those from Tianhe Star, but he also knew that she was not a Tianhe Star creature, which he could sense from her energy aura.
But so what? In his entire life, she was his only goal; nothing else mattered.
Anno made a few gestures to him, asking where he was taking her.
Mermaids can talk underwater, but she can't.
However, mermaids make sounds completely differently in the water than on land. On land, they use the same language system as everyone else, but in the water, they have a unique way of making sounds, which is as melodious as singing.
Mingxi ran her fingers through her hair. "I've found you, so I'm going to hide you away."
Anno's light band immediately wrapped around his wrist, using the light band to convey his consciousness: "Don't take me to places where the signal is blocked."
Mingxi didn't expect that she wouldn't resist, but would just make such a request.
He couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement, "In the deep sea, you can't receive signals from the land."
Anno: "That's different. The island you live on has a different energy field, and you can sense the difference."
Mingxi could indeed sense the difference. He said, "The place I took you to didn't have that kind of magnetic field."
In the sea area of Tianhe Star, there are many places with that strange magnetic field. He lives there only because he doesn't want to be disturbed by the outside world; it's just a temporary residence.
Anno had already connected to the consciousness network. As soon as she connected, she quickly calmed Caesar and the others down and told them to be patient.
Mingxi's abilities are not weak. Given Caesar's stubborn personality, it would be difficult to deal with him in a real fight. Most importantly, he also has spatial abilities.
Now we just need to wait for my mother to come; she and he can stay together for a couple of days.
She issued the order directly through the consciousness network, and Caesar and the others had no choice but to comply.
They also knew that the clone had spatial abilities and could take the prince away at any time, so it was better to let the prince stay with him for the time being. After all, it was just a clone of Caesar and would not cause any harm to the prince.
Anno just wants her mother to come over soon; she doesn't know if the mermaid's physique can hold up for two days without sleep.
He definitely didn't sleep yesterday, otherwise Caesar from this timeline would have already arrived.
Anno watched as he swam forward with her and asked, "How often do you usually sleep?"
Mingxi said, "Twenty hours of activity, four hours of sleep."
Anno: Very good, you have a strong physique, but it won't last two days.
Anno then asked, "What's the longest you can stay awake?"
Mingxi: "The longest I've gone without sleep is three days, and it should last even longer."
Caesar's consciousness wasn't always with him, but at this time, Caesar would still give his clone some autonomy.
"Why do you ask this?" Mingxi suddenly stopped and looked down at her, asking, "Are you worried about my health? I'm very strong; I can challenge the Mermaid King. You don't need to worry."
Anno: ...I'm not worried about that, silly fish.
