The secret transaction lasted for about three hours. As dawn began to break, black sedans gradually left the abandoned construction site. The last to leave were four black luxury cars.
In the back seat of the second luxury car, a man with slightly lowered eyes showed no change in his demeanor. Despite the magnitude of the transaction, his expression remained as calm as ever.
In the front passenger seat, one of his subordinates, trying to gauge their bossβs thoughts, asked cautiously, "Boyce, what should we do next?"
The man remained impassive, his lips barely moving as he replied in a calm tone, "No rush."
"Yes, sir." Although his subordinate couldnβt discern his emotions, it was reassuring to know that their boss was unperturbed. They would simply wait for further instructions.
The brief exchange ended, and the car fell back into silence. The four black luxury cars drove smoothly along the road, the rising sun casting a golden-orange glow.
The man slightly turned his head, his steady gaze fixed on the sun peeking over the eastern horizon. A new day had arrived.
The driver of the second car maintained a steady pace, watching the rearview mirror and checking for any anomalies in the front and sides, even though they were in the second car.
The four luxury cars eventually entered a seemingly ordinary residential area and stopped in front of a single-story villa.
The occupants of the four luxury cars disembarked one by one, scanning their surroundings cautiously. Moments later, a subordinate respectfully opened the rear door of the second luxury car, saying, "Boyce, weβve arrived."
The man exited the car, standing tall with a straight posture. His refined appearance softened the otherwise cold aura he projected. As he walked towards the villa, he commanded quietly, "Everyone disperse."
The subordinates responded in unison, "Yes, sir!"
They watched their boss enter the villa until the door closed behind him. The guards at the entrance resumed their duties.
From the outside, the villa appeared to be a single story, but it extended three floors underground. The man removed his coat and hung it on a rack in the foyer before heading into a room and then entering an underground passage.
The heavy footsteps echoed noticeably in the corridor as he descended to the third underground level. After inputting a fingerprint code and scanning his retina, the door in front of him opened with a click. ππ«ππ²π¨πππππ―ππΉ.ππ¨πΊ
Inside was a corridor leading to another area, automatically illuminated by lights as the door opened. The corridor was wide and bright.
As he walked through the corridor, the door behind him closed and locked. The manβs previously calm demeanor faded, replaced by a hint of exhaustion as he relaxed his guarded expression.
He sighed softly and continued along the corridor, which sloped upward for nearly twenty meters. At the end of the corridor was a plain door.
He reached out, turned the handle gently, and pushed the door open.
In stark contrast to the villa, this space was a common two-bedroom, one-living-room apartment. The decor was warm and inviting, with minimal furnishings. The small coffee table in the living room had a vase with withered flowers, and the water in the vase had dried up.
The man first discarded the dead flowers, rinsed the vase, and placed it in the corner. He then sat on the sofa and reached beneath it to retrieve a mobile phone.
