"Seeing Ann!" Ye Rongyuan blurted out, "Second Brother, are you losing it from filming? Did you forget about our Ann?"
Ye Liyuan suddenly felt his mind go blank, as if his brother was right, he was indeed getting confused from filming.
The car behind honked, urging him to speed up and not drive like a tortoise in the middle of the road.
The sharp honk brought Ye Liyuan back to his senses momentarily.
Ye Liyuan suddenly snapped out of it. At this moment, he wasn’t in a state to continue driving, even though he was eager to get to the hospital.
Pulling the car over to the side, Ye Liyuan felt completely drained, as if he had just finished a strenuous marathon.
Ye Rongyuan, who was originally busy and eager to hang up the phone for official business, finally paid some attention to what was happening on Second Brother’s end. He asked, "Second Brother, where are you? Is there something you need?"
"I saw it trending." Ye Liyuan reluctantly spoke, his voice still carrying a sense of dissociation.
"Trending?" Ye Rongyuan flipped through files swiftly while responding, "Oh right, the clip of Ann playing the piano, I saw it too. Our Ann is really amazing. Mom said it was Ann’s first time playing the piano!"
Glancing at the time, Ye Liyuan asked, "When will you be done? Could you come to the hospital with me?"
Ye Rongyuan glanced at the piles of documents and sighed, "It’ll take another half an hour—"
He couldn’t help but grumble, "I’m so tired of this damn CEO! Every day, there are so many files!"
Out of the three brothers, why was he the one unlucky enough to be chosen as the CEO of the company?
Ye Liyuan had heard him complain about this position before. "Where’s your assistant?"
"He’s attending the meeting for me." Ye Rongyuan continued to grumble, "Why does our company have so many problems? There are either meetings or piles of documents every day!"
If he didn’t delegate the meetings to his assistant, he would be even busier now.
Ye Liyuan, who was initially in a state of confusion, felt somewhat relieved by his brother’s venting.
He chuckled lightly, "Forget it, you’re busy."
"Yeah yeah, Second Brother, I’ll hang up then. If it’s urgent, call me again, but it better be very urgent." After saying this, Ye Rongyuan promptly ended the call.
He lowered his eyes and continued to review the documents. Even though he wanted to finish work quickly, he had to be responsible for the thousands of employees in the company and couldn’t haphazardly approve documents.
After dealing with another batch of files, Ye Rongyuan pinched his nose and took another sip of black coffee.
Seeing his phone lying aside, he finally realized belatedly.
Second Brother’s mood on the phone was quite strange just now.
Ye Rongyuan muttered to himself in disbelief, "Could Second Brother have just found out that Ann returned home?"
Although he was a bit puzzled, every second of his time was precious now, and he didn’t feel like making another call to clarify.
The brief rest ended, and Ye Rongyuan buried himself in the files again.
Meanwhile...
The black commercial nanny car was still parked on the roadside.
Ye Liyuan knew he wasn’t in the right state to drive at the moment. He scrolled through his contacts and, a minute later, cautiously dialed a number.
Top floor of Yangkang Hospital, Lucy stood guard at the door of the ward, her eyes observing her surroundings while her ears remained attentive to any movement inside the ward.
Suddenly, her phone buzzed in her pocket.
Lucy quickly took out her phone and, seeing the caller ID, couldn’t help but show a surprised expression before answering the call.
She respectfully greeted, "Second Young Master."
This phone call lasted only about ten seconds. After ending the call, Lucy gently knocked on the door of the ward.
Upon hearing Old Madam Ye’s "come in" from inside, she opened the door.
In the living room of the ward, only Old Madam Ye was present, having finished processing most of the documents.
Old Madam Ye glanced at her, thinking she was there to urge the documents, and said, "Come back in twenty minutes."
"It’s not about the documents, Madam." Lucy said softly, "Madam, Second Young Master said there’s something wrong with his car, and he wants to come to the hospital."
Old Madam Ye paused, raising her eyebrows in surprise. "Liyuan? Has he finished filming?"
Lucy replied, "He probably hasn’t finished yet. The schedule shows that they will wrap up this week."
Although Second Young Master’s schedule was secretive, it wasn’t difficult for Lucy, the special assistant, to find out.
Lucy asked, "Madam, shall I go pick up Second Young Master?"
"That’s fine, go ahead," Old Madam Ye did not refuse.
Just as Lucy was about to leave, the door, which hadn’t been tightly closed, was suddenly pushed open quietly.
She instinctively turned her head and saw Young Lady standing at the door, blinking her big, bright eyes at her.
Lucy paused, smiling and greeted her, "Young Lady."
Qin Sui’an softly called out with a childish voice, "Miss Lucy~"
Old Madam Ye saw Little One and a gentle smile appeared in her eyes. Sensing that Little One seemed to have something to say, she asked softly, "Ann, what is it?"
Qin Sui’an pursed her lips, her gaze pausing on Miss Lucy for a moment before turning her small head to look at her grandmother. "Grandma, can Ann go with Miss Lucy?"
She had heard the conversation between Grandma and Miss Lucy in the room just now.
Miss Lucy mentioned "Second Young Master" earlier, and since Miss Lucy referred to Third Uncle as "Third Young Master," could "Second Young Master" be her Second Uncle?
Old Madam Ye was very surprised that Little One wanted to go with Lucy to pick up Liyuan.
After pondering for a moment, she speculated that Little One might have overheard their conversation, or perhaps staying in the hospital room for a long time made her curious about Liyuan.
"Of course, you can," Old Madam Ye didn’t refuse Little One but closed the documents in her hand. "I’ll go with you."
However, Qin Sui’an shook her small head and pointed to the pile of documents on the table with her little hand, "Grandma, you can continue with your work. Ann will obediently go with Miss Lucy and won’t run around."
Old Madam Ye paused, her expression showing a hint of hesitation.
She was worried but didn’t want to make Little One feel like she was being watched too closely, nor did she want her worrying emotions to burden Little One.
Seeing this, Lucy said, "Madam, if Young Lady wants to go along, I’ll bring two more bodyguards."
Qin Sui’an walked to her grandmother’s side, gently hugged her, and said, "Grandma, don’t worry!"
With her little hands patting her grandmother’s back, she tried to comfort her.
A warm feeling welled up in Old Madam Ye’s heart as she reached out and rubbed Little One’s head. "Alright, then go ahead. I won’t go with you."
"Okay okay!" Qin Sui’an nuzzled into her embrace. "Goodbye, Grandma! We’ll be back soon!"
