Chapter 488: Modern Era (If-Things) (16)
Login and his team did not alert the Special Administration Bureau regarding Anunu's special learning talent.
Her language and writing were already hinting to them that perhaps Anunu's identity was not as simple as that of a non-human being.
Her ability to heal is a double-edged sword for her.
They need more time to observe her; she's just a child right now.
Now, Anunu's every move is being watched and monitored by the Special Administration. It's already an exception that Anunu is allowed to live with them.
To avoid drawing attention to Anunu's actions from outsiders and the Special Administration, Tang Ting and Login had a serious talk with Anunu.
And he made a three-point agreement with her.
First, one must not reveal one's special abilities; second, one must not display any inhuman characteristics in front of ordinary people; and third, one must conceal one's talents and not let others notice that one is too clever.
“If other people find out that you are different from ordinary people, you will not be able to live with your parents, nor will you be able to go to school with your older brothers and sisters.”
Lokin solemnly said to Anunu, "Baby, especially your other language and writing, don't tell anyone about it except your mom and dad, and don't let anyone see it."
Anunu nodded as if she understood, but not quite. She had been to the Special Administration Bureau and knew that she was originally supposed to stay there, just like Xinghuo.
There wasn't anything wrong with that place, and Xinghuo was quite happy living there, but she wanted to be with her parents even more.
"Don't worry, Mom and Dad, Anunu won't let anyone find out."
Anunu assured Tangtin and Lockin that they would allow her to go to school with Baroque and the others.
A few days later, Anunu got a new school uniform and became Baroque's classmate as a transfer student.
"Hello everyone, this is my sister Anno."
Baroque stood on the podium, his face flushed, and introduced his younger sister to the students.
Anno held Baroque's hand and stood obediently beside him.
Every time Baroque spoke, the students below would applaud. They clearly knew that a new student was coming to the class, and they all looked at her with curiosity.
"My sister doesn't like people touching her hat and hair. If you don't have her permission, you must keep a friendly distance from her."
He puffed out his chest and said, "None of you are allowed to bully her."
The homeroom teacher, a young woman, smiled and said, "Annuo is the youngest student in our class, so everyone should help and take care of her."
A chorus of agreement followed.
Anno noticed that these first-graders seemed much better behaved than the little ones in kindergarten.
It seems that growing taller does have its benefits; it makes them a bit smarter.
Because Anno was the shortest, she was assigned to sit in the first row. However, she wanted to sit with Baroque, but the teacher kindly rearranged her seat so that she could sit in the middle.
After the first class, the students all gathered around. Because Baroque had said beforehand, they didn't get too close to Anno, even though they really wanted to touch her adorable bunny ear hat.
"Anno, this is a gift I prepared for you. I hope you like it." A female classmate placed the carefully prepared gift on Ano's desk.
The class monitor also placed his gift on Anunu's desk. "Anunu, welcome to Class 3 of Grade 1. If you have any questions about your studies, feel free to ask me."
Other classmates also presented Anuo with gifts they had prepared in advance.
There were over thirty students in the class, and over thirty gifts in total, mostly food items, plus some small toys.
They must have asked Baroque Anno what she liked beforehand, because they gave her gifts she liked: hats, dolls, and all sorts of snacks, which filled Anno's table.
"Thanks."
She thanked her classmates in Dongwu dialect with an accent.
On the first day, Anno found the first-grade curriculum quite novel, except that he only learned addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in math.
She did study Chinese diligently, and it was only through Chinese that she was able to start on the same footing as her classmates.
In the days that followed, Logan and Tangting continued to take them to their respective schools as usual. After a few days, Anunu volunteered to ride the school bus with Ota and the others to school.
After observing for a while, Anunu was not as silent as she was in kindergarten. Although she was still not very willing to play with other classmates, with Baroque around, she would occasionally be taken to participate in some activities.
Ota and Taotao would head straight to their classrooms as soon as get out of class ended, and the four children would go to and from school together.
However, after attending classes for a while and gaining a good understanding of the course content, Anuo became less enthusiastic in class.
Especially in math class, she would basically lie down and sleep. After the teacher showed concern for her a few times and saw that she always got full marks in math, the teacher just let her be.
The child, who is not yet six years old, should still be in kindergarten. Her first-grade teacher didn't have many requirements; it was already quite good that she could sit in the classroom without crying or making a fuss.
There isn't much to learn in first grade, and Anuo quickly mastered the knowledge in the textbook. However, she remembered what Luo Jin and the others had told her: she shouldn't show off her intelligence or be too overbearing.
