Chapter 144: Vast Expanse

Chapter 144: Vast Expanse

Anno watched as Bai Yan lit the fireplace. The flames crackled and popped as they burned the wood, a sound that had always brought her the most comfort when she was in the North District.

Outside, the world was covered in ice and snow, and the wind howled. But sitting by the fire, the chill was dispelled, and a renewed hope for survival and a longing for tomorrow filled my heart.

She looked at Cecil, who was squatting in front of her, and a slight smile appeared on her lips. "I remember you, Cecil."

Secris's eyes flickered. "I hatched a few years earlier than Your Highness and was fortunate enough to be by your side."

Augustus and Sevier placed their eggs with her to raise her own kind. Secris was the first to hatch, and his egg was next to Anno's.

After hatching, Secris would often go to see when His Highness would hatch. However, the newborn Zerg larvae needed special care, so he couldn't visit Anno every day. Every time he went, he cherished the moment and talked to her non-stop.

Now, through countless battles and slaughters, he has grown into a taciturn Zerg vanguard, who, when silent, is like a bloodstained blade, exuding a chilling killing intent.

Facing His Highness, he showed an unusual unease, fearing that His Highness would not like him, and tried his best to appear gentle.

He knew that His Highness preferred Caesar.

Anno reached out and touched his sharp eyebrows and eyes. He immediately moved closer to her and lowered his head like a knight about to be honored by the king.

Anno paused slightly and gently patted him on the head.

Mingxiao and the others watched from the side, their eyes filled with undisguised envy. They also longed to have His Highness pat their heads, and it would be even better if His Highness could touch their faces and hug them like Caesar did.

But they cannot disturb Her Highness now. Her Highness's consciousness is still affected by past memories, and she needs time to heal her psychological trauma.

The unique energy and consciousness network among the Zerg would soothe her chaotic consciousness, which was why she always felt sleepy.

Just as she said, she wanted to hide herself on one hand, and on the other hand, she wanted to explode like a wild beast. That's because what she wanted to hide was the wounded side of her past, the source of her pain.

The one who erupted was Anuno of the Zerg.

Inside the room, only Caesar and Secris sat with Anno, while the others went to the main hall for a military meeting. They were all leading their Zerg forces, and with a new interstellar war about to begin, they had to be prepared.

They want to avenge Her Highness all the harm she has suffered.

The Alliance had been making some subtle moves before, such as preventing the Zerg's currency system from being logged into Skynet, which was their way of trying to negotiate with them and get their energy.

The Zerg are self-sufficient. Even without commercial dealings with other star systems, it doesn't affect them in the slightest. They have their own survival system and don't need to trade with them. They have no conflict of interest with the Alliance. However, the Alliance still covets the Zerg's resources.

This opportunity has been put to good use, allowing them to wage war against us with impunity and plunder our resources.

The Zerg have torn away this fig leaf, revealing their ambitions.

Meanwhile, some of the other star systems in the alliance that did not participate in the war were still wavering on which side to take, while others were keeping to themselves. If they participated and won, they could also share in the incredibly tempting planetary energy of the Zerg, but if they lost, they would face the Zerg's frenzied attacks and retaliation.

Now the entire alliance knows that it was the Northern River that stole their Little King Bug. Not only that, the news that the Fireseed was obtained by fusing Zerg genes is also spreading like wildfire throughout the entire interstellar alliance.

Seeing that the Zerg had surrounded the doorstep of Beihe, they believed the fact that the Beihe system had stolen the Zerg Queen.

Because they know the Zerg's troublesome ways too well. To them, the Zerg King represents the entire race, and the little overlords represent the future continuation and hope of the Zerg. No matter how much the Alliance covets the Zerg, they can only covet the Zerg's resources. They won't set their sights on the overlords; that would be suicidal.

If they steal the Zerg's Little Queen, the entire Zerg will relentlessly pursue them.

Although many star systems dislike the Zerg, they trust them more in one respect: as long as they don't provoke the Zerg, the Zerg will never lay a hand on them, nor will they plunder planets and resources as they do in interstellar wars.

