Chapter 146: Bitten

Chapter 146: Bitten

Anno was held tightly in Sevier's arms, with only her head showing. Her embrace was warm, as if she were enveloped by the surging energy of Sevier and Augsis. This was how she had been enveloped by her mother's energy when she was still in her shell.

That was an energy and aura that gave her immense peace of mind.

Her father and mother were both incredibly powerful kings of the Zerg. The aura they exuded was an immense pressure that made other Zerg dare not breathe, but it gave her a great sense of security.

She was held quietly in her arms, as if she had never left the Zerg, and was still an Anunu who could be willful and spoiled in her mother's arms.

Anno looked down at the two spine whips in her hands, which were warm to the touch. These were the most sensitive and wary parts of the insectoid race, but whenever they were in front of her, Sevier and Oogsis would extend the spine whips from her back to touch her.

Although Zerg can communicate through the consciousness network, physical contact exchanges more substantial energy and makes consciousness communication clearer, which can enhance the sense of security for the young.

Anno stared blankly at the flickering flames in the fireplace. Suddenly, she saw many figures in the flames, images flashing by, accompanied by a cacophony of sounds including the wind, screams, and roars.

She immediately closed her eyes and shrank into Sevier's arms; she didn't want to see, didn't want to hear...

"Nunu, don't be afraid, it's all over now, Mommy's here."

Sevier sensed Anno's emotional fluctuations, saw the same scene in her consciousness network, and could hear what Anno was hearing.

Augsis soothed her by stroking her long hair and back, "Daddy's here too. Nunu will never have to go through this again. Don't be afraid."

Sevier and Augsis connected their consciousness with Anno's powerful connection in order to keep a close eye on her emotional changes. Her past experiences had caused her severe psychological trauma, especially after she merged with the core and regained her memories and identity, which was a huge blow that could not be healed in a short time.

Caesar and Secris, who were watching over her, looked at Anno's condition with heavy breathing, their hands clenched into fists, and their eyes filled with heartache.

Sevier and Augustus tried to soothe her emotions with their minds as usual, but it only made her feel sleepy.

As soon as their consciousness began to settle in, Anno gripped Sevier's clothes tightly, "No, I don't want to sleep!"

Anno's voice was slightly hoarse, with a hint of tremor.

She didn't want to sleep anymore, she didn't want to keep hiding from her past.

"Okay, okay, we won't sleep."

Sevier kept stroking her back to soothe her emotions.

Anno struggled for a moment, then got out of Sevier's arms and walked quickly outside.

Augustus and Sevier immediately got up to follow, but stopped after taking a couple of steps.

Anunu wanted to be alone and didn't want them to follow her.

Anno walked faster and faster, eventually jogging, running out of the palace and around the long corridor, finally stopping in a hollowed-out courtyard. In this courtyard grew a glowing, white tree, which upon closer inspection was also an energy crystal, but it had grown into the shape of a tree.

Caesar and Cyrus quickly caught up with Anno and saw that she was barefoot on the smooth ground. Cyrus immediately lifted her up from behind.

Anno swung her legs angrily, "Put me down!"

"I'm sorry, Your Highness." Cyrus knelt on one knee, placed Anno on his other leg, and held her small, fair feet in his hand.

With a stern face, Anno turned around and scratched Cyrus. Cyrus hadn't put up any defenses, and Anno's claws, extending from his fingertips, left several bloody marks on his face.

Secris lowered his head slightly, still supporting her as she sat on his lap, dragging her feet, motionless like a statue, letting Anno's claws scratch his face.

Anno looked at the blood flowing from his face, then at his own sharp claws. Although they weren't as sharp as those of other insectoids, capable of cutting through iron like mud, they could still inflict damage on flesh and blood.

She looked down and watched as Cyrus's large hands easily gathered her feet, warming them up.

After a moment, she withdrew her hand and gently touched his injured cheek. "I'm sorry..."

"Your Highness, you did nothing wrong, there's no need to apologize to me."

