Chapter 141 The Player's Deception

Chapter 141 The Player's Deception

Awakened from his sleep by a chill, Orochi opened his eyes and saw an enlarged "X" in front of him.

Before he could even be frightened enough to call for a samurai to come in and protect him, Kurozumi Orochi saw the mysterious intruder's gaze sweep over him through the leather-colored paper bag, and then he spoke in a chilling tone that could only be described as threatening.

What?!

Those few words were probably the most offensive things Orochi had ever heard. He practically pointed his finger at him and called him the most despicable person in the world who deserved to be struck by lightning!

Orochi was so angry that his hands were trembling, and he couldn't utter a single word while pointing at Violet.

And Violet wouldn't give him a chance to call for help.

With a gentle wave of the icy staff hidden in his sleeve, ice instantly enveloped the entire room. The thick layer of ice ensured that even if the Black Charcoal Orochi screamed his lungs out inside, no one would hear him and rush in to save him.

The sudden chill jolted Orochi awake from his dream, and he looked at Violet with a start, then realized that the person in front of him seemed a little different from the rebel he had imagined.

The other person was dressed in a moon-white kimono, with an ethereal and cold aura around her. As the black charcoal serpent watched, a semi-transparent ghost emerged from her shoulder, its round eyes looking down at him.

Kurozumi Orochi: "..."

Kurozumi Orochi: "A demon, a demon..."

Violet, who had specially sprayed herself with [Soul Seducer] before coming, nodded in satisfaction. It seemed that her timing was still perfect.

“Ghost? I think it’s you, the most deserving person in the world, who has a guilty conscience.” Violet chuckled. “I heard a woman crying in the snow before, and I thought she was making up a story to amuse me.”

"I never imagined that someone like you actually existed in this world—a heart of pure blackness, a filthy soul, and memories so putrid they're nauseating… How fascinating!"

As Violet spoke, the ghost lured by the [Soul Lure] slowly drifted down from behind her, landing in front of the giant black serpent, passing through his body under his horrified gaze.

Kurozumi Orochi: "Ah! You, who exactly are you?!"

“A human?” Violet scoffed, her index finger resting on her chin. “Do you think… I am a human?”

"Beauties, ugly people, nobles, commoners, knights-errant... I love collecting ice sculptures made by different kinds of people, but my ice sculpture collection is missing one like you, an utterly wicked villain."

"You should feel honored to be part of my collection and to become an immortal part of me in the snow."

Isn't that just being completely frozen into a human-shaped popsicle? It's an immortal part; it's frozen solid, so of course it can stay fresh for a long time!

He doesn't want to!

But it was no use for him to refuse. As soon as Violet finished speaking, the black charcoal serpent felt a chill on the soles of his feet in terror. Before he could even beg for mercy, a thick layer of ice rapidly rose up until it covered his chin, leaving him unable to move inside the thick ice.

The black charcoal serpent let out a scream from its throat in extreme terror, but before the scream could fully escape, it was startled by Violet's shushing gesture, causing it to swallow it back down.

Kurozumi Orochi: "I, I'm not called... No, no, no, let me go, you can have whatever you want, build a temple, burn incense, erect a monument and offer sacrifices!"

What does she need that for? It's bad luck.

Vera reached out and hooked her arm around the little ghost floating beside her. The translucent, pale ghost clung to her arm obediently like a little puppy: "I have no interest in those things."

The black charcoal serpent immediately showed a pitiful, teary-eyed expression, making Violet's hands itch with desire.

That's disgusting, I want to beat it up.

"...But I enjoy listening to stories."

Kurozumi Orochi's eyes lit up. He liked listening to stories, that was great! He was very good at making up stories!

Violet, who could see through Orochi's thoughts at a glance, raised her hand and pointed at him from a distance as a warning: "I hate made-up stories, I only like to hear stories that actually happened."

"If you dare to lie to me, then let these little cuties keep you company."

What cute little thing? That's clearly a ghost!

Orochi quickly pledged his loyalty: "Of course not, of course not! How could I dare to lie to you?"

Taking advantage of the rare opportunity, while Kurozumi Orochi was still in shock from this sudden development, Vera carefully questioned him, extracting almost everything that Kurozumi Orochi knew.

Could this be considered a supplement to the background story of Wano Country? Anyway, Violet heard the whole story of Kurozumi Orochi's rise to power, and finally couldn't help but punch him unconscious.

Before knocking the black charcoal serpent unconscious, Violet explained that because he had done so many evil deeds, he was now haunted by evil spirits, and that she would live happily ever after with the little ghosts.

The giant black charcoal snake was so frightened that he cried and said he was willing to pay any price to get rid of the ghosts. Violet gave him the standard answer of praying to the gods and Buddhas - do more good deeds and spend money to avoid disaster.

While it's not expected that a simple scare tactic will change Orochi's nature, at least the lives of the residents of Wano Country will improve slightly for a while.

In addition, the intelligence that Violet gained from this daring infiltration was considerable.

Just as Violet had guessed, there was indeed a conspiracy behind Orochi's trip to Onigashima. Although most of the people who planned this had anticipated Orochi's unreliability and had intentionally concealed some things from him, the information that was revealed was enough for Violet to realize that this was a trap.

