Chapter 112: It’s for Ann

"Okay! Ann knows!" Qin Sui’an obediently nodded her little head.

Qin Haochen saw that Ann wasn’t very sleepy, so he continued, "The banquet will be held at our house.

There might be quite a few people, including grandparents, your brothers, and your Daddy. Ann, you don’t need to be afraid."

Qin Sui’an shook her head again, her gaze determined.

"Ann is not afraid."

"Great."

Qin Haochen embraced her small body, a smile deepening on his face.

"Is there anything else Ann wants to know?"

Qin Sui’an’s round eyes were filled with curiosity as she softly asked in her sweet voice, "Has Daddy attended many banquets before?"

"Not too many."

Qin Haochen spoke in a gentle tone as if telling a bedtime story.

"Most of them were work-related banquets or family gatherings organized by business partners. We would eat, drink, chat briefly about work, and then it would be over."

He didn’t enjoy attending such banquets and often delegated them to He Yan to represent him.

Qin Sui’an listened attentively.

"What about the brothers? Have they attended many banquets too?" "Not many either."

Although Qin Haochen didn’t pay much attention to his sons, He Yan would occasionally report their activities to prevent them from going astray or falling into bad company.

Qin Haochen said, "Your brothers don’t really like attending banquets. They find them troublesome."

Qin Sui’an turned her little face, looking at him, then pursed her small lips and chuckled, "Just like Daddy, Daddy doesn’t like them either."

She didn’t say it directly, but Ann could sense that he was very calm when talking about banquets.

Qin Haochen chuckled softly, "Yes."

He picked up his phone from the bedside table, did a quick search, and then turned the screen towards Qin Sui’an.

"These are some photos from previous banquets I attended."

Qin Sui’an curiously leaned in to look, immediately extending her small hand and pointing at the main character in the photos.

"Daddy is here!"

"Yes, it’s Daddy," Qin Haochen responded to her words.

In the photos, Qin Haochen was toasting and discussing business with several other CEOs, his expression serious, his gaze cool.

Qin Sui’an blinked her round eyes, staring at them for a while.

She looked at him and with a slightly puffed-up face, said, "Daddy really doesn’t like banquets, he doesn’t even smile."

In her impression, Daddy often had a smile on his face.

Qin Haochen’s lips curled up slightly, gently embracing Ann without refuting her words.

After looking at that photo, he flipped through a few more photos of her brothers attending banquets.

Qin Sui’an looked at each photo, shaking her little head, and came to the conclusion, "The brothers don’t like banquets either."

In the photos, her brothers also didn’t smile.

She asked in confusion, "If Daddy and the brothers don’t like banquets, why do they still host banquets?"

Qin Haochen’s eyes filled with indulgence as he looked at Ann, answering her question, "It’s for Ann."

"For me?" Qin Sui’an patted her little tummy, even more puzzled.

"Why is it because of Ann?" Qin Haochen tapped her little nose with his fingertip.

"Daddy wants everyone to know that Ann is my daughter."

At first, Qin Sui’an was stunned, but then she immediately broke into a radiant smile, unable to hide her happiness, and hugged him tightly.

"Yes, Ann is Daddy’s daughter!" His words kept the corners of Ann’s mouth curved upward even in her sleep, bringing her sweet dreams throughout the night.

**

In the quiet of the night, the Shao family received another freshly prepared lawyer’s letter.

These past few days, Shen Shuwen had been repeatedly tormented by the Qin family’s affairs.

She looked weary, and in the middle of the night, she received a lawyer’s letter from the Qin family, unable to come up with any fresh curses.

Shao Yongkang yawned and reluctantly mustered some energy as he took the lawyer’s letter handed to him.

After just a quick glance, his drowsiness vanished instantly.

He stared at Shen Shuwen and interrogated her, "What have you done to offend the Qin family again?"

"It’s me again?" Shen Shuwen angrily grabbed a pillow and forcefully threw it at him.

"It’s clearly written in black and white, perfectly clear. Yet, you still blame me? This lawyer’s letter is for our daughter, Xinxin!"

"Why would the Qin family send a lawyer’s letter to Xinxin for no reason?"

Shao Yongkang furrowed his brow and looked down.

The incident with the stolen little apple had come to an end, but now the lawyer’s letter was regarding Xinxin pushing Qin Sui’an.

It demanded a series of corresponding compensations from Xinxin.

Shao Yongkang felt a headache coming on.

In just a few days, the Qin family seemed to be relentlessly extorting money from their family.

He shook his head weakly. "I’ll have someone transfer the funds, let’s go to sleep."

Resolving it with money was already the best solution.

"Just transfer the money like that? They’re clearly trying to deceive us!" Shen Shuwen gritted her teeth in anger.

"Why didn’t they mention it when they were at our house? And now, even in the middle of the night, they send a lawyer’s letter demanding compensation! They’re nothing but bandits!"

"That’s why I asked you earlier if you offended the Qin family again," Shao Yongkang felt that if Shen Shuwen had spoken nicely and not offended the Qin family, they wouldn’t be dealing with this troublesome lawyer’s letter.

"What does it have to do with me? I can’t even face the Qin family!"

Shen Shuwen wished she could tear the lawyer’s letter to shreds.

"It’s bad enough that outsiders bully me, but now, Shao Yongkang, you’re also blaming me?"

Hearing her sudden sharp tone, Shao Yongkang’s headache worsened.

"I was just asking casually."

"Casually? You’re taking the opportunity to speak your mind! You think it’s all my fault!" Shen Shuwen grabbed another pillow and threw it at him.

"I gave birth to a son and a daughter for you with great effort, and now you blame me because of outsiders! You heartless person!"

"All right, stop arguing. The priority now is to resolve Xinxin’s lawyer’s letter."

Shao Yongkang could never win an argument with her, so he chose to skip that part.

Shen Shuwen felt frustrated and angry inside, but she could only glare at the lawyer’s letter.

"Damn Qin family!"

Apart from complying with the requirements stated in the lawyer’s letter, they couldn’t think of any better solution.

Shao Yongkang picked up his phone and instructed his assistant to transfer the money directly to the Qin family.

Then he looked at Shen Shuwen and said, "Don’t forget, tomorrow Mother will take Xinxin to the Qin family’s banquet."

Xinxin had been talking about wanting to attend the Qin family’s banquet, and she had been practicing the piano for several days.

They couldn’t afford any mistakes at this crucial moment.

Upon hearing his words, Shen Shuwen just pursed her lips.

Who would take Xinxin to the Qin family’s banquet was still uncertain.

Her mother-in-law had never been kind to her, so Shen Shuwen wouldn’t let such a good opportunity slip away for her mother-in-law.

She wasn’t foolish; she couldn’t let Shao Yongkang find out about this and keep it to herself.

Shao Yongkang didn’t notice anything amiss from her and, after instructing his assistant, he turned off the bedroom lights.

One lawyer’s letter was resolved, but another one remained.

Shao Yongkang sighed inwardly.
