Chapter 328: Portrait of the Queen
A figure silently walked up behind Anuo, its tall figure enveloping her, its large hand enveloping Anuo's small hand.
Anuo turned around and hugged his waist tightly.
Sital hugged her tightly as well, gently rubbing his chin against the top of her fluffy head.
Anno pressed her face against his broad chest and mumbled softly, "You finally came to find me. I thought you didn't miss me at all."
Sitar sighed softly, his voice a mix of helplessness and indulgence: "How could I not want to? The Queen is keeping a close eye on us."
He lowered his head and kissed Anuo's forehead, his deep blue eyes gleaming in the dim light: "Anunu, did you miss me?"
Anno looked up at him, opened her mouth and bit his chin. "I don't want to."
Sitar's lips curled into a smile, and he affectionately nuzzled her nose against his. "If you don't want to, we can meet again when the Queen lets me out next time?"
Anuo pursed her lips, pinched his waist, and said defiantly, "Fine, I won't see you then."
As she spoke, she tried to get out of Sitar's arms, but he held her tightly. She glared at him and said, "Let me go."
Ignoring the accusation in her eyes, Sitar lowered his head and pressed his forehead against hers, asking again, "You really don't want to?"
His voice was magnetic and ethereal in the empty palace, making Anno's ears itch.
His breath washed over her face, and his unique warm fragrance enveloped her. After seeing him, the restlessness in her heart dissipated, and she felt much better.
Looking at the face so close to hers, Anuo felt a wave of unease wash over her, and whispered, "I still miss you."
Sitar chuckled softly, stroking the back of her head repeatedly.
His kisses landed gently on her forehead and the tip of her nose, finally stopping on her lips. His voice was slightly hoarse as he said, "How about you do it this time?"
Anuo paused for a moment, not quite understanding what was going on, before blurting out "okay".
Sitar stared at her intently, waiting for her to make her own move.
Seeing the confusion in her eyes, he gently pinched her chin, pecked her lips, and said in a tender voice, "Like this..."
The next second, Anno hugged his neck, pulled him down, and kissed him on the lips.
It's different from what I dreamed about, and it's different from when I was drunk.
Now she could clearly feel his soft, warm, and fragrant lips. Just by touching them, she could feel an indescribable joy, and the tingling sensation in her heart returned, like a tender sprout struggling to break through the soil.
Sitar was too tall. In just one year, he had fully reached adult form and was nearly two meters tall. Even when Anno tried her best to pull on his neck, it was still difficult. She was struggling, and Sitar was struggling too. So she simply jumped onto him and wrapped her legs around his waist so that she could be level with him.
Sitar held her up, his deep blue eyes growing even darker.
Anno took a deep breath and said to him, "You're not allowed to move."
Sitar's Adam's apple bobbed: "...Okay."
Anno stared at his face for a while, then mimicked him, kissing his forehead down to his lips.
As she curiously and tentatively licked her lips, Sitar patiently guided her little by little with his mouth open.
This time, Anno's mind was incredibly clear, sensing every single detail of their entanglement.
It was warm and soft, and his sharp teeth, which he couldn't retract, scraped against it, making it tingly and a little itchy.
It was a sensation that rose slowly up her spine, carrying heat straight to her head.
Before long, she felt a little dizzy from the heat.
She felt as if she were merging with Sitar. The ambiguous whispers echoing in the empty palace made her heart pound. The light strips hanging by her ears emitted a crimson glow, their heat astonishing.
From initial curiosity to shyness, and now to the unease that has been surging within her, an uncontrollable urge to demand more, she relentlessly pursues Sitar, her breath growing heavier and heavier.
Sitar could sense all her emotions. He suppressed the frenzied urge to possess and plunder within him, released Anunu, pressed her head against his shoulder, gently patted her back, and soothed her tenderly, "It's alright, it's alright..."
Anno didn't have his self-control. She had been suppressing her feelings for the past few days, and now Sitar had brought them all out. She pressed her hands against Sitar's shoulders and kissed his face like a chick pecking at rice, leaving his cheeks wet with kisses.
Sitar couldn't help but laugh at her eager kiss, soothingly patting the back of her head and pressing her onto his shoulder again.
"Okay, sweetie... feeling better?"
Anno bit his neck, panting softly as she leaned on his shoulder, humming and muttering, "I don't know, I feel weird, it's just...it's just..."
She really didn't know how to describe it, or how to say it.
I have a concept in my mind, but I can't quite put it into words.
Sitar whispered in her ear, "I know, wait a little longer, not now."
After a while, Anuo finally quieted down and mumbled an "oh," then said, "How much longer do we have to wait?"
Sitar didn't say, but depending on the situation, it will probably take a few more years.
Even after Anunu enters the adult stage, it needs to stabilize.
He said, "If the Queen finds out that I came out to see you today, she will punish me by forbidding me from seeing you for a year."
Anno rested her head on his shoulder and said, "Then I'll see you secretly, just like today."
Sita paused for a moment, then led her to the portrait of Seville's mother. "Anunu, don't underestimate your mother. She was a powerful queen, even in the entire history of the Zerg."
Anuo hummed in agreement and said proudly, "I know, Mom is amazing."
Sitar smiled and gestured for her to look at the painting on the wall. "So, sometimes you have to listen."
Following his gesture, Anno looked at the portrait in front of her. A Zerg queen appeared alone in the painting. She was wearing a long, elaborate robe and sitting upright with a sharp longsword on her lap. Her expression was serious, her eyes were sharp, and she looked very majestic.
Just by looking at this painting, you can feel the immense pressure emanating from the queen. Just looking at it makes you feel breathless and afraid to look directly into her sharp and piercing gaze.
She is like a sharp sword that can be drawn at any moment, its edge fully revealed.
Her imposing presence made everyone overlook her beautiful appearance; with such a powerful queen, no one would care whether she was beautiful or ugly.
It only filled me with awe for her.
The portrait bears the Queen's reign title and name.
Darklight, the 156th Queen of the New Insect Calendar
successor Séville
The Zerg calendar starts anew from the nearly destroyed era of the Sital.
Throughout the Zerg's history, whenever a major catastrophe or a war that wiped out the race occurred, and a new transformation was achieved, the year would be reset.
The new insect calendar has also experienced several major wars, but it has survived them all and continues to this day.
Anno curiously touched the portrait of the Dark Light Queen. This portrait did not contain any male insect kings or followers, nor even a mother. It only featured the Dark Light Queen, which was extremely rare in other queen portraits. Other queen portraits without male insect kings and followers at least had baby insects by their side.
Unless a major event occurs that causes a generational gap, such as the queen's death and the hatching of the baby queens, this situation is very rare. It has only happened once since the new Zerg calendar, and coincidentally, neither the queen nor her successor left behind any portraits.
She went through the stored information in her mind. Although she didn't know much, the Dark Light Queen had a long reign, and her mother had been taught by her for a long time. Her mother only succeeded to the throne after the Dark Light Queen returned to her ancestors.
According to what she knew, her father was personally found by the Darklight Queen from the nest and handed over to her mother.
After this information flashed through her mind, her consciousness inadvertently connected with her mother, and the majestic voice of the Dark Light Queen appeared in her mind: "What I can give you is not gifts and wealth, but the responsibility of the entire Zerg, Seville. What you bear is the continuation of the Zerg. I will not allow the Zerg to fall in your hands. Make the Zerg strong for me."
"Your gift is only him. Although the male insect king is useless, he can at least share some of your burden."
