"That’s good to hear," Boyce said without changing his expression, seemingly unfazed.
Qin Niexun chuckled lightly and didn’t say anything more.
The operation tonight was completed smoothly. Apart from Qin Niexun being accidentally injured by Dong Zhenhong, everyone else was safe and unharmed. As the night grew deeper, the criminal investigation team was busy wrapping up the aftermath of a major task. Boyce, a significant figure, had attempted to escape during the operation and was shot dead on the spot.
With the chaos settling down, Qin Niexun was busy until dawn, finally finishing his work. He strode out of the office building.
Outside the office building, a black Rolls-Royce was waiting, its driver standing by. When the driver saw Qin Niexun approaching, he immediately opened the rear door respectfully.
As Qin Niexun walked over, he noticed a familiar figure and stopped, glancing sideways.
"Why are you here?"
The man was dressed in a white casual shirt and light gray pants, looking clean and youthful. His haircut was shorter than before, making him appear even younger. With his delicate features, he could easily be mistaken for a university student.
Ye Xiaoyuan saw Qin Niexun had noticed him and walked over, his gaze briefly examining Qin Niexun’s injured arm.
Without answering Qin Niexun’s question, Ye Xiaoyuan instead asked, "Why haven’t you treated your wound?"
After a night of busy work, Qin Niexun had completely forgotten about the injury on his arm. The shirt fabric, soaked with blood, looked somewhat alarming at first glance.
Qin Niexun lifted his arm. "It’s not too bad; it’s still usable. I’ll let my second brother treat it when I get home."
His second brother was a doctor, so it was a simple task.
"Your second brother?" Ye Xiaoyuan, who was not very familiar with the Qin family and had been living undercover for years, had only vague knowledge about them. After thinking for a moment, he recalled that someone in the Qin family was indeed a doctor.
Qin Niexun reached the car and was about to bend down to get in when he suddenly paused and turned to Ye Xiaoyuan. "Where are you going? I’ll give you a ride."
"I’m going to the hospital," Ye Xiaoyuan said calmly as he followed Qin Niexun into the car, as if he had been waiting for this offer for a long time.
Qin Niexun took the right rear seat and glanced at him.
They didn’t discuss work or the events of the previous night, mutually agreeing not to bring it up. After all, Boyce was dead.
Qin Niexun looked at Ye Xiaoyuan again. "Are you injured?"
"No," Ye Xiaoyuan replied, noting that Qin Niexun seemed surprised by his destination. He added, "Take me to my family’s hospital, Yangkang Hospital."
Qin Niexun instructed the driver, "To Yangkang Hospital."
Then, he suddenly realized that Yangkang Hospital was where the Ye family often stayed because Ye Zhaosi, the Ye family’s daughter, was still in a coma there.
Ye Xiaoyuan seemed to notice Qin Niexun’s puzzled expression and explained, "It’s on the way. You can get your wound treated there, saving your second brother from having to handle it."
Qin Niexun took a few seconds to process this, then said, "Oh."
After that, he hesitated and glanced at Ye Xiaoyuan several times. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Ye Xiaoyuan turned to him. "Do you have something to say?"
Qin Niexun hesitated before quietly asking, "Does your family know I’m coming to the hospital?"
Although the Ye family hadn’t openly clashed with the Qin family, Qin Niexun knew that they were not welcoming of Qin family members at their hospital.
Ye Xiaoyuan did not answer the question directly but instead asked, "Has Ann returned home yet?"
"Yes, she’s back," Qin Niexun nodded. "I assume you haven’t met Ann yet?"
Since Boyce appeared, Ye Xiaoyuan had completely disappeared. Now that Boyce was dead, Ye Xiaoyuan could return.
"Not yet, but I saw Ann’s photos on your sixth brother’s social media," Ye Xiaoyuan said with a smile, recalling the cute little one in the photos.
"That’s you," Qin Niexun laughed. "I thought so. This ’X’ had never shown up in our like list before."
The pleasant atmosphere continued until they reached Yangkang Hospital.
Ye Xiaoyuan got out of the car, looking at the hospital sign with a mix of unfamiliarity and familiarity, his emotions barely concealed.
Qin Niexun did not get out of the car, leaning against the door. "Go inside. I’ll head home to find my second brother. I trust only him."
It was just an excuse; Qin Niexun felt uncomfortable coming to this hospital alone.