So in the eyes of her teachers and classmates, she was just a student who was slightly better at studying. She was best at math, and her other grades were not the best, but they were still good.
Tang Ting and Luo Jin also kept a close eye on her condition, asking about her studies at home, so Anunu no longer needed to hide anything from them.
Knowing that she had thoroughly grasped the knowledge in the books, they decided to find her something else to do.
First, we'll look at extracurricular classes to see if Anunu has any favorite talents or skills to learn.
After Luo Jin took her to the Children's Palace, Anuo showed no interest in music and dance.
Tao Tao is learning drums at the Children's Palace, and Baroque is learning piano, but Anunu is not interested in any of them.
But when she passed by the taekwondo gym, she stood there and watched for a long time.
The teachers inside saw her standing outside and warmly invited her and Locke to come in and watch.
Looking at Anunu's expression, Lokin knew she was interested in this.
That's just how she is; she makes her likes and dislikes very obvious.
Logan sat down to the side with Anno in his arms, watching the children in white training uniforms shouting and training enthusiastically.
“Look, baby, your brother Ota is practicing Taekwondo here too.”
Following the direction Locke pointed, Anno saw Ota wearing protective gear, sparring with another child of similar age.
In just a few moves, the child opposite him was knocked to the ground.
The coach came over and said to them, "If the child is interested, you can let her give it a try."
So they brought Anunu a training outfit to change into, and a young assistant coach squatted down to explain the rules to her.
Anunu listened attentively. After she finished speaking, the teaching assistant taught her a few movements, which she then imitated quite well.
A furious shout rang in Anunu's ears. She turned her head and saw a boy of about fifteen or sixteen years old who spun around and kicked a wooden board held by a student in front of him, shattering it.
She pointed at them and asked the teaching assistant, "What are they doing?"
Seeing her blinking big, curious eyes, the teaching assistant took a wooden board and showed her how to kick it. However, it was also to satisfy her curiosity; he simply followed her movements and tapped her foot with the board.
Anunu thought about how the boy had kicked the wooden board and broken it. She stared at the wooden board in the assistant teacher's hand, and then kicked it down.
"Clang!"
She kicked the wooden plank and shattered it.
The teaching assistant was stunned. After a while, he came to his senses, looked at the broken wooden board in his hand, and then looked at the girl in front of him with a look of curiosity.
With her hair tied in two little ponytails, wearing an adorable cat-ear hat and overalls, her big, watery blue eyes could melt anyone's heart.
This adorable little girl is so small that you would never guess she could kick a wooden board so hard. Even though the board was just for training and not very thick, she's still so tiny.
The assistant coach ran to tell the coach, who looked at the broken wooden board in his hand and obviously didn't believe it. He even questioned whether the assistant coach had deliberately broken it.
"I swear to God," the assistant coach whispered in the coach's ear, "Even if I wanted to recruit more students, I wouldn't do something so outrageous. The parents aren't stupid; they know what kind of child she has."
The coach laughed and slapped his wooden board. "You know the parents aren't stupid. Do you really believe a five-year-old could break it?"
The coach glanced at the little girl standing there like a Barbie doll and said, "It's a miracle she didn't cry when she came to me like this. Alright, I'll go talk to her parents."
The coach, with a smile, led Anunu to Lokin. "I see the child really likes Taekwondo; he clearly has talent. How about we enroll him in a class to give it a try?"
Lokin looked at Anunu, "Baby, do you like it? If you like it, you can train with Brother Ota in the future."
Anunu nodded. She didn't particularly like it, but she thought it looked a bit more interesting than other music and dance performances.
Ota was very happy to learn that Anunu was training with him. Anunu and he shared the same interests in the family; they both loved models and various vehicles, and now they were training in Taekwondo together.
Now Anunu has a lot to do. During class, she secretly draws various vehicle model diagrams. After school, she and Ota can go to the school's model club together. On Saturdays and Sundays, she and Ota go to the taekwondo gym for training.
She lived a very fulfilling life. Listening to her adoptive parents, she gradually learned to hide her differences from ordinary people.
Time passed like flowing water, and she grew up little by little. Some of her physical characteristics that were different from others became apparent, and she also understood exactly how she was different from others.
Sometimes patterns would appear on her body, growing back on their own even when she wasn't using her powers, but fortunately, she could control them.
Not only did she have faintly fluorescent patterns on her body, but one day when Lokin was giving her a bath, soft, glowing tentacles also grew on her forehead.
