When Qin Haochen received little one’s call, he had almost finished his work and was ready to leave at any moment to pick her up and bring her home.
Counting the days, father and daughter had hardly seen each other recently, relying only on video calls.
After pressing the answer button, a video window popped up on his phone’s screen, and in the next instant, little one’s adorable face appeared.
Qin Sui’an held the phone at an angle that captured her chubby double chin from below.
"Ann." Qin Haochen couldn’t help but smile, his finger unconsciously touching the screen as if he wanted to reach through and touch her cute little face.
Qin Sui’an’s soft voice sounded, "Daddy, what are you doing?"
"Daddy is almost done with work." Qin Haochen’s lips curled into a gentle smile, his deep gaze fixed on little one’s face as he asked, "Did Ann just wake up from her nap?"
"Mm-hmm! Just woke up~" Qin Sui’an nodded her little head. Thinking of what her grandparents had said, she continued, "Daddy, after dinner, Grandma and Grandpa will take Ann home. Is that okay?"
Qin Haochen glanced at the time. He had planned to wait for little one at the hospital entrance. If the Ye family wanted to personally take her home, he would see her even later.
Looking at little one, he didn’t want his own selfishness to trouble her. He nodded gently, "Of course. Daddy will wait for you at home."
"Okay~" Qin Sui’an turned her little head and looked at Grandma, her round eyes curving, "Grandma, daddy said it’s okay~"
"I heard." Old Mrs. Ye smiled and handed her the milk bottle, "Do you want to drink milk?"
"Yes!" Qin Sui’an nodded eagerly, her eyes sparkling as she stared at the milk bottle.
Old Mrs. Ye fetched a phone stand, knowing she wouldn’t end her video call with her father so quickly. She placed the phone on the stand and adjusted the angle for her.
Then, Old Mrs. Ye handed the milk bottle to little one, raising her hand to rub her little head, "Drink slowly."
"Thank you, Grandma~" Qin Sui’an was delighted, hugging the milk bottle and happily drinking milk.
Qin Haochen couldn’t bear to look away, temporarily putting aside his work. He smiled as he watched little one drinking milk on the screen.
After finishing the entire bottle of milk, Qin Sui’an was more energetic. She held the phone again and chatted with her father in a whisper.
Old Mrs. Ye sat quietly on the side, occasionally amused by her childish chatter.
The video call continued until Old Mr. Ye, Ye Liyuan, and Ye Rongyuan returned, ending the call.
Thinking that little one was about to return to Bay Villa, Ye Rongyuan couldn’t hide his reluctance. He picked up little one, rubbing her soft cheek against his, "Ann, you mustn’t forget your third uncle."
Qin Sui’an pouted slightly from his rubbing, speaking indistinctly, "Third uncle, Ann definitely won’t forget~"
Her memory was quite good; of course, she wouldn’t forget.
Seeing the disapproving look from his biological mother, Ye Rongyuan slowly let go of little one and eagerly asked her again, "Ann, will you miss your third uncle?"
"But third uncle is right in front of Ann..." Qin Sui’an couldn’t understand, tilting her head in confusion.
"I mean..." Ye Rongyuan hadn’t finished his sentence when Ye Liyuan interrupted him:
"That’s enough from you. Don’t ask Ann such silly questions." Ye Liyuan frowned slightly, warning him, then turned to little one, "What does Ann want to eat tonight?"
At the mention of food, Qin Sui’an’s big round eyes seemed to light up, "Anything~"
Ye Liyuan smiled, "Then I’ll go prepare some dinner that Ann likes."
Old Mr. Ye looked at little one. During the time she had been here, even the cold, sterile hospital room had felt like home.
Although little one was leaving tonight, the atmosphere here remained warm and inviting.
Dinner was chosen by Ye Liyuan and Ye Rongyuan, featuring all of little one’s favorite dishes. Little one ate happily.
If her belly hadn’t been so round, she would have wanted to finish everything.
In the end, her family finished all the food, wasting not a bit.
After dinner, Qin Sui’an went to her room, holding her mom’s hand. She said seriously, "Mommy, Ann is going back now. Mommy, please get well soon!"
She lowered her head, kissed her mom’s hand, then stood on tiptoe and carefully kissed her mom’s cheek, "Ann will miss mommy~"
Old Mrs. Ye gently hugged little one, whispering softly, "When you have time, come visit your mom here. If you can’t come, call me on video, and you can see your mom through the video call."
"Mm-hmm!" Qin Sui’an turned around, hugging Grandma with her small hands, "Thank you, Grandma~"
"You’re welcome." Old Mrs. Ye hugged her close, stood up, "Okay, let’s get going."
Even though the person in the hospital bed couldn’t respond, Qin Sui’an still waved her little hand toward her mom, "Goodbye, mommy~"
As agreed, after dinner, the Ye family drove little one back to Bay Villa.
When the Maserati entered Bay Villa, the sky had already darkened completely. The streetlights of Bay Villa illuminated the road, leading straight to the castle.
At the same time, at the castle gate, a line of people had been waiting eagerly, anticipating little one’s arrival.
Qin Qianyi had been feeling uneasy lately. With Ann missing from home, he couldn’t settle down. He had even moved to live near the school.
When he heard that Ann was coming home tonight, he hurriedly took a plane back home, waiting from dawn until nightfall.
"Why hasn’t she arrived yet? Didn’t they say they’d send Ann back to Bay Villa after dinner?" Qin Qianyi was worried that the Ye family might change their minds. What if they didn’t bring Ann back?
As soon as he finished speaking, he saw a car approaching from a distance.
Standing beside him, Qin Yaoyu widened his eyes and carefully identified it. Then he shouted loudly, "It’s the Ye family’s car! Ann is back!"
His words instantly changed the atmosphere around him.
Old Mrs. Qin excitedly held Old Mr. Qin’s hand, "Oh, Ann is finally back!"
Old Mr. Qin gently patted her hand to calm her down, "Don’t get too excited, hahaha..."
Though he said that, his smile was even more exaggerated than Old Mrs. Qin’s.
Qin Fujia had recently returned from the mountains. Upon hearing the news that his sister Ann was coming home, he rushed back home.
He looked at the approaching car and thought of his sister inside. He couldn’t help but smile and his movements with the prayer beads became even gentler.
