Chapter 86 The Golden Body is Destroyed
Pingyu had no way of knowing what happened at Nezha's palace.
Her parents said that if she was going to Cuiping Mountain, she shouldn't just stay for a few days; just in case, it would be best to stay for half a month.
You can only feel at ease when everything is completely over.
As the carriage was about to depart, someone was waiting in front of the Lin family's house.
Yesterday, a brightly dressed woman came to her door. The eldest sister immediately recognized her as Green Robe, the young master's most trusted slave, and led her inside. As soon as Green Robe entered, she stuffed two large bags of silver into the house. When the bags were opened, one bag contained gold, and the other loose copper sheets.
All this money combined is enough for her family to live comfortably for decades after buying their new house.
She recalled that, in her moment of utter terror, the slave girl calmly said, "Young lady, Miss wants you to wait for her in front of the Lin residence tomorrow. One bag contains the reward, and the other has another purpose. You must arrive on time tomorrow; do not be late. If you arrive late, Miss may have already left home!"
The eldest sister didn't know what she had done to deserve being chosen to handle a task that would cost Pingyu so much money. She swallowed hard and accepted the task in a daze. So today, the eldest sister arrived at the Lin residence early. She waited for a long time, holding Mimi, and finally saw Pingyu come out.
The young mistress was dressed unusually plainly today, seemingly going off on some unknown journey. She wore a white dress, but upon closer inspection, one could see gold thread embellishing it. While it exuded wealth, the eldest sister felt the color didn't suit her. Her skin was already fair, and the white dress made her appear as if all her color had faded, like she was in mourning. However, the eldest sister remembered that the young mistress's clothes were something her family couldn't afford even after a lifetime of hard work, so she suppressed her criticism.
The woman in green saw the eldest sister and nodded to her. The female slave turned aside to shield herself, and the eldest sister stepped forward and asked in a low voice, "Master, what do you need me to do?"
Ping Yu said, "Come closer to your ear."
She beckoned, and the younger sister leaned in close. She caught a whiff of the perfume on the young master and felt a little embarrassed to get too close. Pingyu reached out and pulled her closer, muttering a few words under her breath.
The girl in green couldn't hear what Ping Yu was saying, but she saw her younger sister's eyes widen. The little girl looked terrified, as if Ping Yu was ordering her to kill someone. As she listened, she waved her hands, saying, "No, no, this is too important, how can I do it?"
The girl in green could hear the next sentence clearly. Pingyu stopped whispering to his older sister and instead took the little girl's hand, saying earnestly, "Older sister, Nezha and I only have you left. Besides you, I really don't know who else to ask for help!"
Even Green Robe didn't know what her young mistress was going to do, and it was even related to the deceased Third Prince.
Although she didn't know the content of the conversation, it didn't stop Green Robe from feeling jealous. She said rather unhappily, "Miss has never said anything like that to me!"
The younger sister was at an age where she longed to become an adult, and being asked such a favor by a beautiful, wealthy young lady made her feel a little flattered. Her heart softened, and her cheeks flushed.
After a moment, she withdrew her slightly sweaty hand from her palm and nodded, saying, "Alright then!"
As he finished speaking, the driver, observing the sun, reminded her, "Miss, we should go now."
The forest is full of ghosts and monsters; they must reach Cuiping Mountain before sunset.
Pingyu nodded, then turned to his younger sister and said, "Then I'll leave it to you."
"Don't worry, young master," the eldest sister said, accepting the task and becoming calm. She took Pingyu's hand briefly before letting go, saying, "Have a safe journey."
Fearing that the calamity would implicate Green Robe, Pingyu traveled alone this time. The moment he sat alone in the carriage, the smile on Pingyu's face faded.
She just told me about her younger sister's affairs, which involved Li Jing.
From the moment Pingyu learned that Li Jing was returning, she kept recalling the plot of the original Investiture of the Gods. She remembered that it was during this period that Li Jing smashed Nezha's golden body, and after smashing it, he slandered Nezha, saying that he was a born demon who had changed the color of his spiritual power and pretended to be a god. Before leaving, he even told all the worshippers present not to come and offer incense to this evil spirit again.
Human thought possesses energy.
Not only in the book, but also in the Li Jing that Pingyu came into contact with, he was such a person.
Perhaps he did have love in his heart, but it was too thin, not enough to overcome his instinct to love himself. He could love Nezha, or he could not. No one dictates that parents must love their children; after all, everyone considers themselves a benefactor of a piece of flesh, not a relative. Pingyu simply disliked that after abandoning Nezha, he still wanted to use his reputation to escape his predicament and use Nezha's blood as a thread to continue his own dream of glory.
She couldn't stop the wheel of fate, but she could clear her friend's name.
The eldest sister and a group of slaves watched Pingyu board the carriage. As the dust kicked up by the carriage wheels obscured their view, her heart was filled with complex emotions.
The younger sister bid farewell to the green dress and returned home.
Because she had told her family that the two bags of money might have to be returned to a benefactor, her parents did not dare to touch them.
The young owner said that the bag of gold was for her, and the copper was for someone else.
Firstly, her family was short of money, and secondly, this was indeed trouble caused by her younger sister.
