Chapter 334: Misunderstanding Resolved

Ye Xiaoyuan was momentarily stunned.

Was he being noisy?

Did Ann find him annoying?

Knowing that the little one was tired from wandering around the temple, Ye Xiaoyuan had remained silent throughout the journey, intending to let her rest. Only when he noticed her discomfort did he speak up.

Ye Xiaoyuan’s eyes were filled with complex emotions, and he cautiously said, "Well, I won’t speak anymore."

Qin Sui’an, leaning weakly against big uncle, realized that big uncle had misunderstood her. She softly explained, "It’s not that big uncle is noisy; it’s the people eating that are noisy..."

"The people eating are noisy?" Ye Xiaoyuan looked ahead towards the Dining Hall.

Perhaps due to the temple’s Dining Hall, where everyone tried to maintain a quiet dining environment, Ye Xiaoyuan listened carefully but couldn’t hear much noise.

Thinking that maybe the little one’s hearing was better than his, Ye Xiaoyuan fell silent for a moment, then turned and walked back a short distance with the little one.

When they were about ten meters away from the Dining Hall, Ye Xiaoyuan stopped under a tree, gently patted her back, and asked softly, "Ann, do you feel better now? Is it still noisy?"

"Better..."

At a greater distance, Qin Sui’an finally stopped hearing the clamor from the Dining Hall.

Ye Xiaoyuan’s worry didn’t dissipate as he looked around. He wondered when Qin Fujia and Qin Yanyi would arrive. Ann seemed to be suffering from heatstroke, and he needed Qin Yanyi to check on her.

With this in mind, Ye Xiaoyuan changed his hold on the little one, letting her head rest on his shoulder, and took out his phone. He opened the contacts list but hesitated, furrowing his brow.

What was Qin Yanyi’s phone number again?

"Second brother’s phone number? Ann knows," Qin Sui’an turned her head towards big uncle and, with a soft voice, recited Qin Yanyi’s number: "1..."

Ye Xiaoyuan momentarily didn’t realize there was anything odd. He instinctively dialed the number the little one recited.

After dialing the eleven-digit number, Ye Xiaoyuan made the call.

After three "beeps," the call was answered.

On the line, Qin Yanyi’s impatient voice came through, "Who is it?"

"It’s me." Ye Xiaoyuan glanced at the little one in his arms. "Ann seems to be feeling unwell."

"Ann isn’t feeling well?" Qin Yanyi quickly asked, "Where are you?"

Ye Xiaoyuan accurately reported their location: "We are on the road to the right of the Dining Hall, under a tree."

"Okay, I’ll be right there." Qin Yanyi didn’t hang up the phone but handed the milk bottle to a bodyguard by the car, instructing him to prepare the milk and take it into the temple. He then grabbed a first aid kit from the car and hurried into the temple towards Ye Xiaoyuan’s location, asking, "What’s wrong with Ann?"

Ye Xiaoyuan, not being a doctor, could only describe what he saw. "I’m not sure, but it seems like dizziness."

"I’m on my way." Qin Yanyi ran quickly and soon spotted their figures. He hung up the phone and approached them.

Ye Xiaoyuan gently held the little one, "Ann?"

Qin Sui’an, who was no longer feeling as bad as before, still looked exhausted, with her little face showing signs of fatigue.

Qin Yanyi lowered himself to Ann’s level, placing the back of his hand on her forehead. "Ann, what’s bothering you?"

"Second brother, Ann doesn’t feel uncomfortable anymore." Qin Sui’an, hungry and tired, weakly said, "It was very noisy earlier, and the noise made Ann feel dizzy."

"Noisy?" Qin Yanyi looked confused and turned to Ye Xiaoyuan.

Ye Xiaoyuan added, "When we were going to the Dining Hall, Ann heard the noise from there and thought it was loud. I saw her looking uncomfortable, so I brought her here."

Qin Yanyi had passed by the Dining Hall but hadn’t noticed if the noise was loud due to his haste. He examined Ann’s little face closely. "Ann, besides the noise, is there anything else making you feel unwell?"

Qin Sui’an thought carefully and answered in her soft voice, "And I’m hungry."

Qin Yanyi: "......"

Ye Xiaoyuan: "......"

It was already past noon, and the little one was indeed hungry. Qin Sui’an had clearly heard the sounds of laughter from big uncle and second brother. However, when she looked at them, their expressions were tense, with no sign of laughter, only serious and worried looks.

Where did that laughter come from?

Qin Sui’an rubbed her little ears, her brows furrowed in confusion.

Seeing her action, Qin Yanyi asked, "Ann, is your ear uncomfortable?" 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"Um..." It wasn’t so much uncomfortable as it was strange sounds she was hearing.

Qin Sui’an was very puzzled and didn’t know how to explain to second brother.

Noticing her hesitance, Qin Yanyi lowered his voice and patiently coaxed, "Ann, just say what you want to say."

Encouraged by his words, Qin Sui’an spoke up, feeling more aggrieved, "Second brother, Ann’s ears are strange."

Seeing her pitiful expression, Qin Yanyi gently patted her head, "Sweetheart, what’s strange about them?"

"Big uncle wasn’t laughing, but Ann heard big uncle laughing." Qin Sui’an pointed to big uncle’s mouth and then to second brother’s, "Second brother wasn’t laughing either, but Ann heard second brother laughing too."

As soon as she said this, Ye Xiaoyuan and Qin Yanyi exchanged looks and simultaneously asked each other:

"What are you laughing at?"

Both denied at the same time:

"I wasn’t laughing."

Neither of them had seen or heard the other laugh.

Just then, Ye Xiaoyuan and Qin Yanyi’s expressions suddenly changed.

Wait a minute...

Could it be because of Ann’s "and I’m hungry" comment?

Qin Sui’an nodded, "Mm-hmm, after Ann said she was hungry, big uncle and second brother laughed."

The little one’s voice grew even more aggrieved, "Big uncle and second brother were laughing at Ann?"

Ye Xiaoyuan and Qin Yanyi both quickly said, "Of course not!"

Qin Yanyi hurriedly explained, "It’s because Ann is so cute. We weren’t laughing at Ann."

Ye Xiaoyuan nodded in agreement, "Yes, it’s because Ann is so cute. We didn’t mean to laugh at you. I’m also hungry."

Qin Sui’an looked at big uncle and then at second brother. "Oh... So, Ann misunderstood big uncle and second brother."

With the misunderstanding cleared, Ye Xiaoyuan and Qin Yanyi both secretly sighed with relief.

Suddenly, both of them realized something.

Wait a minute.

Was there... something off?
