Qin Fujia thought all night but couldn’t come up with a good solution to prevent Ann from feeling dizzy, worry etched on his brow. Yet, he believed a way would be found to address this adverse effect on Ann.
Qin Sui’an grasped her big brother’s hand, rubbing her little face against it, soothingly saying, "Big brother, don’t worry about Ann~"
Qin Fujia’s heart sank a little, his voice softer than before. "If Ann feels uncomfortable, tell us right away, okay?"
Qin Sui’an nodded vigorously, responding earnestly, "Mm-mm! Ann knows!"
"Good." Qin Fujia scooped Ann into his arms, wanting to hold her a bit longer while taking her to find Third Brother.
The door to Qin Lvzheng’s room was tightly closed but not locked. Considering Third Brother was likely still asleep, Qin Fujia skipped knocking and gently pushed the door open while holding Ann.
Qin Lvzheng’s room was decorated in stark black and white—white floor tiles and walls, with black furniture creating a very strong style. The living room featured two walls transformed into massive bookshelves, the highest shelf reaching the ceiling, filled with neatly arranged books.
It was Qin Sui’an’s first time in her Third Brother’s room, and she was instantly amazed by the towering bookshelves, her mouth agape as she exclaimed, "So many books~"
Qin Fujia followed Ann’s gaze, accustomed to it. As a lawyer, Qin Lvzheng needed to remember national laws and understand various case situations; without a sufficient reading volume, he couldn’t maintain his position as a top lawyer.
Qin Sui’an pointed at the shelves with her little hand, "Has Third Brother read all these books?"
"Probably," Qin Fujia patiently answered her question. "Your Third Brother reads faster than most."
This was one of Qin Lvzheng’s advantages—he read quickly, remembered quickly, and his thoughts kept pace with his brain.
"Third Brother is so impressive~" Qin Sui’an’s eyes sparkled with admiration, her reverence for him rising to new heights.
Qin Fujia glanced toward the bedroom direction. The bedroom door was ajar, but it was dark inside, as if the curtains were tightly drawn. Believing Third Brother wouldn’t wake up soon, he decided to take Ann closer to the bookshelves since she was so interested.
As they approached, the book titles became clear, and the categories were well defined. Qin Fujia furrowed his brow slightly as he walked to other shelves, finding only books related to criminal law.
He couldn’t find a single book suitable for three-and-a-half-year-old Ann among the towering shelves. Seeing the intriguing bookshelves, Ann’s bright eyes sparkled, but unfortunately, she couldn’t recognize many words and had no idea what the books were about.
Hearing her big brother’s thoughts, she couldn’t help but ask curiously, "Big brother, why aren’t these books suitable for Ann?"
Qin Fujia paused for a moment, organizing his words before replying, "Ann is still small; these books aren’t quite suitable for her. They are a bit..."
What word should he use?
Bloody? Violent? Cruel?
Qin Sui’an blinked, her little voice repeating, "Bloody? Violent? Cruel?"
Qin Fujia: ...
He felt helpless; since Ann had heard, he didn’t hide it anymore. "Yes, so they aren’t suitable for Ann."
Though Qin Sui’an didn’t fully understand those three terms, she grasped that they were very negative. She immediately covered her eyes with her small hands, saying, "Ann won’t look."
Qin Fujia was taken aback but then charmed by her adorable gesture, unable to suppress a laugh. He turned around, carrying Ann away from the bookshelves to sit on the sofa.
Qin Sui’an didn’t ask her big brother to stay with her while waiting for Third Brother to wake. She tilted her little face up and sweetly asked, "Big brother, are you busy? Ann can be alone."
"It’s fine, I’m not busy." Qin Fujia hadn’t planned to go to the temple today, perhaps he would contact Ye Xiaoyuan later to return his things.
Qin Sui’an blinked her round eyes. "Is big brother going to find big uncle?"
"Maybe." Qin Fujia couldn’t guarantee he would see him. "Uncle doesn’t know if he’s free."
Ye Xiaoyuan needed to keep a low profile these days, avoiding being seen if possible. Qin Sui’an nodded in vague understanding; this was adult business, and though she didn’t fully grasp it, she wouldn’t pry for more details.
Just after mentioning him, Qin Fujia’s phone suddenly buzzed with a message from Ye Xiaoyuan.
Qin Fujia glanced at the message, which asked him to place something in a specific location for Ye Xiaoyuan to pick up later. To be cautious, they needed to stagger their timing to avoid arousing suspicion.
This also meant Qin Fujia needed to leave early.
What a coincidence that the message came now.
He replied with a simple "Okay," deleted the message, and continued holding Ann as if he hadn’t received any news.
Qin Sui’an had naturally heard her big brother’s thoughts. Knowing he wanted to spend more time with her but also worried about delaying his tasks, her little expression showed hesitation. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
Little one couldn’t hide her thoughts; Qin Fujia noticed her inner turmoil and smiled, saying, "No rush. When your Third Brother wakes up, I’ll get back to work."
It wouldn’t matter if he took a bit longer.
Qin Sui’an felt this made sense, letting out a sigh, "Big brother is right~"
While the siblings were in the living room, Qin Lvzheng’s beautiful dream was nearing its end.
Qin Lvzheng always slept deeply; once he was asleep, it was hard to wake him, even with thunder.
He woke naturally, feeling refreshed and full of energy.
Reaching for the remote on the bedside table, Qin Lvzheng opened the tightly drawn curtains.
Bright sunlight flooded into the bedroom, illuminating it completely, without a hint of darkness.
Qin Lvzheng got out of bed and stood by the window, looking outside. The expansive view was filled with green trees and red flowers, all part of their Qin family’s Bay Villa.
Not sure if it was his thoughts of the promise made with Ann last night, Qin Lvzheng felt he heard her voice.
"Big brother, Third Brother is awake~"
Wait, it seemed like it wasn’t just a feeling.
It was truly Ann’s voice!
