Chapter 263: Not a Single Piece
Just as she was wondering what was going on, she saw the child in the petri dish move. She quickly withdrew her energy to avoid Dennis noticing anything amiss.
Xinghuo moved twice and then fell silent again. At this moment, because of her movement, her face also turned from the other side.
Anno saw her face amidst the floating pink hair.
Exquisite and cute, but that doesn't quite suit her.
If we're talking about resemblance, why does she feel like she looks a bit like her second sister?
Dennis only replicated her genetic blueprint from when she was a spark, not cloned her using her genes. He also made some modifications to give the child the powerful physique of the Zerg.
The more Anuo looked at the child, the more she felt that the child resembled her second sister, especially her eyebrows and eyes, which were upright with a hint of sharpness, and her lips were tightly pursed, which made her delicate and lovely face look a bit serious.
She looked at Xinghuo's face, a thought flashing through her mind, but it was too fast to grasp.
Dennis took her on a tour of the petri dish factory for a while, where she also saw Bai Yu.
These enhanced humans were all handpicked by Dennis; they had excellent genetic qualities and were suitable for modification and enhancement.
Anno secretly placed a wisp of energy on Wen Ye and Bai Yu to monitor their movements at all times.
She also placed a wisp of light on Xinghuo. She had a question about her second sister in her heart, but she couldn't figure it out yet. Perhaps she could get the answer from Xinghuo.
Dennis led her to the room where Sital was imprisoned.
Seeing that Sitar was alright, Anno breathed a slight sigh of relief.
"Do you know him?" Dennis asked Anno.
Anno looked at Sitar with a bewildered expression.
Dennis smiled and stroked her head, saying softly, "Aloo, you can sense his core. Now, you need to help me guide his core out."
Anuo squeezed her palm hard and nodded silently.
"Good boy." Dennis was very happy.
He opened the door that was locked with Sital and led Anno inside. "You get used to him first. Tomorrow we'll extract his core. This core belongs to Brightman, understand?"
Anno continued to nod.
The door to the room closed again, and Dennis stood in the doorway for a while before walking away.
Anno knew there were definitely cameras in the room, so he didn't dare to go up and talk to Sitar. He just sat down on a stool to the side.
Sitar got out of bed and walked over to her.
Anno kept her head down and didn't move.
Seeing how enthusiastically she was putting on an act, Sitar smiled and gently poked her cheek.
Anno couldn't help but say to him in her mind, "Don't move, Dennis and the others are watching!"
At such close range, she was already able to connect with Sitar's consciousness.
When Anno entered, Sitar used Tanvel's abilities to create an illusion that could deceive Dennis and his companions.
Seeing Anuo still acting so hard, her well-behaved and adorable appearance made him feel a little itchy. He leaned down and kissed her forehead.
Then, with a smile in his eyes, he watched her reaction.
Anno tried hard to suppress his expression, staring blankly at Sitar, wondering whether he should reach out and hit him, otherwise he wouldn't look like he was being controlled.
As she hesitated, Sitar placed his hand on her head and rubbed it, saying in her mind, "Anunu, they can't see."
Anno immediately broke character and jumped up from the stool. "Really?"
Sitar's expression softened: "See for yourself."
Anno naturally believed Sitar; she had just been holding it in for too long, and now that she didn't have to pretend anymore, she immediately felt much more relaxed.
No need to act anymore, Anno hugged Sitar tightly, rubbing her face against his neck, "I missed you."
Sitar tightened his grip on her and hummed in response.
Anno pouted in dissatisfaction, "Hmm what? You should say you miss me too."
Sitar deliberately remained silent, so Anno hugged him and rubbed against him, pinching his cheeks and saying, "Are you going to tell me or not? It's been so long since we last saw each other, don't you miss me at all?"
Fortunately, they are used to communicating through consciousness, otherwise Anno would have been unable to resist speaking up.
Sitar's forehead touched Anno's. "You can feel whether I miss you or not."
Their consciousness was never closed to each other; Anno could sense all of his emotions and thoughts about her.
Sital's warm lips landed another kiss on her forehead, his voice growing deeper, "I told you when I kissed you just now, but you didn't hear me."
I miss you, I miss you every single moment.
