Chapter 56: Fever
In the afternoon, Anuo woke up from her nap feeling unwell. Tang Ting examined her and then decided not to let her go out for the time being.
Anno leaned against Luo Jin's chest, clutching the baby bottle, looking rather listless. She tried to cheer herself up, but her body was too weak, and in just a short while, she started to feel feverish.
Luo Jin touched her feverish forehead and asked worriedly, "Is it because you got wet at noon and were exposed to the wind?"
At midday, the sun is at its zenith. Although there is a large temperature difference between day and night on Canghai Star, the daytime temperature is relatively high. People on Canghai Star basically wear short sleeves all year round, and in the coldest times, a jacket is enough.
Anuo got wet at noon, but there wasn't much wind, so we quickly changed her clothes. However, she's too weak right now, so we can't be careless at all.
Tang Ting opened the prepared medicine package and took out a fever-reducing patch to put on her forehead. "That's partly the reason. The baby's energy is not stable yet. She may have recurring fevers in the next few days. It's not a big problem. I prepared fever-reducing medicine for the baby. The fever will go down in a while."
Although it was only a short time, Anno could feel her body temperature rising, her eyes were dry from the fever, and she felt dizzy and weak as she lay in Luo Jin's arms. She barely managed to finish the bottle of milk before losing her appetite.
She used to get sick often, especially when she was injured. Her physical functions would decline, and even if it was just a superficial injury, she would get sick inside, either with a fever or feeling short of breath and weak.
Those medications had little effect on her; some not only had no effect but also worsened her condition. She could only tough it out, forcing herself to eat even when she couldn't.
The doctors at the base examined her several times and only said that she was prone to allergies and was allergic to most medications.
She endured it all as she grew up. Later on, her injuries healed much faster than before, almost to the point of being comparable to people with healing abilities. She thought it was because her physical functions were gradually becoming stronger, since she had always relied on herself to tough it out every time she was injured.
Now she has a vague guess that she might still have the same physique and the same body as before, only her body has shrunk.
Although she is only three years old in this body, she has never felt any rejection or other discomfort; her soul remains in her own body.
But can the human body really shrink?
Even if she could, why would she be in this world instead of still being on Earth?
Anno has many mysteries in her heart. She can only slowly understand the world she lives in and her current identity in order to have more ideas to solve her doubts.
Now, she has to contend with the discomfort caused by this fragile body.
"hat......"
In a daze, Anno said these words to Locke.
She loves hats and used to collect all kinds of hats, but her favorite is the fluffy woolen hat, which makes her head feel warm and secure when her head is wrapped in soft silk fabric.
Upon hearing her words, Tang Ting picked up the hat that was lying to the side and put it on her.
As soon as she put on the hat, the couple saw her light band actively disappear inside, hiding herself completely.
Luo Jin stroked her cheek affectionately, "Nuonuo, be good, you won't feel uncomfortable in a little while."
"Um."
Even though she was in great pain, Anno still responded when she heard Lokin's voice.
The cool fever-reducing patch on her forehead made her feel a little better. Luo Jin put her on the bed and, together with Tang Ting, helped her lower her temperature using physical methods.
Looking at her busy parents, she was filled with a strong emotion that made her feel satisfied, and her heart ached.
She no longer has to bear it all alone; even a minor fever will be met with concern and care from others.
Her fever subsided quickly, but she still couldn't go out to play.
She sat on the bed, where she could see Baisha Lake through the window.
It is evening now, and the sunset has bathed Baisha Lake in golden light. A flock of white birds fly across the lake, and silver flying fish leap out of the water, their long tails shimmering like thin gauze woven from gold threads in the setting sun.
Anno was standing by the window at some point, holding a cushion in her arms, staring blankly at the scene outside.
She saw a group of children playing with a bubble toy below. The bubbles could transform into all sorts of animals and even make very vivid movements.
Tuka and the others were playing downstairs, with Li Yue and Wu Sui keeping them company.
Seeing their happy expressions, Anuo's lips also curled up slightly.
Countless bubbles floated into the sky. Suddenly, a bubble that looked like a cat floated to her window. The bubble cat stretched and then rolled around in front of her, acting all cute and affectionate.
Looking at the big cat's affectionate manner, she thought of the big cat that used to warm her in the winter. She walked to the French windows and placed her hand on the glass.
The bubble cat sat up and placed its paws against the window.
"What is the baby looking at?"
Seeing that Anno was standing by the window, Luo Jin went over to ask her.
As soon as she arrived, the bubble cat burst in front of Anuo, turning into a mist and dissipating.
Looking at the sky full of bubbles, Luo Jin squatted down next to Anuo, put his arm around her and said, "Baby, let's go down and play again later."
Anno nodded, looking down at the crowd below. The sky was gradually darkening, but the crowd was still bustling with activity. After a while, she looked away and went to the side to turn on her personal computer to continue learning the language.
By 7 p.m., Anuo had recovered and finished her baby food after drinking a bottle of milk.
Tang Ting examined her body again and, seeing that there were no problems, he and Luo Jin prepared to take her out for a walk again.
Luo Jin went to get her clothes to wear when she went out, while Tang Ting removed the small patches from Anuo's body. She was half a head shorter and much thinner than a normal three-year-old Fire Seed Cub. These were small medical devices to help her strengthen her physique and bones so that she could grow taller in the future.
Just after I removed the patch from her, someone in the crowd suddenly screamed, and the crowd instantly became chaotic.
Lokin strode to the window, his gaze sweeping downwards. He saw that some beasts in the crowd had revealed their forms and were acting extremely aggressively, attacking the group.
In just a short while, more and more people transformed into beasts, filling the wide street.
Many parents with children saw this and tried to take their children away, but their children were also transformed into beasts.
"Alo!"
Upon hearing Tang Ting's voice, Luo Jin turned his head sharply and saw Tang Ting kneeling on the ground, far away from An Nuo. His expression seemed to be trying his best to endure something. His hands were pressing hard on the ground, the veins on his arms were bulging, and fine sweat was beading on his forehead.
Tang Ting's head was now adorned with leopard ears and fangs. He struggled to suppress his urge to transform and said to Luo Jin in a low voice, "Luo, quickly gather the alien guards! Someone has released something nearby..."
Login immediately reacted, quickly tapped a few times on the computer, sent out the gathering code, and then picked up Anno.