The empty Beasts Pirates headquarters and Orochi himself were the bait in this trap.

And another unexpected gain... Vera squinted her eyes and ran towards A-Yue's house.

I wonder if Kikunojo and the others have discovered that traitor?

"An undercover agent?"

Kikunojo's beautiful eyes widened in disbelief: "How is this possible? How could he be a traitor?"

Vera: "Why is it impossible? You can't say that Denjiro was only allowed to infiltrate Kurozumi Orochi's group under the alias Kyoshiro, while someone as cunning and treacherous as Kurozumi Orochi did nothing, can you?"

"Is Kurozumi Kanjuro really a traitor?" Kikunojo was unwilling to believe that Kurozumi Kanjuro, who was also one of the Nine Red Scabbards, was an undercover agent sent by Kurozumi Orochi to infiltrate the Kozuki family. However, once he started thinking along these lines, he could understand why some of their previous plans had been inexplicably leaked.

Kikunojo frowned. Like him, Kurozumi Kanjuro had been sent to the future by Lady Toki's Devil Fruit ability, but for some unknown reason, he was separated from them and failed to go to the prophesied future as Lady Toki had planned.

However, if nothing unexpected happens, Kanjuro Kurozumi will be with the remaining Nine Red Scabbards, and they obviously don't know that Kanjuro is a traitor.

Violet was quite relaxed. The worst thing about spies and traitors is not knowing their identities. But once you find someone, there's nothing to worry about. On the contrary, you can use them to pass on some false information to mislead the enemy.

"Besides, there's no use in getting anxious now."

Vera reminded Kikunojo to be aware of the current crisis.

Who do you think Kaido is targeting with this trap?

Kikunojo thought for a moment and then said with certainty, "It is us, the former retainers of Kozuki, and the samurai in Wano Country who are dissatisfied with his rule."

Thinking of the invitations Ashura Doji and the samurai he had received, Kikunojo could no longer sit still and prepared to dissuade the samurai from jumping into the trap.

Violet thought the small crisis was over, but when Kikunojo returned to his room the next day after working all night, he gave Violet a result that she could hardly understand.

"You mean, even knowing it was a trap, they still decided to attack Ghost Island?!"

What kind of thought process is this? Why doesn't she understand at all?

Kikunojo was unusually angry. He had tried to persuade them all night, but instead of getting the samurai to come back, he became the one they called a coward who had forgotten Oden's kindness.

Don't they realize that their failure will only give Kaido more reasons to arrest Wano Country's samurai?

In response, Violet stated that incompetent teammates are often more destructive than formidable opponents.

Vera suggested, "Should we take down those warriors ahead of time?"

"...The problem is that we don't know exactly how many people they've incited." There's no time left to investigate.

"Then there's nothing we can do." Vera shook her head, and Kikunojo also looked dejected, calculating in his mind how to minimize the damage from this crisis.

"Then let's take down Kurozumi Orochi."

"Pfft! Cough cough!" Kikunojo, who was struggling with a headache, suddenly looked up. "What?"

“I mean, kill Kurozumi Orochi.” Wilton paused, then added, “Of course, it doesn’t necessarily have to be killed; imprisonment, expulsion, or something like that are all acceptable.”

Kikunojo's pupils dilated, his expression blank. He wondered if he had been too tired last night and had suddenly fallen asleep, otherwise he would not have been able to understand what Vera was saying at all.

How did things suddenly take such a dramatic turn that we now need to kill Kurozumi Orochi?

"To make the trap more realistic, Kaido will inevitably withdraw a large portion of his forces from Onigashima, leaving most of his remaining personnel to be deployed near the trap. At that time, Wano Country's defenses will definitely be weak."

"At this time, as long as we seize the opportunity, we may be able to overthrow Kurozumi Orochi."

If it were just about killing Kurozumi Orochi, Violet could have done it last night. But the most troublesome thing about a regime is the various forces and colleagues who depend on it, besides the top leader.

As a gamer, Vera's thinking is quite wild and unrestrained. Therefore, she keenly sensed that this trap was a crisis, but it was also a golden opportunity for Kikunojo and his group.

Kikunojo, after being shocked by Violet's idea, suddenly realized that Violet was right after all.

Kikunojo reminded himself to stay calm: "...No, even if we can overthrow Kurozumi Orochi, Kaido won't let it go when he returns."

"That depends on who you put forward as the next Shogun of Wano Country."

Kikunojo felt his heart pounding wildly. Reason told him that Violet was speaking in a light tone about something terrifying that would mean certain death if one went astray, but he was still uncontrollably following Violet's words, as if bewitched by a succubus.

Kikunojo felt a tightness in his throat: "Who do you think it should be?"

Those who favor the Kozuki family will displease Kaido, and those who favor Kaido will not agree.

Kikunojo doesn't think there's a suitable candidate who can satisfy both sides.

But during her time in Wano Country, Violet has accomplished countless impossible feats.

"Yamato, and the daughter of Oden whom you found, will be in power."

"how?"