If it weren't for my little sister, the Third Prince wouldn't have died.
Only when she speaks will these facts be truly convincing.
The younger sister grabbed her purse, calmed herself down, and rushed out the door.
Lord Li is coming tomorrow, so she has to take care of these things today!
Meat attracts gourmets, wine attracts adults, but money is universally appealing. The eldest sister first found a close friend to do this, and soon her reputation for spending money sprees spread throughout Chen Tang Pass. Lured by the potential profit, everyone helped the eldest sister cover it up. No one revealed her name; they only said that anyone with free time and no money could get money simply by talking to her.
At the same time, Li Jing kicked over the silver statues of the ghost judges on both sides.
As the ghost judges left, the hall suddenly grew cold. The two ghosts circled around Li Jing, trying to remember what the troublemaker looked like. Then, amidst angry curses, his long whip fell towards Nezha.
When Liu Chen swung his whip, it was powerful and fierce.
The golden statue shattered instantly, cracking open.
With the Taoist's seal still in place, Nezha remained unable to move. Not content with cracking his golden body, Li Jing continued to relentlessly lash out with his whip.
His methods were terrifying; he was determined to shatter and destroy Nezha! He pounded the golden body again and again, as if he had returned to the time when Nezha was alive. The Li family's discipline was also the Six-Strike Whip, and the scars left on Nezha's back matched the cracks on the golden body. Li Jing was determined to smash the golden body into dust, and the military and political officials watching from the side were terrified by his hatred.
It's important to know that Li Jing wouldn't do this even against enemy troops on the battlefield.
The corpse would not be repeatedly whipped like that; it is an expression of cruelty.
Before long, the golden statue was finally destroyed.
Amidst the scattered wood chips, ashes, and rotten offerings, Nezha's spirit stood coldly staring at Li Jing amidst the ruins.
He cut off his flesh to return to his mother and his bones to return to his father; their grievances and affections were finally settled.
Why did Li Jing destroy his golden statue? Why did he do that?
Nezha was puzzled, as he was unable to move due to the seal on the peach pit.
Li Jing couldn't see Nezha; he was panting heavily.
He wasn't tired; he was just in a great mood.
Soon, a man burst into the main hall behind him.
The man, dressed as a soldier, was momentarily stunned by the mess on the ground. He quickly recovered and reported to Li Jing, "My lord, there is another Nezha palace in this Cuiping Mountain!"
Li Jing was surprised: "How come there are still some?"
"This palace was built by the Lin family of Chentang Pass, and the other one was built by your wife!"
Upon hearing that both of his closest relatives had built palaces for Nezha, Li Jing was furious. He naturally wouldn't berate his wife in front of the officers, so he directed his anger at the Lin family.
Author's note: I have no intention of whitewashing Li Jing. I have never liked him, regardless of any of my works.
Even the benevolent father Li Jing in the movie *Ne Zha* left me feeling exhausted. In *Investiture of the Gods*, everyone seems to be a tool of Heaven's will. Regardless of past actions or past conflicts, as long as someone acts in accordance with Heaven's will and helps the chosen one achieve their goals, they are considered useful. This is the ultimate manifestation of patriarchy, and this objectification of everyone is particularly evident in Li Jing. Like many East Asian patriarchs, he has a controlling nature towards his children, fearing they might surpass him, and tries every means to suppress them. In the original story, he destroyed Ne Zha's palace, fearing Ne Zha would jeopardize his military achievements and glory. But later, when the opposing camp turned against him, he was able to bring his pagoda to Ne Zha to sue for peace, living a comfortable life under Zhou rule.
I changed the original plot here, and writing that Li Jing destroyed Nezha's palace also meant to gain a good reputation for himself. It was to emphasize his refined egoism and hypocritical nature, and I had no intention of whitewashing him at all.
I like both Nezha and Healing very much.
Nezha sheltered Pingyu because they had a good relationship; Nezha liked Pingyu. In reality, pursuing someone requires a lot of effort—time, energy, money, emotional investment, and even one's rights. So why is it that when Nezha uses his abilities to provide shelter for the woman he likes, it becomes disgusting and repressive? As I've been describing throughout, this relationship is actually unequal. If Nezha hadn't done anything for Pingyu, why would she like him and be with him after they grew up? Is it just because he's "Nezha"? Moreover, Pingyu also did things for Nezha; she was kind to him. This is evident from the first chapter when she helped Nezha conceal the truth about him knocking her unconscious. The seeds of affection had been sown for a long time, which is why Nezha liked her. I also described this in detail today; Pingyu is a good girl. Both Nezha and Pingyu are my darlings; neither of them would suffer! In the pursuit of love, they both do what they can for each other, and their hearts slowly draw closer.
My writing skills are lacking; I often revise my work, and my ability to separate chapters is poor. Many times, my writing may be somewhat unsatisfactory, and my expression may lead to misunderstandings. My dear readers are all good people who support the official version, and of course, they have the right to comment. However, if possible, I still hope you can finish reading the entire story first. The story is a whole, and some uncomfortable parts may simply be because I haven't finished writing the relevant plot points! Thank you for reading and liking Pingyu and Nezha all this time; thank you for your continued support! [Please][Please][Please]
