Qin Qianyi thought it was his Third Brother’s official business and didn’t ask further.
It took him a few steps before he realized and muttered to himself, "Could it be related to the lawsuit with the Shao family?"
Qin Niexun glanced at him, rare appreciation shining in his eyes.
"Ah? Did I guess right?" Qin Qianyi touched the back of his head and praised himself, "I’m really clever!"
Qin Niexun silently averted his gaze, not wanting to witness it.
In the first-floor living room, Qin Haochen held Ann in his arms, sitting on the sofa and playing chess with her.
Throughout the day, Qin Sui’an could only spend a little more time with her daddy at night.
Even now, while they were playing chess, she was reluctant to leave her daddy’s embrace, leaning against his chest and happily playing the game.
Qin Haochen wanted to let Ann win, so he prepared to intentionally make a wrong move.
But in the next second, he saw Qin Sui’an anxiously shaking her little head and said, "Daddy, don’t go there."
"Why shouldn’t I go there?"
Qin Haochen held the chess piece in his hand, waiting obediently for her answer.
"If you go there, Daddy will lose to Ann!"
Qin Sui’an extended her small hand and held his wrist, her childish voice instructing, "Daddy, move one step to the left, that way you can block Ann’s elephant!"
Qin Haochen couldn’t help but chuckle softly.
Ann was actually teaching him how to win against her.
He didn’t want to disappoint her good intentions, so he followed her words and moved the chess piece one step to the left.
Qin Sui’an breathed a sigh of relief, her little face showing a satisfied expression of "that’s right."
It was her turn, she glanced at the chessboard and quickly made another move.
Lan Jin still sitting there and hadn’t gone to rest, watched the daddy and daughter playing chess back and forth, unable to hide her smile.
"Haochen, you better play seriously, or else you might really lose to Ann."
"Mother, I am playing seriously."
Qin Haochen had seen Ann play chess with her Eldest Brothers before, so he knew she was "letting" him win.
Ann played chess with a certain rhythm, as if every move was part of her plan, allowing them to endlessly play without a winner.
When he intentionally made a wrong move earlier, Ann immediately corrected his piece, as if she didn’t want the game to end so soon.
Naturally, Qin Haochen would accompany her until the end, no longer making mistakes and following Ann’s thoughts, placing one chess piece after another.
They played for more than half an hour, and the game was still not over.
Lan Jin shook her head silently in her heart.
At this rate, they could play until tomorrow.
Qin Haochen kept an eye on the time and when it was past nine o’clock, he decided to repeat his previous act and make another wrong move.
Qin Sui’an noticed it and immediately reminded him nervously, "Daddy, you made a mistake!"
"Daddy wants to go here."
Qin Haochen rubbed her little head.
"Fine."
Qin Sui’an hesitated, furrowing her small eyebrows, her round eyes fixed on the chessboard as if contemplating how to save his wrong move.
Qin Haochen’s eyes held a smile as he saw her taking her time to make a move.
He raised his hand and helped her move a piece, saying, "Ann, go here, and you’ll win."
Qin Sui’an held her breath, puffed her cheeks, and after a while, reluctantly said, "Okay, Ann wins, Daddy."
Lan Jin saw her dejected expression and couldn’t help but feel both heartache and amusement.
"Ann, don’t you want to win?"
Qin Sui’an shook her little head and nodded again, indicating, "I don’t want to win, nor do I want to lose."
She just wanted to play with Daddy a little longer, preferably forever.
"Ann, we’ll continue playing next time."
Qin Haochen covered the chessboard and lowered his head to kiss Ann’s head.
"It’s getting late, time to sleep."
Lan Jin yawned at the right moment.
"Indeed, it’s time to sleep. I’m so tired."
She looked at her son, Qin Haochen, and reminded him, "Haochen, you have to go to work tomorrow, so you should sleep early too."
Upon hearing Qin Sui’an’s words, she looked up at her daddy, her little face tilted.
"Daddy, you should go to bed early."
Qin Haochen nodded in agreement.
"All right, I will go to sleep now."
"Ann wants to sleep with Daddy."
Qin Sui’an patted her little belly, afraid of being left behind.
Qin Haochen’s lips curled up.
"All right, let’s sleep together."
He stood up, carrying Ann in his arms, and walked slowly upstairs, saying, "Mother, we’re going back to our room. You should rest early too."
"I see."
Lan Jin smiled warmly at her granddaughter.
"Goodnight, Ann."
Qin Sui’an turned her little head and waved her small hand.
"Goodnight, Grandma."
Qin Haochen was now adept at taking care of Ann.
He helped her wash up and changed her into a cute little nightgown.
Qin Sui’an nestled her small body into the bed, comfortably lying in her designated spot.
Qin Haochen adjusted the bedroom light to a night lamp mode and gently caressed her small body with his palm.
"Ann, would you like to hear a story?"
"Okay."
Qin Sui’an shook her little head slightly.
"Daddy, Ann would rather hear something about the banquet."
Qin Haochen looked at her in confusion.
"Do you want to hear something about the banquet?"
"Sixth Brother said that our family is going to have a banquet tomorrow, and many people will come."
Qin Sui’an held his large hand, her soft voice murmuring, "But Ann has never attended a banquet. Daddy, what is a banquet?"
These past few days, she often heard her grandpa, grandma, and older brothers talking about banquets, but she knew nothing about them.
No one had explained to her what a banquet was or what she should do at one.
Qin Haochen realized this and felt his heart tighten, a sense of discomfort washing over him.
He lay on his side, gently kissing the forehead of Ann, suppressing the turmoil of his emotions.
With patience, Qin Haochen softly explained, "A banquet is a social gathering that combines food and conversation. Many people come together to eat, drink, and chat."
"Eat and drink?" Qin Sui’an blinked her round eyes and couldn’t help but lick her lips.
"Daddy, will there be milk?"
"Yes, there will be."
Qin Haochen’s lips curved up.
"And many other delicious things, not just milk."
"Wow!" Qin Sui’an exclaimed with anticipation, then asked, "Daddy, what will they talk about?"
"They talk about everything. Adults usually discuss their families and work."
Qin Haochen’s expression softened as he looked at Ann.
"Children usually play games."
Qin Sui’an became excited.
"There will be other children too!"
"Daddy will bring you along with your Eldest Brothers, and other adults will bring their children to the banquet."
Qin Haochen thought for a moment.
"Ann is the youngest child."
Qin Sui’an raised three little fingers.
"Ann is only three years old."
"Yes, our Ann is three years old."
Qin Haochen took the opportunity to say, "So at the banquet, if there’s anything, you should come to Daddy first."
