Chapter 158: Envy and Jealousy

In the garden.

Qin Sui’an was the first to hear the footsteps and perked up his ears.

"Grandfather is here."

There was another unfamiliar set of footsteps, someone she didn’t recognize.

Qin Niexun listened attentively. "It is indeed grandfather, and I believe Old Mr. Ji is also accompanying him."

Lan Jin lovingly looked at her granddaughter in her arms.

"Ann, your ears are truly perceptive, even more so than your Fourth Brother."

Qin Sui’an chuckled, her lips curved with joy.

Assisted by Old Mr. Ji, Lan Jin arrived in the garden.

He scanned the area but found no one.

He furrowed his brows. "Qin Huo, are you playing a trick on me? There’s no one here."

Qin Huo snorted. "What’s the rush?"

Familiar with the surroundings, Lan Jin walked ahead and settled beside a cluster of flowers, placing his cane down before slowly sitting.

Through the gaps in the flowers, he first saw his grandsons sitting on the outer edge, their eyes revealing a hint of disdain.

They’re all grown up!

Yet they’re still huddled and hiding in the flowers, how childish!

Looking further, he finally spotted his beloved granddaughter sitting in the middle.

Qin Huo beamed with a smile.

"Ann, do you still want to continue playing in the flowers?"

Old Mr. Ji’s expression turned strange as he subtly observed Lan Jin, who was sitting on the lawn without any regard for his image, even smiling foolishly at the flowers. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Is this the same Qin Huo he knew?

It’s as if he’s been possessed by a ghost!

He’s completely changed! Just then, from within the flowers, a soft and adorable voice rang out: "Grandfather, Ann is about to come out!"

Old Mr. Ji stiffened; this was definitely the voice of his future disciple!

Eagerly following Lan Jin’s lead, he sat directly on the lawn, slightly bending forward and carefully peering into the flowers.

The eagerly anticipated little girl was nowhere to be seen, but Old Mr. Ji did catch sight of her brothers.

Qin Qianyi: "Oh? Who’s this?"

Qin Yaoyu: "Isn’t he Old Mr. Ji, the one-Fourth Brother mentioned earlier?"

Qin Niexun: "Indeed."

Qin Lvzheng: "Don’t scare him, be friendly."

Qin Fujia and Qin Yanyi: "Old Mr. Ji."

Suddenly being stared at by six pairs of eyes, Old Mr. Ji was startled.

He awkwardly tugged at the corners of his mouth, forcing a smile.

"How are you"

How did so many people fit into this narrow flower bed?

Before he could even catch a glimpse of the cherished little girl, Old Mr. Ji stood up due to the awkwardness.

After all, he was a guest, unlike Qin Huo, who was the host.

"Umm, I’ll go wait over there first," Old Mr. Ji said to Qin Huo before heading towards the pavilion in the garden.

Qin Huo didn’t stop him. "Go ahead."

Knowing that Ann was about to come out of the flowers, the six brothers no longer crowded within the flower bed and gradually emerged.

Qin Huo looked at his tall grandsons around him and clicked his tongue.

"It’s so narrow in there, why did you all insist on squeezing in?"

Qin Qianyi brushed off the grass from his body.

"Grandfather, you also squeezed in there before."

Indeed, the pot calling the kettle black.

Qin Huo glared at him, unable to refute his grandson’s words.

The big white goose also emerged from the flowers, stretching its neck and yawning.

Oh my, it almost got squashed into a goose pancake!

After the big white goose, it was Qin Sui’an.

Her tiny body wriggled and wriggled, maneuvering through the flowers.

Qin Huo hurriedly approached, joyfully embracing her.

"Ah, we finally made it out, Ann. Let grandfather see if your brothers squished you."

Qin Sui’an puffed up her cheeks and straightened her round little belly.

"Ann is not squished."

"Haha... Yes, not squished, nice and round."

Qin Huo affectionately rubbed her little face, his smile beaming.

Qin Qianyi and Qin Yaoyu huddled together, whispering to each other.

"Grandfather, is this biased?"

"Absolutely biased! When they see the rest of us, they show disdain, but as soon as they see Ann, their faces light up with smiles!"

Qin Huo swung his cane and threw it in their direction.

His feet may not be agile, but his ears are not deaf!

The two continued to clamor, "Look, look! Biased! Grandfather treats us with beatings and scoldings!"

Lan Jin emerged from the flower bushes, seeing her husband infuriated by their mischievous grandsons, she smiled and said, "All right, enough teasing your grandfather, or else he’ll have to check his blood pressure."

Upon hearing these words, Qin Qianyi and Qin Yaoyu toned down their behavior and stopped joking with their grandfather.

Qin Yanyi approached and placed his hand on his grandfather’s wrist, solemnly advising, "Grandfather, you must not get too agitated."

Qin Huo glared at his youngest grandson and fifth grandson, took a deep breath, and calmed himself.

Since Old Mr. Ji’s visit was to take Ann as his disciple, the six brothers returned to the villa and did not stay in the garden.

Lan Jin glanced in the direction of the villa and asked, "Should we call Haochen over?"

Qin Huo nodded and said, "I’ll have the bodyguard fetch him."

Qin Suian lowered her head and fiddled with her fingers, "Daddy has been busy for two hours!"

After returning home from the chess match, Qin Haochen went to study.

Lan Jin squatted down, afraid that her daughter would feel upset, and comforted her, "Your father is busy with work, and work brings money, you know."

"Ann understands," Qin Suian patted the prize money in her pocket, "When Ann has lots and lots of prize money, Daddy won’t have to be so busy!"

Lan Jin reached out and hugged her, "Ann is amazing."

When Qin Haochen came out of the villa and walked towards the garden, they had already reached the pavilion and met Old Mr. Ji.

Qin Suian walked slowly with her short legs.

When she saw the unfamiliar old man in the pavilion, her round eyes blinked, and then curved into a crescent moon shape.

In a sweet and childish voice, she said, "Hello, Grandpa Ji!"

"Oh, good, good!"

Old Mr. Ji had seen the little cutie in the surveillance, but couldn’t see clearly.

Now, seeing her up close, he couldn’t hide his satisfaction.

He even felt a hint of envy and jealousy towards Qin Huo.

How could Qin Huo, with such a bad temper, have such an adorable and cute granddaughter? Life is unfair!

Qin Huo clearly sensed the envy and jealousy coming from Old Mr. Ji’s side.

He tilted his chin slightly, smugly curling his lips.

Go ahead and envy, go ahead and be jealous!

Old Mr. Ji cautiously moved closer to the little cutie, bending his knees and squatting down, maintaining eye contact with her.

He asked, "Ann, do you know me?"

Anyone who knows a little about chess must have heard of his name, Ji Yi!

By asking this question, Old Mr. Ji was boosting his own reputation.