Anno was finally satisfied. She cupped his cheeks and kissed his forehead back, then held his face and looked at him carefully for a while. "I haven't seen you for a few days, but I feel like you've grown up a lot."
Sitar bent down, picked her up, and put her on the bed. "I'm not a cub, so I naturally grow fast."
Anno: "An egg that's tens of thousands of years old is still an egg."
Hearing Anno's defiant tone, Sitar smiled inwardly, "You haven't been sleeping well these past few days, now get a good night's sleep."
She arrived in an unfamiliar environment filled with enemies, and her mind and consciousness were constantly on edge.
Anuo rolled over onto the bed and pulled him along, saying, "Come with me."
"Okay." Sitar lay down beside her, reached out and pulled her into his arms. "Sleep, I'm here."
Sitar held her hand and looked at it repeatedly, his eyes darkening slightly: "You are not allowed to use self-harm as a way to deal with things in the future."
"It doesn't hurt anymore, it's all better now." Anuo felt incredibly safe and secure enveloped by his aura. Even in this dangerous place, she felt no fear or unease whatsoever.
Seeing that there were no signs of injury on her hands, Sitar's expression softened slightly, and he pulled her closer to him.
She couldn't sleep either, and talked to Sitar about Dennis's plan to take his core the next day.
“He can’t get it out.” Sital hugged her, gently stroking the top of her head with his chin.
Anno turned his attention in his mind and realized that he had already contacted Mingxiao and Tanwell, and the two of them were going to retrieve her core fragment tonight.
Dennis used his abilities on Sitar, but Sitar instead managed to spy on his memories. In Sitar's memories, he found two core fragments that Dennis had hidden.
Sure enough, she had more than one core fragment.
"What about Xinghuo?"
Although Xinghuo is an enhanced human, she is still ultimately a Northern River Star person with genes that are not as strong as those of the Zerg. Removing the core fragment might kill her.
That child looks so much like my second sister, and he's so young, she can't bring herself to do it.
Sitar did not hesitate at all: "We must take the fragments."
He patted Anunu's back reassuringly, "Our core is a whole. If there is a hole, the core will become fragile. You can't see it now, but as you grow, the core will need more energy and will be unable to balance the energy."
“I saw the genetic map of Spark in Dennis’s memories. She has a strong body, so removing the fragments won’t have a significant impact on her health.”
"However, we need to take her away, and we need to use some methods to remove the core fragment from her body."
Anno was relieved to hear that it wouldn't affect the child's health.
"By the way, Tata, I have another question. Xinghuo looks a lot like my second sister. Is it a coincidence?"
Sitar: "We'd need to see Karina's genetic map to know."
Anno paused for a moment: "You suspect that Second Sister is also a cyborg?"
"Yes, that's a possibility."
Sitar had seen all of Anno's memories, and now he had seen Dennis's memories, leading him to this conclusion.
“Your core fragment is not a single piece; based on the known size of the core fragments, piecing them together would yield less than half of the original fragment.”
The other half of the core fragment could be one piece, or it could be more.
At that time, Anunu's core was likely damaged by some accident and shattered into several pieces, which were then taken out by these Northern River people for experimental modification.
Anno fell into deep thought. When she was still a Fire Seed, she had spent time with her second sister and the others, and she had never heard any information about her second sister being an enhanced human.
The second sister is the child that Luo Jin and Tang Ting adopted through normal procedures.
Now they can't contact anyone else, so they can only ask them after they get out of here.
Sitar continued, “This batch of embryos from Spark was modified by Dennis according to the existing plan. There were people trying to create enhanced humans before, but they failed. The data Dennis looked at was from 22 years ago. Karina is 21 years old this year, and she is very likely the one who succeeded, but the data has been altered.”
If Sitar can say that, there's at least an 80% chance he's certain that Karina is a cyborg.
He was so certain because he found a key point in Anno's memories related to Karina: Karina had been controlled by Dennis before.
But in reality, she wasn't under control; she was just pretending.
Dennis's abilities have now reached SSS level. Except for the Zerg, who are a special case and cannot be controlled by his consciousness, no other sentient being can escape his control.
This is why Dennis is so confident in his abilities.
When Karina was under his control, her abilities were only at the S-rank, and she lacked defensive capabilities, making it impossible for her to resist Dennis's mind control on her own.
She may possess a core fragment of Anunu.