Ye Xiaoyuan didn’t press further, nodding. "Take care. See you next time."
"See you next time," Qin Niexun closed the car door and instructed the driver to leave.
The black Rolls-Royce slowly drove away from the hospital, disappearing around the next corner.
Ye Xiaoyuan withdrew his gaze and turned to face the hospital.
He was back.
A voice of disbelief came from behind:
"Big Brother? Big Brother! Is it really you?"
Ye Liyuan had just finished working on a film set and was feeling exhausted. He had planned to check on the hospital before heading home for some rest. Unexpectedly, he saw someone he never expected to see, as if a dream had come true.
Ye Liyuan rolled down the car window, staring at the figure standing at the hospital entrance. It wasn’t until the sound of car horns from behind snapped him back to reality that he spoke hurriedly, "Big Brother! Don’t go! I’ll be right back!"
He quickly drove into the hospital parking lot.
After parking, Ye Liyuan rushed back to the hospital entrance.
Ye Xiaoyuan remained where he was, looking Ye Liyuan up and down. "After all these years, you haven’t changed a bit."
Ye Liyuan ran over and hugged him tightly. "Big Brother!"
"I’m back," Ye Xiaoyuan said calmly. "Unless something unexpected happens, I shouldn’t have to leave again."
"Really?" Ye Liyuan’s face lit up with joy. "That’s wonderful. Mom and Dad miss you every day. Whenever they see me, they ask if I’ve been in touch with you."
Ye Xiaoyuan smiled slightly and looked toward the hospital. "Are Mom and Dad still staying here?"
"Usually, yes," Ye Liyuan said as he led him into the hospital. "By the way, I thought I saw you recently, but I wasn’t sure. Did you come to the hospital’s side entrance?"
"You have quite the sharp eye," Ye Xiaoyuan said. He had indeed come to the hospital once when he first arrived in A City.
Ye Liyuan’s smile deepened. "I knew it was you!"
Sure enough, he hadn’t been mistaken!
Ye Liyuan pressed the button for their exclusive elevator and waited for his older brother Ye Xiaoyuan to step in.
The elevator doors closed, ascending to the top floor.
Ye Xiaoyuan looked at the floor numbers lighting up above and asked softly, "Is Zhaosi still the same?"
"Yes," Ye Liyuan’s tone grew somber as he mentioned his sister Ye Zhaosi. "She’s still the same, in a coma with no sign of waking up."
It was just dawn, barely seven in the morning.
Ye Xiaoyuan noticed Ye Liyuan removing his mask and hat, revealing his tired face, and asked, "Did you work all night?"
"Yes, I couldn’t get into the right state for a particular scene, so it took several takes," Ye Liyuan smiled.
Ye Xiaoyuan’s ability to hide his identity as Boyce so well was also partly due to his younger brother Ye Liyuan’s help. Ye Liyuan often talked about acting techniques and would occasionally ask Ye Xiaoyuan to practice with him, which helped Ye Xiaoyuan learn some acting skills. This allowed him to safely live on the edge of danger and perfectly shed his Boyce identity to return to his own.
The elevator dinged, reaching the top floor.
Ye Liyuan stepped out first, lowering his voice. "It’s still early. Mom and Dad might not be up yet."
"I know," Ye Xiaoyuan only wanted to see his family as soon as possible. "Don’t mention this to them yet."
"Alright," Ye Liyuan smiled. "It’s a good thing I came. If Rongyuan had discovered you, he wouldn’t have been able to keep it a secret."
Thinking of their third brother Ye Rongyuan, Ye Xiaoyuan also smiled. "Hasn’t he messed up the company?"
"No, he’s getting better at it," Ye Liyuan shook his head. "He seems to have a natural talent for managing the company. If I were in charge, it might have gone under by now."
After saying this, Ye Liyuan turned to his older brother and asked, "What are your plans next?"
"I need to be busy for a few more days and tidy things up," Ye Xiaoyuan hadn’t yet decided whether to continue on his previous path or choose a new one.
Ye Liyuan nodded, not pressing further.
Since Old Mr. Ye and Old Mrs. Ye had not yet woken up, their assistants Jie Hansi and Lucy also had not arrived at the hospital.
The whole floor was quiet.
The two brothers’ soft footsteps stopped outside a hospital room.
Ye Liyuan carefully opened the door and stepped inside.
