Chapter 220: Ancient Kingdom
seabed.
Anuo was led by Mingxi through a large coral reef and into an underwater canyon.
Just as she was wondering where Mingxi was taking her, Mingxi had already swum out quickly through a narrow crevice in the stone wall with her.
Suddenly, the view opened up before me.
Countless luminous marine creatures illuminated the sea in front of her, and through the schools of fish, a magnificent city complex came into view.
The towering stone pillars are arranged in neat rows, the arched buildings are connected by arched domes and thick brick and stone walls.
This underwater city looks very ancient; judging from its architectural style, it is at least tens of thousands of years old.
The Northern Star system entered the technological age tens of thousands of years ago, and this kind of ancient-style architecture basically only appears in history books.
I never expected to see this kind of architecture underwater.
Mingxi led Anuo forward and swam into this underwater city.
Anno's gaze was drawn to the city's architecture. This ancient kingdom, which had fallen into the deep sea, was grand and imposing, as if it had traveled through ten thousand years of time.
Despite the erosion of history, the ancient kingdom still stands firmly in this sea area.
Her hand touched a tall, round pillar. She didn't know what material these buildings were made of, but after being submerged in the sea for so many years, there was still no sign of corrosion; they remained pure white and brand new.
Mingxi seemed to see through her thoughts and explained, "More than ten years ago, there was a transparent dome separating the seawater here, but the dome behind it broke down."
Dome?
It seems that the city is not as primitive as she thought; it does have technological features.
If they can build a dome to separate the seawater, their technology can't be that bad.
But what kind of creatures originally lived in this city?
They are probably not from the Northern River Star, but they are at least a highly intelligent species.
Could it be a mermaid?
Anuo watched as Mingxi led her to a palace. The palace was exquisitely built and inlaid with gems everywhere. The luminous pearls, larger than a fist, emitted a faint glow, not bright, but with a mesmerizing beauty.
Mingxi led her around the main hall and into another side hall. As soon as she entered, she was dazzled by the treasures piled up in the room.
"These are all things I saved."
Mingxi opened a treasure chest and took out a beautiful gauze dress. The dress was made of light and flowing material, emitting tiny golden glitters, and was also decorated with some small diamonds and crystals, making it very beautiful.
Anno watched him hold the dress up against her and asked, "Is this for me?"
Mingxi nodded. "Do you like it? If not, there are many more."
As he spoke, he shoved the dress into her hands, swam to the box, and pulled out more dresses. He also opened more than a dozen boxes next to him, which were full of beautiful dresses. Even amidst the treasures in the room, they still looked magnificent and dazzling.
Mingxi handed her a pile of clothes, saying, "Which one do you like? They're all yours."
Anno felt her eyes were about to blur. "This one will do."
She looked around the palace, then swam into a room to change into a dress.
For the next couple of days, she'll just go along with him, as long as she can't let him sleep.
After she changed her dress, Mingxi's eyes were practically glued to her.
"So beautiful."
As he spoke, he put a crystal necklace on her, and that wasn't enough. He also adorned her with various bracelets, armlets, earrings, and other jewelry, little by little.
Looking at the mountains of treasures piled up in the palace, she asked curiously, "Were these all there originally?"
Mingxi was carefully putting a string of gemstones on her head. When she asked, she replied, "I collected them all from all over the sea. Some are from this city, some I salvaged from shipwrecks, and some I won from other mermaids."
Anno exclaimed in surprise, "I thought you didn't interact with other merfolk."
Mingxi put the gemstone headdress on her and cupped her face, saying, "In all these years of searching for you, I have been to all the seas. During that time, I would meet some of my kind. I would not interact with them, but we would fight. I would always win some spoils of war."
Anno: As expected of Caesar's clone, he has never lost a fight.
Mingxi stared at her intently, her fingers gently stroking her cheek. "Now, all of this is yours."
Anno removed his hand from her face. This silly fish's gaze was too intense, making her almost afraid to look directly at him. Every time she met his eyes, she would be drawn into his beautiful golden eyes.
