Chapter 361: A Tricky Case

Qin Lvzheng glanced at the time.

"I don’t have time."

This case was extremely complex and bizarre. He enjoyed challenging impossible cases to gain more advantages for his clients, so he took it on. However, the reality seemed more troublesome than he had anticipated.

As a lawyer, Qin Lvzheng should not refuse a client’s request for a meeting, but after several conversations, he clearly knew that this client wasn’t being truthful, leading him to feel frustrated.

The assistant, aware of the situation, hesitated and said, "Attorney Qin, the client says he won’t leave if you don’t show up."

"Then let him wait," Qin Lvzheng replied before hanging up the phone.

He turned to look at Ann, who was leaning against the floor-to-ceiling window. His irritation faded instantly, and a smile unconsciously crept onto his lips.

While Qin Lvzheng continued going through the materials, the assistant wore a troubled expression, reluctant to face the client in the reception area.

A colleague nearby noticed her silence and came over to comfort her: "Attorney Qin isn’t seeing that client, right?"

"Yeah, Attorney Qin is already frustrated with him. Do you think I’m not?" the assistant complained. "I bet Attorney Qin regrets taking this case."

What they thought would be a challenging case was actually testing Attorney Qin’s limits rather than his abilities.

But since they had already taken it on and there were only three days left until the trial, avoiding it might lead to Attorney Qin’s first defeat in court.

The colleague patted her shoulder, "Just hold on for these last three days."

The assistant sighed and, after a moment, stood up, took a deep breath, and walked toward the reception area.

The door to the reception area was open, and a man was seated on the sofa. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

The assistant approached the door, knocked lightly, and with an apologetic expression, said, "Mr. Lu, I’m very sorry, but Attorney Qin is busy and may not be able to meet with you for a while."

Lu Keliang turned at the assistant’s voice, his brows knitting tightly. "What’s he busy with? He only took my case! Has he taken on someone else’s case? Did I pay him too little?"

The assistant straightened her back. "Attorney Qin only takes one case at a time, which is yours, Mr. Lu, as you know."

"Then how does he not have time?" Lu Keliang slammed his hand on the table. "He won’t even answer my calls! I traveled a long way to find him, and he won’t see me?"

The assistant maintained her apologetic demeanor. "Mr. Lu, please don’t be angry. Attorney Qin is busy; it’s not that he won’t see you."

Lu Keliang slammed the table again, more furious this time. "I’m his client! Does he want to win the case or not? I have important clues for him!"

"Then... Mr. Lu, please sit down. Once Attorney Qin finishes, he will come," the assistant said, unsure if Attorney Qin would meet with Lu Keliang. But if Attorney Qin left the company, he would have to pass through the reception area, and at that moment, Lu Keliang would likely rush out to stop him.

The assistant was just an employee and didn’t dare to confront the client, so she quickly turned and left, avoiding further confrontation.

Seeing the assistant leave, Lu Keliang slammed the table for the third time, harder than before.

He gritted his teeth and muttered under his breath, "That Qin Lvzheng is so arrogant; why won’t he see me? Without me, how can he make money?"

But thinking of the "evidence" he had found, Lu Keliang knew he had to present it to Qin Lvzheng in person.

He wanted to win this lawsuit! That’s why he had invested so much money, spending everything he had to hire Qin Lvzheng, the top lawyer known for his undefeated track record.

As long as he had Qin Lvzheng, he wouldn’t lose!

After winning the case, he could even make the plaintiff cover the attorney fees for hiring Qin Lvzheng, so he wouldn’t have to spend a dime!

With that thought, a sinister smile appeared on Lu Keliang’s face, as if he could already see his bright future.

In the office, Qin Lvzheng was organizing documents while keeping an eye on the time. It was just past ten, so he decided to take a break from his work.

Just as he was about to stand up and speak, he heard Ann say: "Third Brother, Ann can go get some snacks to fill her tummy." Qin Sui’an had sensed her Third Brother’s concern that she might be a little hungry and was about to grab some snacks from her piggy backpack.

Qin Lvzheng paused. "Ann can... really?"

"Of course! Ann can do it herself~" Qin Sui’an said, running over to the sofa, picking up her piggy backpack, unzipping it, and rummaging through the snacks inside.

She held up a cute bunny-shaped bread and looked at her Third Brother with her sweet voice asking, "Third Brother, do you want some?"

Qin Lvzheng smiled gently and shook his head. "No, you eat it, Ann."

He wasn’t actually hungry; he probably needed a cup of coffee more than snacks.

Qin Sui’an blinked her big eyes.

Coffee?

Oh~ that was something her Daddy liked to drink in the morning, that dark stuff~

Qin Sui’an turned to the office door.

She remembered the receptionist downstairs had mentioned wanting to gossip in the tea room with her colleagues. She didn’t understand much else, but she knew that’s where Third Brother could find his coffee.

"Third Brother, Ann will go find you coffee! I know where it is~"

Qin Sui’an ran over, opening the office door, and called back to her Third Brother, "You keep working! Ann will be back soon!"

Fearing her Third Brother would worry, she added, "I’ll be back in a minute!"

"Ann..." Qin Lvzheng hesitated, intending to follow her, but sat back down instead.

Ann didn’t want to trouble him or make him worry too much, and he felt that if he followed her, she might feel like she was bothering him.

Qin Lvzheng used his mouse to bring up the surveillance footage of the firm, locking onto Ann’s figure.

In the past, Qin Sui’an would feel scared around strangers, but now she could boldly help her Third Brother prepare coffee in an unfamiliar environment.

Her small figure walked down the corridor, passing the doors of various departments.

Some employees noticed a blur pass by but couldn’t see anyone when they looked up, scratching their heads in confusion, thinking it was just a mirage.

Using her memory, Qin Sui’an quickly found the tea room.

Inside, she could hear quiet conversations.