In interstellar warfare, the Zerg are always the peacemakers, taking a hit from everyone but never going too far, as if they're just participating.

Despite the annoyance, there was a strange sense of peace during the war; as long as they ran away or surrendered, the Zerg would stop fighting.

The Zerg are warlike and will not fight those who have lost their will to fight.

Some star systems knew that Beihe had stolen the Zerg Queen Insecta first. Although they didn't take sides, they wouldn't stand on Beihe's side to speak for them. Those who did take sides were clearly just trying to divide up the Zerg's resources, or they had long been enemies with the Zerg.

While some galaxies were still wavering, a bombshell announcement exploded within the alliance.

The Styx Galaxy, together with the Tianyun Galaxy and the Yaori Galaxy, joined the Zerg camp.

Those star systems that were still hesitating about whether to join the alliance invitation from the Northern River dared not show their faces now.

Putting everything else aside, the Sun Star System alone is one of the top three star systems in the Alliance. The Styx has not joined the Alliance, but its combat power is comparable to that of the Zerg. With the Holy Spirit in Tianyun, its ranking is no longer important.

What's the point of fighting?

Under these circumstances, the Northern River can only form alliances with some small star systems that are struggling with resource shortages.

Now, the various parties have begun to clash in the asteroid belt areas along the front lines in the North River.

In an inner hall of the royal palace, Augsis and Seville were communicating with the King of the Styx Galaxy, devising a war plan.

“You guys stay behind first, let Tianyun lead the way. We’ve fought Beihe before, and they have the means to suppress superpowers and cut off biological signals.”

In the video, a very handsome man sits at a desk. His background resembles a Zerg palace. A silver-haired girl sits beside him, holding a pen in one hand and dozing off with her head propped up by the other. Cang Miao occasionally places his hand on her chin, as if afraid she might bump her head on the desk.

Augsis said, "Understood. We have already sent an advance force. I will personally lead the troops. I must avenge Anunu with my own hands."

Cangmiao: "You decide for yourself. I will be visiting you with the Queen in a few days. We need to borrow your energy stones."

Sevier said, "You can use as many energy stones as you want, as long as Beihe pays the price."

After the call ended, Cangmiao scooped up the dozing Anaiya and pulled her into his arms. Anaiya found a comfortable position in his arms and curled up, asking sleepily, "Have you finished your official duties for today? What did the Zerg say?"

Cangmiao said, "Let Tianyun's past explore Beihe and their strategy for now. Styx has suffered losses at the hands of Beihe and Kasa before."

Anaya opened her eyes and looked at him: "I know, that time it was Upper Crescent Moon and Bright Lamp who were ambushed by Kasa with Bloodstone."

"Um."

Cangmiao stroked Anaya's head and said, "Kasa and Romira have had their resources harvested by us, so they've set their sights on the neighboring Zerg. I have to clean up their mess."

Anaya: "Alright, I'm going to fight anyway. There will be other Holy Spirits on Tianyun's side, so I have to keep a close eye on you."

Cangmiao looked at Anaya's exhausted appearance. Her energy was starting to dissipate again, and her energy strands were much weaker. If he wanted her to stay in the Styx River, he would have to go to the Zerg to find an energy stone that was more compatible with her physique.

He lowered his head and kissed her: "I'll take you to the Zerg in a few days. Didn't you say you've always wanted to see Anunu of the Zerg?"

Anaya: "Aren't the Zerg babies especially cute? So fluffy?"

Anaya had seen the Zerg's forms; some had small tentacles, and they were straightforward and didn't mince words, which made them particularly fun.

Cangmiao thought for a moment and said, "The original forms of the Zerg Aloo are all quite different. I've only seen the Anunu of Augsis and Seville once, when she was still in her egg. I don't know what she looks like now."

Upon hearing this, Anaya felt even more excited. However, thinking about how Anunu had been stolen by Beihe for so many years and had only just returned home, she felt a pang of heartache. "What does Anunu like? I need to prepare a gift for her."
