Chapter 332: Good Intentions

Chapter 332: Good Intentions

Before the Dark Light Queen's core was about to extinguish, she was to go to the temple, ready to reunite with her ancestors at any time.

Séville hoped her mother could say something more to her, but her mother said nothing. She remained silent until her departure, living alone in the palace, not even seeing her family, and her consciousness was completely shut down.

No Zerg queen has ever been as withdrawn as her. The Zerg are a social group with close ties among their members, but her mother simply ignored her.

She was about to ascend the throne, yet she still didn't know what her mother was thinking. She was filled with resentment, anger, and rage, but her face remained increasingly cold.

During those days, she kept a close watch on her mother's palace and instructed her family to keep an eye on her as well, for fear that she might sneak off to the temple alone and not be able to see her one last time.

She didn't want to hate her mother for the rest of her life.

One day, after finishing her official duties, she was about to go back to rest when she saw her mother standing under the crystal tree as she walked through the corridor and courtyard.

She no longer dressed solemnly as usual; even in the palace, she wore a layer of soft armor over her clothes and carried a long sword, ready to fight at any moment.

She wore a floor-length black dress, her long white hair cascading down her back, simply held back with a jeweled headband, looking impeccably groomed with no other adornments.

It still looked incredibly majestic, but with a touch more peace.

Sevier could barely sense her mother's core energy anymore. She stood there, her mind a jumble of emotions, just looking at her mother, the words she wanted to say stuck in her throat.

They gazed at each other for a while, and before she could say anything, the mother turned away.

The mother placed her hand on the crystal tree, using the last bit of energy from her core to sense their planet through the crystal tree.

The light shone on her mother, and although it wasn't particularly bright, it felt somewhat dazzling to her, and her eyes stung.

After a long while, she heard her mother's voice: "Anunu, I have nothing more to teach you."

"Put on the crown yourself and ascend the throne."

More than a hundred years have passed since she hatched. At the moment of her final farewell, her mother did not call her by her name, but called her Anunu, which is the ancient insect word for baby. She had never heard her mother call her so affectionately before.

So much so that she couldn't react for a long time; it was as if a huge bell was ringing heavily in her head, making her unable to hear any other sounds.

The next day, the mother went to the temple alone, and she put on her armor again, her figure upright.

She wouldn't allow anyone to see her off, not even to watch her go.

Only Sevier stood outside the palace, watching her mother's figure gradually recede into the distance until it disappeared from her sight.

After her mother's core energy completely dissipated, she herself put on the crown and ascended the throne.

She will become the new queen of the Zerg.

Even after the Zerg changed their queen, other civilizations dared not invade.

Back when Sevier was fifteen, during her first battle, they had already experienced the ferocity of this heir, the Little Queen Insect, who was no less ruthless than her mother, the Dark Light Queen.

It was after she took over that all of her mother's good intentions gradually became apparent over time.

Interstellar turmoil, the birth of Anunu, and the current war that reshapes the entire galaxy have ushered in a new era of change for the Zerg.

Her mother had paved the way for her.

The mother represents the last conservatives of the Zerg. She knows that this is the limit of her power. The mother knows everything, so she closes off her own consciousness, letting her senses and explore on her own, so that her daughter can lead the Zerg into a new era.

She recalled the day she questioned her mother about whether she loved her.

Her mother replied, "Sevier, the biggest difference between you and all the other insectoids is that you are the Queen Insect, while they are the servants. So, you are all the same."

It wasn't until she acquired Anunu that she truly understood the meaning of those words.

When she was very young, her mother showed her through her actions that the Zerg were one, and that the swarm would give everything for the Overlord, even if only one person remained, because the Zerg could only continue with the Overlord.

The mother devoted herself wholeheartedly to the Zerg, so how could she not be sacrificing for her?

It just took her a long time and many experiences to truly understand this emotion that transcends the genetic inheritance of the Zerg.

From then on, she could only bury her mother deep in her heart.

I can't say whether I blame my mother or myself; perhaps it's both.

In the past, she always felt resentful, wondering why her mother was always so strict and cold towards her, doing nothing but training her.

Now that she has realized her mother's good intentions, her inherent stubbornness and competitiveness make her even more resentful. She can do it herself and doesn't need her help. She has already beaten her and is no weaker than her.

But she could no longer vent her anger to her mother.

"Mother."

A soft, dependent voice pulled Sevier back to her senses.

She looked down at her arms, where Anunu, a tiny bundle, lay nestled in her embrace, like a newborn cub.

She hugged Anunu tightly, kissed the top of her head, and suppressed the surging emotions in her heart.

Anunu shifted her body, resting her head on Sevier's shoulder so they could look at each other at eye level.

"Mommy, the Dark Light Queen is so kind," Anunu said softly, placing her small hand on Sevier's face.

Sevier paused slightly. "Sweetheart, you think the Dark Light Queen is very good?"

“Yes, your mother must have had a very hard childhood, but she must have loved you,” Anunu said firmly, as if she knew Sevier’s deepest secret.

As she spoke, she kissed Sevier's cheek. "The Dark Light Queen is very good, and you are very good too. Anunu is very lucky to be able to feel her mother's clear love at all times."

"If...if Anunu is ever willful, Mom, please don't be sad. Anunu will grow up and understand..."

Sevier took a deep breath, hugged Anunu tightly, and said in a slightly hoarse voice, "Anunu can be willful, can throw a tantrum, and never have to apologize. You are the most noble and bravest queen of the Zerg."

"With Mommy here, Anunu doesn't need to rush to grow up. She can stay by Mommy's side a little longer, okay?"

"good."