When Cyrus heard her apologize, his voice was filled with unease and fear. How could he let His Highness apologize to him!

“Your Highness, this is the honor you have bestowed upon me.” Cyrus looked up at Anno, his words sincere.

Anno pursed her lips, looking into his loyal dog-like eyes, a wicked thought welled up in her heart, "Then give me a bite, and I'll add some glory to your life."

As she spoke, she grinned at him, and when Secris looked at her small, white teeth, his breath hitched slightly, and a surge of heat rushed to his head.

Your Highness is so adorable!

Secris tried his best to control his expression. With both his hands full, he simply placed the whip in front of her. "Your Highness, you don't need to ask what you want to do."

Anno looked at the spine whip that was shimmering with light in front of him, and hesitated before taking it in his hand. This was a sensitive and vulnerable part of the Zerg.

But she had just said she was going to bite him. Seeing the focused look on Cyrus's face, the irritable factor of her insectoid race, which had been hidden for three hundred years, began to act up. She opened her mouth as if to take a bite.

Just then, Caesar brought Anno's shoes from her room. He stared wide-eyed at her holding the Cycris whip in her hand, about to bite it.

What is Cyrus doing?!

He immediately stepped in front of Anuo and grabbed her hand. "Your Highness!"

Anno paused, looking at Caesar who had suddenly appeared in front of him.

Secris looked at Caesar with a slightly cold gaze as Anno's actions were interrupted.

Caesar exchanged a brief glance with him, then took Anno's foot from Cyrus's hand and put shoes on her.

"Your Highness, be careful not to catch a cold."

After Caesar put shoes on Anno, he wrapped a shawl around her.

Although the chances of Her Highness getting sick are small, they are not nonexistent. After all, the body is made of flesh and blood, and she can feel cold and heat.

After being interrupted by Caesar, Anno no longer had the intention of deliberately tormenting Secris.

She touched Secris's face, and his scratches healed instantly.

She stood up from him and walked to the base of the crystal tree.

Secris stood up and stood behind Anno, stroking his face with a regretful look.

Caesar and Cyrus stood together, his expression impassive, but in his mind's eye, they were already arguing.

"Secrus, what do you think you're doing?!"

"What I want to do is none of your business."

"If you have the guts, then speak up and tell me. You put on a righteous and profound act in front of His Highness, but you swear in front of us, right?"

Secris scoffed, "Aren't you the one who's best at putting on airs here?"

Caesar maintained a smile while relentlessly berating Secris within the consciousness network.

The other family members who were pulled into the group chat were completely confused as they listened to the argument.

The Zerg consciousness network can connect to the consciousness of an individual, or it can pull others into the network they have created.

Just like the chat software in Skynet, you can chat privately or create various groups individually. In the open consciousness network of the Zerg, members of each Zerg race will also create various small groups privately.

Mingxiao and the others heard Caesar say in the consciousness network, "Next time you let His Highness bite the whip, I'll cut it off!"

The other five members of the family: Huh?! What?!

"Holy crap, Lord Secris, you actually let His Highness bite with a whip! You...you...you..."

Mingxiao was so shocked her jaw almost dropped.

I never expected that Cyrus, who usually looks so deep and unapproachable and whose eyes are like daggers, would do something like this.

No wonder even Caesar, who is usually the most audacious towards His Highness, was furious.

Mingxiao hurriedly asked, "Did it bite? Did it really bite? Did it really bite?"

Tanvel: "If the little prince really bit him, would Caesar still be here arguing with him?"

Mingxiao breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this. Indeed, if they had really bitten each other, Caesar and Secris would probably be fighting fiercely outside.

He thought to himself, "Tsk tsk tsk, who would have thought, Lord Secris! That was a whip! And His Highness bit me..."

Mingxiao thought of the feeling of His Highness's little sharp teeth biting the whip on his back, and an indescribable tingling sensation snaked up his back. Oh no, he was starting to feel that way too.
