Chapter 359: What Does "Bastard" Mean?

Qin Sui’an sat in her special child safety seat, her little feet swinging excitedly in the air, eagerly anticipating visiting her Third Brother’s law firm. Even Qin Lvzheng, sitting beside her, could feel Ann’s joyful emotions, and his lips naturally curled up in response.

The Great White Goose, Ann, quietly crouched beneath little Ann’s seat, making no noise and not running around. Qin Lvzheng’s law firm was located in a bustling area downtown. It was well-known that his lawyer fees were shockingly high. After earning a significant income, Qin Lvzheng promptly bought a tall building, using just one floor as his office and renting out the rest for a steady income.

The Qin family’s luxury car parked at the entrance of the LZ Building. The bodyguard quickly exited the vehicle, walked around to the back, and respectfully opened the rear door. Qin Lvzheng got out first, then turned and bent down to unbuckle Ann’s seatbelt before carrying her out.

He handed Ann’s pig backpack and the goose’s leash to the bodyguard, then strode confidently into the LZ Building with Ann in his arms. Qin Sui’an recognized the building; she could see it from her daddy’s office window.

Leaning closer to her Third Brother’s ear, Qin Sui’an whispered, "Third Brother, Ann saw this building from daddy’s office!"

Her soft voice reached Qin Lvzheng, who smiled and replied, "From my office, you can also see our family’s group."

Qin Sui’an’s eyes brightened, "Then can we see daddy?"

"I’ll have someone prepare a telescope; maybe we can see him," Qin Lvzheng replied. He hadn’t tried it before, but the two buildings seemed close, even though they were actually far apart, only appearing prominent due to their height among shorter buildings.

Hearing her Third Brother’s thoughts, Qin Sui’an realized, "Oh~ it’s still far away~"

As they spoke, the siblings had already entered the building through the front door. The security guard downstairs recognized Qin Lvzheng and greeted him properly, "Attorney Qin, good morning!"

"Morning." Qin Lvzheng nodded slightly, saying little as he headed straight to the elevator designated for him.

With her Third Brother holding her, Qin Sui’an’s round eyes curiously scanned the people around. In the silence, her little ears picked up several different voices:

"I don’t want to work again, another day of not wanting to work... Oh, isn’t that Attorney Qin?"

"So tired, there’s always that one week where I don’t want to work... Attorney Qin! Holding a child?"

"Am I still asleep? Did I just see Attorney Qin bringing a kid?"

Qin Lvzheng used one hand to press the elevator’s open button.

"Beep, fingerprint verification successful."

The elevator doors opened from both sides.

Carrying Ann, Qin Lvzheng stepped inside and said, "This isn’t just my law firm; the other floors are rented to different companies. Ann, you can’t run around by yourself downstairs, okay?"

Qin Sui’an quickly nodded her little head, "Mhm, Ann won’t run around~"

The bodyguard led the Great White Goose into the elevator, and the doors closed, automatically ascending to Qin Lvzheng’s top-floor law firm.

As the elevator doors shut, Qin Sui’an could still hear the unfamiliar security guard talking:

"Wow, I’ve worked here for years, and this is the first time I’ve seen Attorney Qin with a child! Is that kid Attorney Qin’s? But wait, I’ve never heard of Attorney Qin getting married or having kids, he’s still young! Could it be Attorney Qin’s bastard?"

As the elevator rose, the security guard’s thoughts slowly faded away.

Qin Sui’an blinked in confusion and looked at her Third Brother.

Qin Lvzheng sensed her gaze and asked, puzzled, "Ann, what’s wrong?"

Qin Sui’an softly asked, "Third Brother, can I ask you a question?"

He nodded readily, "Sure, Ann, go ahead."

Qin Sui’an blurted out her curiosity, "Third Brother, what does ’bastard’ mean?"

Qin Lvzheng: ?!

Who said something inappropriate in front of Ann?

Instinctively, Qin Lvzheng turned to the third person in the elevator, the bodyguard.

The bodyguard looked innocent and confused, "Young Lord Lvzheng?"

Qin Lvzheng redirected his gaze.

It couldn’t be the bodyguard; they wouldn’t say such strange words in front of Ann.

Suddenly, the image of the security guard who had greeted him flashed in his mind. Just as he was guessing if it was the guard, he heard Ann’s voice again:

"Mhm, Third Brother, the guard just now asked if Ann is your bastard."

Qin Sui’an repeated, "Third Brother, what does ’bastard’ mean?"

Qin Lvzheng pondered for a moment before answering, "It means a daughter born out of wedlock, or a daughter born from infidelity."

Upon hearing this, Qin Sui’an shook her little head, "Then Ann isn’t! Ann is daddy and mommy’s daughter~"

Qin Lvzheng looked at Ann’s innocent and pure expression, smiling softly, "Of course, Ann isn’t."

The elevator dinged, arriving at the top floor law firm.

Qin Lvzheng decided to set aside this little incident for now, carrying Ann out of the elevator.

At first glance, there was the sign for Qin Lvzheng’s law firm, with the front door beside it.

As the glass door detected their approach, it opened automatically, and the front desk staff stood up with a smile, anticipating their arrival.

"Attorney Qin, good morning..." 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

The word "morning" got caught in the front desk staff’s throat the moment they saw their boss, Attorney Qin, holding a baby.

The suddenness of it left no time for their expression to adjust, and they stared wide-eyed in shock.

Wow!

Attorney Qin brought his daughter to work!

When did Attorney Qin have a daughter? And such a big girl!

Oh my, oh my, Attorney Qin’s daughter is so beautiful!

Of course, Attorney Qin is handsome, so his daughter must be good-looking too!

Ah! This is too unbelievable!

The front desk staff screamed inwardly, wishing they could rush to the break room to gossip with their colleagues.

Qin Sui’an couldn’t help but rub her little ears and buried her face in her Third Brother’s embrace, trying to shield herself from the sister’s voice.

But clearly, all of this was in vain.

Although Qin Lvzheng didn’t hear anything specific, he could tell from Ann’s reaction.

He gently patted Ann’s back in a comforting manner and cast a sharp glance at the front desk staff: "Quiet down."
