Chapter 42: The Vast Sea
Ocean Star, outer orbit.
Anno's fighter jet safely entered the orbital range of Canghai Star. The rebels hiding in various starports dared not cross the outer defense line of Canghai Star. Canghai Star was a heavily armed stronghold of the Beihe System, and its defense line was as solid as a rock.
This time, they used almost their most trump card to infiltrate the starport, spending countless manpower and resources. Most importantly, most of their spies planted in the Northern River Federation have emerged.
The loss was enormous because they failed to obtain the Fire Seedlings.
Now most of their people have been wiped out, and the Zerg warplanes are still lurking nearby, striking any rebels that show their faces with precision. They are even more aggressive than the Northern River Legion. They can only grit their teeth and watch from the shadows. Not only can they not continue their operations, but they also have to find a way to escape the search.
At this moment, Anuo was holding an energy stone that Tang Ting had stuffed into her hand, looking at the yellow planet in front of her with great interest.
Canghai Star is a desert planet. Long ago, Canghai Star was a blue-green planet with oceans and rivers, thriving life, and a lush green landscape.
At that time, Canghai Star was not called Canghai. Later, several major changes that affected the planet occurred on Canghai Star. At the same time, the rapid development of technology accelerated the planet's depletion, and the climate changed drastically. At that time, the planet was no longer suitable for habitation, and people gradually moved to the inner planets.
The greenery on the planet disappeared, the oceans and rivers vanished, and the entire planet became a desert.
The planet was renamed Canghai Star, meaning that times have changed and the world has changed.
Even so, unique life has developed in the yellow sands of Canghai Star. Life is always fragile yet tenacious, and there will always be life that can adapt to the current planetary environment.
It wasn't until the establishment of the Northern River Federation that Canghai Star was redeveloped and utilized as a defensive base for the Northern River system, giving this desert planet a new lease on life.
Anno looked at the several huge rings around the Canghai Star, which encircled the star like its star rings, and were quite spectacular.
Upon entering the atmosphere of Canghai Star, Anuo was greeted by a variety of unique buildings towering into the clouds. Their silver shells gleamed in the sunlight, and various transportation tracks crisscrossed and shuttled high above the buildings.
Tang Ting looked at An Nuo's curious expression and said with a smile, "Baby, the capital of Canghai Star is just ahead. Let's stay there for a few days."
The fighter jets were extremely fast and soon arrived over the capital. The entire city was covered by a huge transparent protective shield to protect it from the erosion of yellow sand and extreme weather.
After entering the protective shield, Lockheed began to slow down, and the fighter jet flew over the largest artificial lake in the center of the capital.
Anno leaned against the window, looking down at the artificial lake. The lake was truly beautiful. A flock of white birds flew over the lake, their tails a fiery color. Then, huge fish leaped out of the lake. These groups of silver fish had slender bodies that shimmered with a faint light. As they leaped from the lake, they spread their translucent fins, glided on the surface for a while, and then fell back into the water.
Looking at the scene, Anno was amazed. It was so beautiful; she had never seen such a beautiful place before.
To give her a better view, Tang Ting had her stand on the seat while he held her waist to prevent her from falling.
The fighter jets flew through the city, escorted by a guard, and landed on a platform of a building in the central square of the capital.
The consul, having received the news, and several officials were already waiting there. As soon as Logan emerged, he immediately composed himself, his posture upright and his steps steady as he walked toward the consul.
"Commander Lockin, you must be tired from your journey."
Governor Byrne of Canghai Star extended his hand to Lokin, who gave him a military salute before shaking his hand.
"It's not hard work, but the Fire Seed Cub has suffered with us. The rebels have their eyes on her."
Upon hearing this, Bourne's expression turned solemn. "Don't worry, you and your cubs can stay here and rest well these next few days. We'll definitely clean up all these... villains for you!"
Byrne almost swore. Although he was the governor, he was a soldier. Eighty percent of the people on Canghai Star were soldiers. When he received the news that Lokin and a group of important officials had brought the Fire Seed cubs to Canghai Star, he hurriedly ordered people to arrange the best accommodations. He also reminded himself to be polite and civilized and not to leave a bad impression on the cubs.
When Tang Ting carried An Nuo out, the Canghai Star people who were waiting for her on the tarmac couldn't help but turn their gazes to her.
That tiny, adorable little bundle instantly captured everyone's hearts. They held their breath slightly, looking at her with utmost affection.
They remained outwardly calm, but inwardly they were in a frenzy of amazement: the little cub looks so adorable! It's just too cute!
The little cub's slightly curly pink-gold hair was loosely draped over her body. Her pair of wet, blue eyes were crystal clear and looked more beautiful than gemstones. Her features were so delicate that there was no flaw in them. Her fair little face was slightly flushed, and the light band of her flame symbol hung on her shoulders, shimmering softly.
The little cubs were so cute that they couldn't resist touching them.
Because Canghai Star is an inhabited planet located on the outermost edge of the North River System, it is not very safe for the Fire Seed. The planet's environment and climate are not very suitable for the Fire Seed to live on, so it is the only planet among the main planets of the North River System without the Fire Seed.
They rarely see fire, much less often than people on other planets, so the fact that there is one right in front of them makes them extremely excited.
Anno leaned on Tang Ting's shoulder, her gaze sweeping over the futuristic and technologically advanced skyscrapers. In the past, she would also gaze at the night sky in the quiet of the night and ponder whether humanity was the only species in the universe, and whether those of them living in the apocalypse could develop technology to the point of flying out of Earth and exploring the universe if they could survive it.
Strangely enough, she had a difficult life since childhood, often going hungry, yet she would always look up at the night sky, her eyes searching for something in that expanse of stars.
What exactly was she looking for? She had no answer in her heart.
Tang Ting saw that Anuo was quietly resting on his shoulder and thought she was tired. He said to Luo Jin, "Baby must be tired. Let's take her to rest. It's time for her to have her milk."
Upon hearing Tang Ting's words, Bourne immediately replied, "A place has already been prepared for the cubs. Akise will take you there."
Bourne's assistant stepped forward, gestured for them to proceed, and then walked toward the aircraft parked to the side.
