Chapter 309: Secret Transactions

Little Qin Sui’an had always noticed that her family members each had a distinct fragrance, though it was usually faint. Tonight, however, she found Big Brother’s scent unusually strong.

At her young age, Qin Sui’an didn’t yet understand what the intensity of a scent could signify.

Qin Fujia blinked and glanced down at himself after his sister’s observation. Perhaps the lingering aroma of incense from the mountain hadn’t dissipated yet, so he didn’t dwell too much on the matter.

After practicing riding her bike in the afternoon, it was just past nine in the evening when Qin Sui’an began to feel heavy-eyed and drowsy.

Qin Haochen, ever attentive to little Sui’an, noticed her yawning and gently lifted her from Big Brother’s arms. He carried her upstairs to help her wash up and get ready for bed.

Nestled back in her father’s embrace, Qin Sui’an rested her little head against his broad chest, her previously bright eyes slowly closing. "Daddy, Ann is sleepy."

"Go to sleep," Qin Haochen said softly, planting a gentle kiss on her fluffy little head. He walked slowly upstairs, making sure not to disturb her.

As Qin Sui’an’s small nose twitched, she caught the familiar scent on her father. It was sweet, but different from Big Brother’s, which was stronger.

She blinked slowly, seemingly pondering why scents could vary in intensity. She had been held by Big Brother before, so she was quick to notice the difference.

"Why is it..." Little Sui’an mumbled sleepily.

Hearing her soft voice, Qin Haochen lowered his head and asked gently, "Ann, what’s wrong?"

"The scent, it’s different..." Qin Sui’an, both tired and confused, mumbled about Big Brother.

Not fully grasping her meaning but seeing her eyes nearly closing, Qin Haochen smiled and softly patted her small body, "Ann, just sleep. We’ll talk about it when you wake up."

"Mm..." Qin Sui’an nodded faintly.

After soothing little Sui’an to sleep, Qin Haochen helped her with her bath, dressed her in comfortable pajamas, and then quietly left the room. He left the door slightly ajar to keep an ear on her.

Outside the bedroom, Qin Fujia waited on the sofa. "Dad."

"You asked He Yan to investigate Boyce?" Qin Haochen asked directly. "Have you been in contact with Boyce recently?"

He Yan, Qin Haochen’s personal assistant, had kept him informed about the investigation into Boyce at Qin Fujia’s request.

Qin Fujia remained silent for a moment before answering, "Not directly. It’s just that the tasks coming up are related to Boyce."

Qin Haochen frowned slightly. "If you can avoid it, do so."

Although he generally didn’t interfere in matters that were technically his sons’ responsibilities, this time he had a good understanding of who Boyce was and couldn’t ignore the situation.

Qin Fujia had recently received information from He Yan and had made up his mind. "Alright, I understand."

As the night deepened, and for most people it was the ideal time for rest, a secret transaction was taking place in a dilapidated building area on the outskirts of A City.

The surroundings were eerily silent, and from the outside, nothing seemed amiss inside.
