Chapter 331: No Longer Looking Up
Sevier spoke calmly to Anunu about her mother, and the hint of longing in her eyes was a rare and precious emotion.
She quickly concealed even that slight emotion.
In her memory, her mother's strictness and coldness, the heartache and grievances of her childhood, her irritable and rebellious temperament in her youth, and her resentment and obsession in adulthood all became bland narratives in her mouth.
She has become another powerful and ruthless queen of the Zerg, keeping the old Sevier hidden in her heart, unwilling to bring it out again.
Even for her most beloved Anunu, she only wanted Anunu to see the strongest side of being a mother.
Anno lay in bed, feeling a little sleepy, but still energetic as she listened to her mother talk about her past.
She snuggled closer to her mother and asked, "Mom, did you defeat the Dark Light Queen later?"
She also knew some of her mother's past in her mind. Her mother intentionally hid her memories of the Dark Light Queen. Even if she went to look for them, she wouldn't be able to see them if her mother didn't open them up.
This is a memory that belongs solely to the mother, and it does not involve the interests or continuation of the Zerg. It is a part that she can "keep private."
Sevier smiled faintly: "I guess you could say I won."
Later she learned that every time her mother fought her, she used an energy field to suppress her abilities. The energy field formed by her family members and specially made mineral instruments, combined with her mother's personal superpowers, fooled her.
After seeing her mother's portrait, she also put away her last hope for her mother and gradually became a qualified heir. She stopped running away willfully and restrained her irritable temper. She was like the Dark Light Queen in every way, yet unlike her in every way.
Deep down, she was still stubborn and irritable, while the Dark Light Queen was always calm and ruthless, with a restraint that Sevier never noticed.
From a young age, the Darklight Queen placed strict demands on Sevier, requiring her to fight constantly and to become a powerful Zerg who could not be defeated by any harsh environment.
As for other things, such as Sevier's willfulness and volatile temper, she never suppressed them.
Séville can be willful, throw tantrums, act spoiled and pampered, and even turn against her mother with swords.
And she, in turn, will teach her responsibility and commitment.
She wanted to make Séver someone who could bear the consequences of her own actions.
Only by bearing the consequences can one avoid regretting everything they've done.
Sending her to the battlefield is to show her the cruelty of the universe, to show her why the Zerg are so powerful, and that all of this cannot be explained simply by her being a mere Overlord.
The higher the position you hold, the greater the responsibility you bear.
If the Zerg are weak, they will be trampled underfoot, and their star system will be coveted by people from all directions of the universe.
She left home recklessly, so she had to be able to survive outside. The intense training she received in the early stages ensured that this simple-minded girl, who had never been exposed to foreign civilizations, would not suffer and could live well on her own merits.
Her fiery temper and irritability make her prone to making wrong judgments. Only by letting her gradually calm down and figure things out on her own can we help her develop her personality.
Séville gradually came to understand her mother's good intentions, but a thorn remained in her heart, causing her a dull ache whenever she thought of it.
A thick wall was built between her and her mother.
She became increasingly distant from her mother, and all their communication was limited to political matters.
In her final battle with her mother, she shattered her mother's knife and aimed directly at her mother's vital point.
All the servants were so shocked that they knelt down. The immense pressure emanating from the two king insects almost made their hearts burst.
Her mother looked at her calmly, as if she were the same person she had looked at when she first crawled out of the pit after being thrown to the bottom to fight as her mother did.
“I won.” Sevier’s hand holding the knife was steady, but her voice trembled slightly.
It was a mix of excitement and overwhelming sadness.
She finally defeated her mother and surpassed the Dark Light Queen.
Her mother gazed at her for a long time before turning and heading towards the palace. In the blink of an eye, she vaguely saw a slight smile curving up at the corner of her mother's mouth.
When I tried to see clearly again, all I could see was my mother's back.
She stood there stunned for a moment. It must have been her imagination.
My mother never smiled.
After hesitating for a while, she followed behind her mother, just like when she was a child. Covered in wounds, she cried as she followed her mother. No matter how fast or slow she walked, her mother always kept the same distance from her. Even when she couldn't walk anymore and sat down on the ground to beg, her mother would not scold or reprimand her, but would stop and wait for her patiently.
She was so cold and ruthless, yet so patient and emotionally stable.
Her temper was gradually worn down by her mother, and in doing so, her fighting spirit was also ignited.
Looking at her mother's back, she realized that her back was no longer tall, unlike when she was a child, when looking up at her was like looking up at a high mountain.
She felt a pang of sadness; she had grown up, and she had become as tall as her mother.
In the days that followed, the mother spent less and less time on the throne, and government affairs piled up. No one dared to ask her a question, much less urge her on.
So the family members began to focus their attention on her. She had been in charge of government affairs for many years, and was already very familiar with them.
She handled the pile of administrative tasks methodically. They seemed simple, but they were actually quite tedious and complicated. She was skilled in combat, but she was actually impatient with handling administrative tasks. She preferred to stay on the front lines.
But now these things have unknowingly fallen into her hands, and once she takes them on, she can't let them go.
Over the years, her temper has been tempered and she has become more patient, so she can handle things quite well with patience.
Her family members also helped her share the burden, so it wasn't too difficult.
She suddenly thought of her mother, who had lived like this all these years without ever showing any impatience and handling all matters with ease, making her seem as if it were very simple.
But after actually taking over, I realized it wasn't that easy.
Unbeknownst to her, she had been in power for several years, taking over most of her mother's political affairs. Her mother basically didn't interfere with her, and even if she made a mistake, she wouldn't care and would let her handle it herself.
She gradually stopped coming to the main hall, and the throne remained vacant. She never succeeded to the throne, nor did she ever sit on it.
She wasn't incapable of ascending the throne; she was simply still internally competing with her mother.
One day, her mother took an egg from the nest and gave it to her.
It was a male insect king egg. When she received it, the egg was still warm and emitting a faint glow. The male insect king inside had stable energy and would hatch soon.
The mother said, "Although the male insect king is useless, he can still help you with some of the burden."
After the male insect king was handed over to her, the mother's energy began to weaken noticeably, and it became weaker day by day. No amount of energy stones could supply the mother's core.
This is a sign that he is about to perish.
She began to panic, though she had sensed it as her mother gradually handed over power to her, ignoring political affairs.
But in her heart, the Dark Light Queen remained a towering mountain, an indestructible presence.
My mother is so strong that she never feels she has any moments of weakness.