"Mine? This is a treasure you've kept for decades, are you willing to part with it?"
Mingxi smiled and said, "The purpose of me storing these treasures is for the person I am looking for."
Anno sighed inwardly, "What a silly fish, living a solitary life just to find someone she doesn't even know."
However, all of Caesar's clones are like this, which is why she always lets Caesar have his way.
His consciousness must experience this life hundreds of times.
Thinking of this, Mingxi secretly kissed her forehead, and she didn't scold him anymore. She just pretended to look down at the gemstone bracelet on her hand in a daze.
Tanville had just told her in the consciousness network that her mother would be coming in two days at most.
The waxing crescent moon has been located, but there is a time difference between the two parallel universes. Mingxiao calculated the time and arrived exactly two days later.
The fact that she could spend two days with this silly fish was her way of repaying him for his lifelong search and waiting.
There are many more clones, all destined to live lonely lives.
She couldn't even imagine how strong Caesar's mind would have to be to withstand these alter egos returning to his consciousness.
Having experienced sixteen years as a human, she can empathize with her family members using human consciousness, which is the origin of her soft heart.
After Mingxi carefully stole a kiss from Anuo, she was so happy that she wanted to hug her tightly.
But he knew she didn't like him taking the initiative, so he would take it slow. He would have plenty of time to spend with her in the future, and every minute and every second of his future would be with her.
The confusion and anxiety of searching for the unknown in the past all vanished at this moment, leaving only joy.
"How about we live here from now on?"
Mingxi half-embraced her, his voice magnetic and melodious, like a siren's low moan.
Anno wanted to say yes, but she couldn't bear to lie.
Her eyes swept across the palace. "Here? But there are only the two of us."
Mingxi lowered her eyes, "Isn't it good just the two of us? I will protect you, and I can find you anything you want."
Anno's expression turned solemn. "I am the princess of Claw Star, the future queen who will rule Claw Star. My palace will be even brighter and more magnificent."
She grabbed his arm, looked into his eyes, and said, "It's nice to be with you, but we can't be together all the time. I have to go back to Claw Planet."
That way, Caesar might feel a little better after she leaves.
He will wait for his Zerg princess.
Mingxi frowned slightly. "I'll grant you anything you want, but you can't live without me."
After saying that, Mingxi took her hand and swam out with her.
He led her to the throne in the main hall of the palace, pressed her down to sit, and then pulled out a crown from somewhere and put it on her head.
“You are the queen even here.”
Anno looked at the empty palace, feeling both amused and exasperated.
She removed her crown and said helplessly, "Then what do you want me to rule? A group of fish?"
All she could see were fish swimming around.
Unexpectedly, Mingxi nodded seriously, "If you rule the fish, you will rule the ocean. Then I will lead other creatures to conquer the land. That way, you will be the queen of this planet. If you are still not satisfied, we will go and conquer other planets as well."
As long as Anunu doesn't leave him and stays by his side, she can do whatever she wants.
Anno raised an eyebrow. "So you're going to be my vanguard?"
Mingxi placed her hands on the armrests of the throne, lowered her body in front of her, and looked her in the eye. "As long as I'm by your side, I'll do anything."
Anno couldn't help but reach out and touch his head, just like he always does.
Suddenly, Mingxi reached under her armpits and lifted her off the seat, then swung her around twice with her fishtail in the water.
His fishtail, as light as gauze, wrapped around her legs, bringing waves of ticklish sensation.
Mingxi tried to lean down and kiss Anuo again, but Anuo stopped her with her hand.
He paused, then took the opportunity to lightly peck her palm.
Anno pulled her hand back as if she had been burned, glared at him, and slapped him hard on the forehead.
"You're pushing your luck! I told you, no kisses without my permission!"
Mingxi chuckled softly, her melodious voice brushing against her ear like a feather, "Yes, Your Highness."
As soon as he finished speaking, a portal appeared beside them.
Before Anuo could react, Mingxi led him through the spatial portal.
