Chapter Eleven: Peaceful Sleep

Chapter Eleven: Peaceful Sleep

Anno soaked in the bathtub, the warm water and the comforting scent of the medicinal powder making her feel drowsy.

After washing her thoroughly, Tuka lifted her out of the tub, had her sit on a stool, and applied a powder to mask the smell of the fire.

Outside the watchtower, Mike and Apa were dealing with the projector, which had malfunctioned due to the blizzard, while simultaneously deploying a drug that could deceive the sense of smell. They had just gone to meet the delivery person and had already noticed that there were quite a few people around. This watchtower was in a relatively secluded location, and people rarely came this way. As soon as the fire was delivered, people were loitering nearby, which meant that something must have been discovered, so they had to be on guard.

In the blizzard, several aircraft flew back and forth between abandoned residential areas.

“Lu Si'en, the scent of the embers disappears right here.”

Lu Si'en stopped the aircraft, leaned back in his chair, put his legs on the control panel, and looked at the increasingly heavy snow outside, scanning the abandoned residential area.

Dick, the subordinate in the co-pilot's seat, turned to him and said, "Lu Si'en, the snowstorm must be too heavy, masking the smell. Should we wait for the snowstorm to stop before we search again?"

Lu Sien curled his lips into a smile and said casually, "The blizzard may cover your noses, but it can't cover mine. That's the smell of the fire. Once the blizzard stops, the Federation will have already taken him away."

Dick asked hesitantly, "Luss, is that really the spark? Could someone be deliberately deceiving us?"

This is Casa, a planet that's practically abandoned. The environment is so harsh that even ordinary cubs would have a hard time surviving here, let alone the precious and delicate Fire Seed cubs. It's a bit too far-fetched for Fire Seed cubs to appear here.

"Deceive us? Then catch him and kill him."

Lu Si'en opened the communicator on his personal computer: "Go down and search everyone."

He was 100% certain that a sparkling offspring had been born on Casa. Just now, they received a message from a party they had frequently done business with, saying that they had lost contact with the Black Thorn people after their transaction.

Just then, they received news that Federation personnel were heading to Casa, and that they had even sent Legion members.

The federal government usually turns a blind eye to these gray areas because they are very difficult to deal with, and they don't make a big fuss about it.

He had just led his men to search the place where their people were trading. It was an abandoned petri dish base. When he was outside, he could smell a strong scent of the spark. When he went inside, he saw that one of the petri dish machines was still running, with golden culture liquid spilled all over the floor. Both the automatic distress message from the spark displayed on the control panel and the culture liquid that still contained the faint energy of the spark told him that a spark had been born in this abandoned petri dish base.

I don't know who was so bold as to cultivate a spark here. Now that spark has disappeared, those people who traded here can't escape.

The aircraft landed one after another in the ruins. Just as Lu Sien was about to get off, his personal computer beeped with a communication sound. He raised his wrist to open the communicator, and a communication projection popped up: "Lu Sien, we found out. The one who came out to trade with Jeremy and the others today is Hicks."

"Understood." Lu Si'en hung up the communication and jumped off the aircraft.

"Hicks..."

It's best if it's not you.

A pair of wolf ears emerged from the top of his head, and he twitched his nose, catching a faint scent of fire in the blizzard.

He took a deep breath, savoring the sweet and delicious taste that made his blood boil, his eyes gleaming with a ghostly light, and transformed into a giant black and white dog, galloping forward.

Behind him, his subordinates also transformed into beasts and ran quickly behind him.

"Come on, let's dry your hair."

In the room on the second floor, Anno and Huo Yin sat on the edge of the bed, and Hicks was drying their wet hair with a towel. Tuka brought a hairdryer and handed it to Hicks.

Anno watched as Hicks turned on the cylindrical hairdryer switch. He let go, and the hairdryer flew above her head, blowing warm air.

From the petri dish base to the watchtower, she witnessed many technologies that were ahead of her time, each one of which fascinated her.

As the hairdryer automatically blew around her hair, she curiously poked it with her finger when it flew in front of her. The hairdryer immediately shook itself, the movement very natural.

She found it amusing and couldn't help but poke it a few more times.

Watching Anno playing with the hair dryer, Hicks looked around the room and picked up a palm-sized ball from the bedside table, handing it to Anno.

Anno looked at the ball in front of her, which was made up of very small cubes. She reached out and touched it, and the ball turned into a fluid, floating up from her palm and emitting the same light as the band of light behind her ear.

Hicks knew that Anno could understand what he was saying, so he squatted down in front of her and said softly, "This is a shape-shifting ball. It is made of a kind of active mineral and will automatically change into the shape it wants to be based on the surrounding objects."

Anno looked at Hicks's gentle and patient demeanor and nodded in response, "Mm."

Seeing her obedient appearance, Hicks smiled and patted her head. This time she did not dodge his hand, but her body paused slightly, feeling a little uncomfortable.

Huo Yin placed his hand over hers. His body temperature was higher than average, and feeling the warmth from his hand, Anuo held it in hers. She turned her head and met Huo Yin's clear golden eyes.

She noticed that whenever she looked at Huo Yin, his gaze was always on her; he was constantly focused on her.

She thought that perhaps it was the strange energy within her that made him dependent on her.

Besides Huo Yin, the other children also kept staring at her, wanting to get close to her, but with Huo Yin around, they could only watch longingly.

After a comfortable bath and a hearty meal, Anno felt a little sleepy. Hicks dried her hair, carefully combed it, and seeing her eyelids drooping, he tidied the bed a bit, picked her up, and placed her in the middle of the bed.

The room on the second floor is a combination of two rooms. The room where Anuo is now staying is where the children live. It is a bit crowded, but it is filled with many fabric dolls. The room has bright colors and looks warm and comfortable.

Anno turned her head and saw that it was snowing heavily outside the window. She vaguely remembered that in the past, she had gone out to find supplies in extremely cold weather. Her hands and feet were so frozen that she almost lost all feeling. She also had to endure hunger and guard against attacks from mutated creatures and enemies.
